Greetings Paul! The lifespan of people in those days (Gen. 4:14) was much longer than that of today, so I would conclude that the people in Gen. 4:14 were also descendants of Adam and Eve, since they had many children (Gen. 5:4). "4:14 anyone ... kill me. This shows that the population of the earth was, by then, greatly increased. As a wanderer and scavenger in an agrarian world, Cain would be easy prey for those who wanted his life." [MacArthur Study Bible, pg. 22, 1997, Word Publishing] - Nolan |
