What is the deal with "the Lilith" mentioned in Isaiah 34:13-15? I was told that Lilith is Adams 1st wife, and it can be found in older versions of the Bible. In fact Eve is supposed to be his third wife, so if any one can help me please I could use it. Thank you.

Is 34:13 says Thorns will come up in its fortified towers, Nettles and thistles in its fortified cities; It will also be a haunt of jackals And an abode of ostriches. Is 34:14 The desert creatures will meet with the wolves, The hairy goat also will cry to its kind; Yes, the night monster will settle there And will find herself a resting place. Is 34:15 The tree snake will make its nest and lay eggs there, And it will hatch and gather them under its protection. Yes, the hawks will be gathered there, Every one with its kind. Perhaps you might quote the verse for us. I have done a person search and no Lilith is recorded in the Bible, furthermore she is not mentioned anywhere in the text you have quoted. Read Genisis 1:26 through to 3: 24. As for Adam and Eve. In Hebrew Adam is a collective noun meaning mankind, see information note in notes beside the verse here in the search engine, a word also having to do with the Hebrew word for clay adama. The word Eve is Chavvah also from the information search engine here, from an unused word, life, the first woman. Adam and Eve or the Man and the woman as more modern translations refer are meant to be examples out of many of our first parents. As individuals an actual Adam and Eve may not have existed as people with those names. However there were once upon a time the first of all people whom our God created and the Genisis story is that story. The story of mankind's rebellion and falling from grace. The first man of all men may have had numerous wives but this reality is not known to us. What is important for us from these stories of creation is that we absorb the theological truth and that is that our God is creator of all that is. That God created humankind and set them in a perfect world in which they lacked for nothing. Our God also gave them free will and this they chose to use to their and our detriment. Thjough if they had not our Lord Jesus would never have been incarnated and died to set us free. 3 | Who is "Lilith" in Isaiah 34:13-15? | Genesis | Morant61 | 38597
Greetings Rainbow Maker! Concerning the quote you used about Adam, I have one question. If Adam simply means 'mankind', then in Gen. 5:5 did 'mankind' only live a total of 930 years? Or, did all of 'mankind' produce a son named Seth in Gen. 5:3? Or, was Paul wrong in Rom. 5:19 when he referred to Adam as 'one man'? Yes, the word 'adam' can refer to mankind. However, Scripture is very clear that Adam was the first man created. He had a wife named Eve. They bore chilren togther. The lineages are provided for their children. Scripture is also clear that this 'one man' sinned and brought death and condemnation into the world. In an exact correspondence, the 'one man' Jesus brought life into the world. In my opinion, any view that makes Adam and Eve into types or examples only, ignores the historical statements of the Bible and creates some huge theological problems. For instance, who fell? If only one of many couples feel, then how could every person inherit a sin nature, since not every person would be related to the couple who fell? Just some thoughts! Greetings Tim, Gen 5:5 says So all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years, and he died. The Hebrew word for Adam here is from the same as 120; meaning the first man, also a city in the Jordan Valley:Adam 12 I always like to check the etymology and translation of Words because it helps me to understand what was being said in the first place. It appears that one of two Hebrew words are used to refer to Adam and may be singular or plural. So that sometimes the Bible refers to a man called Adam and sometimes to mankind collectively. So in this case it is a man called Adam whom is referred to and it is he who lived for 930 years. Naturally it was he who fathered Seth since many men cannot father a single individual. Note that in the first story of creation in Genesis chapter one that no name is given for the man and the woman furthermore that it the term man which translates as humanity because what follows is plural because God says let them. Gen 1:26 Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth." Gen 1:27 God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Gen 1:28 God blessed them; and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth." It is not until chapter 2 that we have the name Adam for the man and not until verse 20 and note that firstly here it is just the man and then it is Adam;Gen 2:20 says The man gave names to all the cattle, and to the birds of the sky, and to every beast of the field, but for Adam there was not found a helper suitable for him. Rom 5:14 says Nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those who had not sinned in the likeness of the offense of Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come. Here note that Paul is refering to Adam as a Type of Christ, so it is legitimate to do so. Paul also says that sin reigned over everyone even over those who did not sin in the manner of Adam. So whether Adam and Eve were our first parents or merely typify them this has no effect whatsoever on our status today. Also it seems not to matter whether we are directly related to Adam because due to his sin we are all under the penalty of the Law see Rom 3:23 which tells us that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.
