1 | Are unbelievers in any way "saved"? | Heb 11:1 | gbea | 118413
Interesting discussion. Thanks, BradK and Rowdy. Surely, God shines the sun and brings the rain on the wicked and the just. In a sense, perhaps He’s “saving” people from some things by allowing them to live on this earth with breath in their lungs, where His Creation testifies of His goodness. It’s perhaps as if He is allowing them to be saved for a short time from hell, where all evil abounds and is judged (apart from God's presence or Light)… even being patient holding back the antichrist so that men can repent. During the tribulation, even the elect can be deceived and fall. While I do not know exactly how our Creator will judge the unbeliever who has never heard the gospel, I am compelled by the Spirit of God and the Scriptures to believe that all who do not repent of their sins and accept Jesus’ sacrifice in their place are condemned to eternal judgment, having their sins on their head. To believe otherwise would leave the believer with a false sense of being righteous while being idle toward the lost… in not preaching the gospel, in season and out, in heart intent, thought, word, and deed. The western Church, particularly, has become quite content to sit in its lush churches with nice entertainment and self help teaching while the rest of the world goes to hell. Maybe we have a wrong picture and must repent. Before Jesus’ death and resurrection, the gentiles were without relationship to the Living God, instead serving idols and being sons/daughters of Satan. It is only by believing on the One whom our Holy Father sent that we are adopted as children of light. Jesus is truly the only way, truth, and life… and no one comes to the Father but through Him. Oh, that we would seek Him and walk in His anointing, that we would boldly testify of our Lord Jesus' sacrifice... that people would hear and believe and repent and follow Him. There is no hope apart from His salvation. Blessings to you. Thanks again!! GB |

2 | Are unbelievers in any way "saved"? | Not Specified | gbea | 118401
Hi. Paul exhorts Timothy to godliness in I Tim 4. At the end of verse 10, he gives a description of part of God's character saying that He "is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe." What does he mean, that those who don't believe in Jesus are still saved from something? I have some small ideas, but I really don't understand here. Let me know if the LORD's given you any insight to share. Thanks and blessings in Yeshua/Jesus, our Savior and King!!! GB |

4 | How did Nehemiah obey the kosher laws ? | Neh 1:11 | gbea | 117567
Another idea... Today's kosher laws are in many ways a compilation of years of tradition and added restrictions. After the Jewish exile from Israel in the 1st and 2nd centuries, many of them ended up in Spain and spread to northern Africa (now their descendents are called Sephardic Jews), and many spread to Europe (now their descendents are called Ashkenazi Jews). Because they lived under persecution for most of this existence, the rabbis wanted to distinguish the Jewish people from their gentile oppressors and pagans. Therefore, they made the laws more strict, with the Ashkenazi traditions being more strict because they faced greater persecution. They wanted to be set apart from this evil and did not want blend in with society or compromise their call to be a light unto the nations (seems we followers of Jesus Christ - Messiah Yeshua - today could learn from this quest for holiness and sanctification). Because of these added restrictions added in the Diaspora, the kosher laws (kashrut) of today are more strict than the kosher laws of Nehemiah's day (I don't know to what extent). Who knows, perhaps Nehemiah not only tasted the food but oversaw its preparation, etc. (slaughtering particularly)... in turn making the king eat only kosher food. Blessings in your studies of the Scriptures... GB |

5 | Discerning bad fruit and apostasy | Bible general Archive 2 | gbea | 117467
Thanks very much for your response, Hank. I'm prayerfully looking through some of the findings. I know everything I find isn't true (I work with media and study it)... and that the enemy is the Accuser. I also know that there are many things I've said that could be quoted in whatever context... I often say things that are wrong or stupid and am seeking the Lord to purify my heart, mind, thoughts, and words. Then again, I also know that some of these things are not good. I sent a message to the 700 Club. Oh, LORD, help us. Please let your Kingdom come and your will be done on this earth just as it is in heaven!!! Blessings to you, GBea |

