41 Praying Rosary to Washington/ Matt 15:6 jlpangilinan 71682
  Emmaus,

Quote"As for worshiping statutes and images as idols- catholics no more worship than than Americans worship stautes of Washington and Lincoln and other heros that we see all over this country. They are eminders of the people they represent.
Have you every seen and illustrated childrens bible or any other picture of Jesus in a Protestant context? Do you consider them idols?"

Answer;

Emmaus did you see anyone thier in the U.S. worshiping the statue of Washington? Are they really pray rosary into that statue? Are they recite prayers and say "pray for us sinner now and the our of our death AMEN" did your american people done this things to that statue or the statue of liberty?

When God prohibit idols, He include guidance why it was an idolatry:

Ex 20:4
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or
any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or
that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water
under the earth:
Ex 20:5
Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve
them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God,
visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto
the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

There are makers of images of michael jordan and other famous persons, I am sure it is not sin. But if start serving thier idols bow on them and praying for them, then the idolatry comes in.

43 Is the request of Christ Granted? NT general Archive 1 jlpangilinan 70619
  Is this request granted?

Lu 23:34
Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know
not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and
cast lots.

In local telivision in the Philippines a certain pastor aired his teaching regarding this verse. We are going to meet him to have a friendly discussion after December 25,.

The teaching of the said pastors goes:

1. Judas was forgiven because he just fulfilled his role in the death of Jesus Christ.
a)In the case of judas, his reasoning that the reason why judas did his part because Christ allows the devil to enter the heart of judas

All chracter that participated in the death of Jesus Christ was forgiven, pontious pilate, the scribes pharisees and other group of people that gave way to crussified Christ is all saints. The verse that quoted to prove his claim is the verse I quoted. "forgive them for they know not why they do" It means he said, all character in that said events was forgiven because they only fulfill thier role in that scripted way of salvation.

Any comments are welcome agree, or disagree.

God bless,

Johnny

46 babies baptism Acts 2:38 jlpangilinan 68772
Be honest my friend, if we continue the verse to 40, and 41 it is stated that they gladly received his word, do you think little babies capable of understanding the word and received it and be baptized?

The promise to thier children, of course they were received the bapptism if they understand already the doctrine, and I know you knew that "children" is not mean always "young ones or babies, even how old are you children is atill applicable to you.

Ac 2:40
And with many other words did he testify and exhort,
saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.

Ac 2:41
Then they that gladly received his word were baptized:
and the same day there were added unto them about
three thousand souls.

You write "We are simply not going to agree on this. Having now clearly stated our positions there is no point in going over the same ground again and again."

It is very simple to me to agree, just show me the scriptures that will support your claim, and I will agree. Be reminded that this is a bible forum, so we should source our answers with the passages in the bible and not from somewhere else especially if it is about the doctrine of the bible.

God bless,

Johnny

47 babies repentance Acts 2:38 jlpangilinan 68639
Emmaus you are right that there other opinion oppose you post

"You write" Think of all the new Testament "whole households" that were baptized in Acts. Nowhere are children mentioned as being excluded. What is the likelihood that all these were childless households? See Acts 2:38-39;"

You quoted this but not really give the right explanation to the one asking: you said that they dont exclude the children, but you know that little children dont know how to repent:

Ac 2:38
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized
every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the
remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the
Holy Ghost.

Ac 2:39
For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to
all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God
shall call.

Peter start it with "repent" do you think little babies would know how to repent? I know catholics baptized 1 month old babies do you think they know how to repent?

please show me in the scriptures that there are little babies, that repent and baptized by the aopostle.

God bless,

Johnny

49 limited protestant? Bible general Archive 1 jlpangilinan 63899
  Limited protestant?

Why some doctrine and traditions of catholic accepted by the protestant?

Ex. Christmas.

in first 330 years it was celebrated january 6. after 330 years of catholic religion, christmas date designated every 25 of december the very exact date of celebration of pagan god of rome satur "saturnilla"
---source catholic encyclopedia volume II page 607

Is there any apostle in the bible that celebrate the said events, is there any doctrine that give by the apostle that there is Christmas "the mass of Christ" and christian has to celebrate it or is this a truly invention of man:

Ec 7:29
Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man
upright; but they have sought out many inventions.

Paul mentioned "that ye might
learn in us not to think of men above that which is
written,

1Co 4:6
And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred
to myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that ye might
learn in us not to think of men above that which is
written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against
another.

Also scripures is complete why source from traditions whic is not in the bible

Isa 34:16
Seek ye out of the book of the LORD, and read: no one
of these shall fail, none shall want her mate: for my
mouth it hath commanded, and his spirit it hath
gathered them.

Ec 7:29
Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man
upright; but they have sought out many inventions.

50 Jesus know all things why marvelled? NT general Archive 1 jlpangilinan 62975
I asked this question before but I dont get the right answer:

In this verse Peter said that Christ know all things.
Joh 21:17
He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas,
lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said
unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said
unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest
that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep

In the book of Matthew the author write that Jesus marvelled when he found such great faith in the person of roman officer.
Mt 8:10
When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them
that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so
great faith, no, not in Israel.

My question is who say/write the true how come that Jesus marvelled if he knew all things He must expected that faith of roman officer, but He marvelled?

