I am questioning why this famine didnt occur during Saul's reign since it was his sin? This wasnt answered in our Bible study. Is there any background or passage that answers this? | ||||||

Hi, Briva... Sin never only effects ourselves. It effects everyone around us. Remember: the last thing any of us should want from God is for Him to be "fair." (The most fair doctrine in the Scripture is the doctrine of hell.) What we want and crave from Him, is mercy and grace. So I can compare it to David's sin of adultery and the consequences that in turn affected his newborn son by Bathsheba who died. I can see where David handled the famine appropriately, inquiring of the Lord, whereas Saul may not have. Thank you. | ||||||
