Peace Upon You Keliy, It's because someone reported that specific post as a violation and upon examing that post the websmaster deleted it. Which was done to mine. I received an email asking if I wanted to register a complaint and chose not to. If the whole posting isn't investigated and just a particular post, why waste the time. Shalom Keliy, I agree and I do apologise for becoming upset for WOS's demand for an apology. To suggest my post led "Hank" to conclude he wasn't on a Christian site because I was Christ-like and honored our Father's Sabbath should have been corrected! because he was dealing specifically with their divorcing out of lust not domestic violence. Their are other contexts where people were dealt with by treating their wives with abuse. Context, Context, Context... As a former Police Officer I would school kids that the drugs they were using could get them arrested. However, that's not the only thing that could get them arrested. I dealt with the problem at hand(context) which was drug abuse. However we know if "illegal guns" were a problem I would inform them. Illegal guns would get you arrest. They should be confused and respond, "Wait a minute Officer, You only stated that the drugs were using would get us arrested, we're confused". LOL, Sidney |

Pete, Yes and once again in the context of Mt.5:32 and Mt.19:9. So once again..... do you want to go specifically into whether divorce is warranted by domestic violence? AS you've stated the obvious. It does warrant divorce. If we leave the context of Matthew narratives we will find them. I couldn't understand why in your first post you went on the offense about others claiming how you wonder off context BUT NOW I UNDERSTAND. Your responses and reasonings are non-sequitor. In your first blog you didn't say anything about violence. You were confused about Mt.5:32 which Mt.19:9 clarified. If the CONTEXT dealt with the Pharisees abusing their wives, Christ answer would have been different but the context was the Pharisees divorcing and remarrying for ANY reason. Again, if the context was about ABUSE then Christ answer would have been different in Mt.19. But it's not, that's found in other verses outside of the context Matthew recorded. Can you find a context where Scripture permits divorce from domestic violence? I'm sure you can. But it won't be in the context of Matthew 5:32 or Mt. 19. Pete, Your question pertained to the CONTEXT of Matthew's recording of Christ's words in Mt.5 which was clarified in Mt.19. AGAIN, in that context Christ elucidated that adultery is the only cause of the effect as we compared. The CONTEXT dealt with the Pharisees abuse of Scripture to marry who they wanted and divorce when the wanted. Now if you want to deal with "Violence" in marriage. That's another topic. Pete, You claim to read context but you leave out a lot in your post. Christ as did God's Law only allows divorce when the covenant is broken by adultery. Not for any reason whatsover. The experts actually abolished God's law by their interpretations. They were using God's Law to support their lust(MT.19:3) and divorcing for any reason. Also, Christ warned that the same type of mercy we show to others, the same will be visited upon us. This is why he states, he who is without sin cast the first stone. I would not be quick to stone sinners but like Christ, allow them to repent and instruct them to "sin no more". Christ didn't abolish"eye for an eye". The original commandment was perverted into a means for revenge when it was meant to actually check and balance any punishment. Their are some who ignore the beam of wood in their eye and wish to punish those who have splinters. What did Jesus Do? He died for you and gave you grace. Imagine if Christ treated you like you want to treat others? I'm glad Christ had mercy on me while I was a sinner. Finally, I hope you don't go around divorcing people for no reason. Val, What does the Holman commentary state about Mt.5:17-19? It is interesting that the greek word for "setting aside" the law of Moses in heb10:29 is ATHETEO which according to Thayer's at biblestudytools.net means- to do away with, to set aside, disregard to thwart the efficacy of anything, nullify, make void, frustrate to reject, to refuse, to slight And in agreement is Dictionary of Biblical Languages with Semantic Domains-REJECT, REGARD AS INVALID. Anyone who regarded God's Law as invalid had no means of atonement/sacrifice for their willful disobedience. If I regard God's law, which the author quotes, as invalid(Cf.Mt.5:17-19,Rom.8:7)I have no hope, and vice-versa if I regard Christ's atonement as invalide or REJECT it for my own rules how much more severe I will be treated. It's a little lengthy but the United Bible Society's Handbook for Translator's states: This apparently simple verse presents a surprising number of translation problems. The verb translated disobeys has a range of meanings from “declare invalid,” as in 7.18, to “reject.” The word for disobeys is a strong word, used not of incidental sins, but of breaking the whole covenant (Ezek 22.26), for example, by idolatry (Deut 17.2–7), false prophecy (Deut 18.20), or blasphemy (Lev 24.13–16). In order to emphasize the willful disobedience involved in disobeys, it may be well to translate the first part of verse 28 as “Anyone who refuses to obey the laws given through Moses” or “If a person refuses to obey the Law of Moses.” The main verb, meaning is put to death or “dies,” is in the present tense. It is uncertain whether, even before the destruction of Jerusalem in A.D. 70, Jewish courts had the legal right to inflict the death penalty. People were sometimes lynched, as in Acts 7.57–60, but that is a different matter. The writer is generally more interested in the earlier history of Israel than in current events. Here he is concerned with what the Law demanded, not with how it was applied in his own time. In any case, the verb for is put to death is part of a free quotation. It may therefore be better to translate is put to death as “was put to death.” In some instances, however, it may be necessary to change the passive is put to death into an active form, and therefore to introduce “the authorities” or “the officials”; for example, “the authorities put him to death” or “the officials executed him.” The phrase without any mercy may be expressed in some languages as an entirely separate clause; for example, “they did not at all show mercy” or “they did not think twice when they put him to death.” The witnesses should not be emphasized in this verse, but will come into focus in 12.1.
