2 | Oldest Book of the Bible Job? | Deuteronomy | Thanku4mercy | 141707
The book of Job was way down the line after the ten commandments were given to Moses. They were given in the book of Deuteronomy chapter 5. That is why Job was able to not cuse God and that is why he offered sacrifices for his children just in case they committed any sins. If there was no laws or commandments he would not have known that. God bless you From Sis. Tamara |

Someone named Karen said what laws did Job follow since the ten commandments were not yet given to Moses. But that is not true. Job is the 18th book of the bible, the commandments were given in the first five books which were the laws. You can find them in the book of Deuteronomy chapter 5. I read the King James Version bible. Thank you Sis.Tamara

Thanku4mercy, Greetings. Job actually is considered by most scholars to be the oldest book in the bible. If you go back an look at the dates which the books in the OT were written you will see the diferent dates. After examining the dates you will then notice that the books of the Old Testament are not all necessarilly placed in chronilogical order. I do beleive the books of the bible were placed where God intended them to be. With this in mind it is very possible that the events in Job could have taken place before the time of Moses. I wont etch this in stone, but it does merit consideration. Look into it. Your brother in Christ, lionheart |

In which version of the OT are the books placed in the order in which God intended -- the OT of Judaism or the OT of Christianity? Man -- not God -- determined the order of appearance of the books of the Bible. There is no divinely inspired table of contents or genealogy of the books of the Bible.

8 | Oldest Book of the Bible Job? | Deuteronomy | kalos | 141732
What dates? Whose dates? The dates of the writing of the books is not part of the inspired text of the Bible. The question remains: In which version of the OT are the books placed in the order in which God intended -- the OT of Judaism or the OT of Christianity? |

Look I'm even starting to confuse myself here, of course the dates are not divinely inspired. But everything we have in the bible has it's place in history. The dates give us a general idea of when or where. I own a Thomson Chain Reference study bible At the beginning of each book in the left hand margin are references to authorship and dates where available. I hope I have not mucked this up to bad.
