To try an answer the question you have it would be nice to know what kind of answer you where looking for? The reason most undoubtly would be because Jesus had told His apostles that this must happen. And He made it plan that that it would be three days. Mark 10:33"Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes; and they will condemn Him to death and deliver Him to the Gentiles; 34and they will mock Him, and scourge Him, and spit on Him, and kill Him. And the third day He will rise again." Also it had been prophesied, Hosea 6:2"He will (1) revive us after two days; He will (2) raise us up on the third day, That we may live before Him. and confirmed, 1 Corinthians 15:4 and that He was buried, and that He was (1) raised on the third day (2) according to the Scriptures, But, also the three days and not three hours would have been needed to assure the people that He was indeed dead and then raised. We can see this when read of Jesus raising Lazarus, John 11 14Then Jesus said to them plainly, "Lazarus is dead. 15And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, THAT YOU MAY BELIEVE. Nevertheless let us go to him." 17 So when Jesus came, He found that he had ALREADY BEEN IN THE TOMB FOUR DAYS. This is the kind of proof needed for people to believe in Jesus. Further proof that they wanted to be sure He was dead is what Pilate says in Mark 15:42 "Now when evening had come, because it was the Preparation Day, that is, the day before the Sabbath, 43Joseph of Arimathea, a prominent council member, who was himself waiting for the kingdom of God, coming and taking courage, went in to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. 44Pilate MARVELED THAT HE WAS ALREADY DEAD; and summoning the centurion, HE ASK HIM IF HE HAD BEEN DEAD FOR SOME TIME. 45So when he found out from the centurion, he granted the body to Joseph. This is about as clear as we can understand why Jesus said three days. I hope this helps. Raven |

4 | why was it three days? | Job | stjones | 43458
Hi, ethan; I doubt anyone on earth knows the answer to your question. God picked the interval and to my knowledge did not explain his reason. Any answer you get will therefore be pure speculation. Some questions just don't have answers. Speaking of speculation, why do you suppose it was three days? Peace and grace, Steve aka Indiana Jones |

6 | why was it three days? | Job | Hank | 43503
Hello, Ethan. Here in Arkansas when I go to the woods in the summer, I do occasionally wonder why God made ticks. Now that question, I submit, is more practical than wondering why God made the heavens and earth in six days or why Christ rose on the third day, not to mention its potential for being just as spiritually nourishing. --Hank
7 | why was it three days? | Job | ethan | 43515
Hi Hank, i see that you havent changed.:-). there is a reason why God chose 3 days, i just havent been shown yet. and it seems neither have you. i guess those ticks were made so that when you look down it makes you look up ,to its creator, and know we are just as insignificant next to an almighty God. Bless you