God bless,

51 Flood kills whales and sharks Genesis jlpangilinan 62908

Gen 6:17 "Behold, I, even I am bringing the flood of water upon the earth, to destroy all flesh in which is the breath of life, from under heaven; everything that is on the earth shall perish.

If this verse include life in water such as whales did Noah bring partner of whales in the ark? Or God just created again those form of life i.e. whales big sharks etc.

God bless,

Johnny
52 Who wrote the truhth? Matt 7:29 jlpangilinan 61811
In this verse, Peter said that Jesus know all things

Joh 21:17
He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas,
lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said
unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said
unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest
that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

But in this verse Matthew said that Christ surprise when he found great faith in a roman officer

Mt 8:10
When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them
that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so
great faith, no, not in Israel.

If peter was right assessing that Christ know all things, Christ should know about that faith of roman officer why he marvelled? Do you think Christ marvelled if He know all things?

Johnny
53 Man Seen God the Father? John 1:18 jlpangilinan 58806
  Forum members,

I saw some of the broadcast of benny hinn here in the Philippines, its a reply. He had this certain guest I forget the name(Jessie I think). According to this guest he saw God the Father and Jesus Christ in heaven, he even ate with them. What do you think of this claim? Do you think it is different from John statement:

Joh 1:18
No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten
Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath
declared him.

Any thoughts

55 Elijah went to heaven alive 2 Kin 2:11 jlpangilinan 36387
Is Elijah went to heaven alive?

2Ki 2:11
And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked,
that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses
of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went
up by a whirlwind into heaven.

According to apostle Paul:

1Co 15:52
In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last
trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall
be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

1Co 15:53
For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this
mortal must put on immortality.

1Co 15:54
So when this corruptible shall have put on
incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on
immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying
that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

1Co 15:55
O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy
victory?

With the assessment of Apostle Paul. Can we say that 2 kings 2:11 is wrtitten with exageration?

58 Please answers my points Deut 5:21 jlpangilinan 32688
  Emmaus,

If I said that you serve idols you must defend that you are not serving it, kindly provide me the passages that will support you that kneeling in the graven images is teaching of Jesus Christ then I will stop saying that you are actually worshiping idols. That is why I said that because I saw it catholic that they are kneeling in graven images, bringing in the streets putting flowers on them pray for them, and reciting rosary to them, is that true or not? Now if you think doing those things is biblical teaching why you dont try to provide me the passages that will stated so you can tell me that kneeling in graven images is really a biblical teaching. That is your duty my friend to defend, to explain what you believed in. If you think that kneeling in graven images is teaching of Jesus Christ, then it is you duty to give us the proof.

Its seems that you dont want to try answering my points, you just escaping from the topic. What you do is to get one point that it is very far from what I am asking you to defend. I know that you know that when I asked you those question what I want really is biblical support and if you can defend what you believed in.

1. When you pray the rosary to the saints or any novena to any saints, is that biblical or not? If it is biblical kindly show me the passages that will support that praying for the saints is teaching of Jesus Christ. I hope you can provide your answers.
2. When you kneel in graven images, is that biblical or not? If it is biblical please provide me the passages that will support that kneeling in the front of any graven images is really teaching of Jesus Christ. I hope you can provide passages that will support that kneeling in graven images is really teaching of Jesus Christ. If you really believed in your congregeation you should defend it against who criticize it. If you believed in something you must ready to defend what you believed in. I hope you will provide answers in my questions

God bless,

Johnny
59 Pray Rosary Deut 5:21 jlpangilinan 32645
  Emmaus,

You Said:Catholic doctrine does not approve serving idols, it condems it. We do not pray for saints. We ask saints, living here on earth or in heaven to pray with us and for us. We are all in Christ. Death does not separate us in Him.

Are you denying that you pray the rosary? is that biblical too? where in the teaching of Jesus Christ that we should pray to Mary so we will get closer to Jesus as catholic doctrine taught. What Jesus said was" I am the way the truth and the life, no one comes into the father but by me" or we should put additional but you should pray to saints or Mary?. I dont believed that you dont serve the idols, catholics bringing graven images in streets putting flowers on them kissing them and praying for them are denying this practices? you kneel in the front of graven images when you pray or are you denying that also. Please provide your answers here.

You said"I hope in honor of the literal commandment as you quoted it, you have destroyed all photographs of all your loved one"

My Answer:
Why do I have to destroy photographs of my love ones, can you put a little logic? do I pray for them to help me closer to God NO! did I bring them to streets and put flower to them and recite a rosary to them? NO! Did I kneel in front of them NO! I know what the differences between the two!

Please provide answers.

I have many things to ask about you faith I hope you will be open to answers those.

God bless,

Johnny
60 Why God tolerated Abraham and Isaac? Genesis jlpangilinan 29314
  Genesis 20:1-12

If abraham is truly a man of God why he afraid for his life? He is coward? a liar (although we know that sarah is his half sister) but he dont tell the whole truth to Abimelech. If we analyze these verses and what happened when Abraham offer Isaac to God it seems that abraham is ready to kill his son but he afraid if his life is the one involve?

Why God tolerated this kind of actions of Abraham?

If we read of what happen to Rebecca and Isaac (Gen 26:1-22)the same thing that he lie to Abimelech for he afraid that people might kill them because rebecca is beautiful. Are they family of a coward and liar? what kind of Man of God these persons was?

God bless,

Johnny