6 | Discerning bad fruit and apostasy | Bible general Archive 2 | gbea | 117448
Hi, I've been blessed to watch the dialogue of this forum. I, too, have confusion about the issue of Benny Hinn and false teaching. I am a supporter of the 700 Club and have been blessed of God through them. It baffles me that they had Benny Hinn on, if he’s a false prophet. I read the list of proofs that he's false the this website: www.deceptioninthechurch.com/bhinn.html, and they seemed to be very convincing (I was directed there from a comment here). I try to be very, very cautious about calling good evil, and evil good, as the Scriptures warn ("Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness..." Isaiah 5:20). If his works are good, I don’t want to call them evil. If they’re evil, I don’t want to call them good. It's like I feel like I need to not say anything because I don't know. However, I know this issue will not go away... I need to understand and walk in discernment. While reading the Scriptures last night, the issue of false prophets came up again… it won’t go away, so I need to deal with it. The Scriptures constantly warn us, and, as I understand, we are entering into days of greater apostasy and perversion against God’s Word and Truth. The Scriptures exhort us to test the spirits, so we should test the spirit(s) in him. ("Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world." 1 John 4:1). How do we do that?? Jesus said you'll know them by their fruits. ("Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thorn bushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them." -Matt 7:15-20). It appears that people are saved and healed in some instances... but in others, there's evidence that people are not healed. So is his fruit good or bad? I am just not interested in speaking against what God is doing. Could it be that he's just off a little bit and we need to pray for him?? Really, which of us is not off a little bit? No one has full revelation, etc. Of course Satan will want to discredit everything God does... causing divisions and bringing accusation as the accuser of the brethren. Also, with the same measure we judge, we will be judged. Sorry for continuing to bring this topic up, as I have read through most of the archives on it at this Forum and spent several hours reading the info on the internet. It keeps coming up, and I just don’t know what to do. I don’t want to join Satan in accusing. I know really precious children of God who have gotten in this spiral of accusing all of these people and talking about them but forget to talk about the Goodness of our King and to have praises on their tongue, like it’s stolen their joy. They get on an agenda to expose deception but forget to talk about the Lord God and walk in love and humility. However, I don’t want to be deluded and deceived either. As you all, I just want to see the Lord Jesus magnified, to see His Kingdom established on this earth… to prepare the way for His coming and purify myself… to see His Church purified. He alone is worthy of all honor and praise. Any counsel for me? Thanks. Many blessings, Glory Bea. |

7 | What is the approx. date of the flood? | Gen 7:6 | gbea | 116848
I recorded all the geneology from Adam through the Flood. It seems that the Flood occurred approximately 1,704 years after Adam (began aging?). Going on the current Jewish calendar (which says we're 5764 years after Adam), the flood occurred 4,060 years ago, or 2056BC. I haven't yet computed it biblically myself yet... I'm getting there, though. I'm currently with the beginnings of the 12 tribes of Israel. |

8 | I understand that but why did Noah curse | Gen 9:25 | gbea | 116799
Thanks for the response. Right about Canaan not being born yet… sorry. It actually is immaterial, though… whether Noah saw rebellion in him during or after the ark. I shouldn’t have jumped to the conclusion. So I checked out some commentary at http://www.ldolphin.org/canaan.html The author claims that Ham took sensual pleasure in seeing his father naked. Noah sensed this weakness in Ham but did not want to incriminate himself (for his drunkenness and nakedness) by cursing Ham directly. Noah sensed a more sever weakness in Canaan, so he cursed him to bear sow the continued fruits of this generational sin of sexual immorality. The site goes on to explain the immorality of the Canaanites through history, etc. Interesting that God chose that land (probably before any Canaanite ever stepped there, though) as the place His people would dwell, and His people were ordered to kill all of them because of their idolatry. God said that they had to kill them, otherwise they would be drawn away to worship their gods. This area of sin seems to be one of the most enticing for people still today. Another good point from the site, speaking to the idea of the curse to the 3rd and 4th generation (much more eloquently than I): “The curse on Canaan is the most difficult to understand because, as we suggested in an earlier question, it is hard to see why he should be cursed rather than his father, who actually did the wrong. But we note the following. First, it is a biblical principle (whether liked by us or not) that the sins of the fathers are visited on the children even to the third and fourth generations (Exod. 20:5). Second, the punishment, though inflicted on Canaan, was appropriate to Ham since he reaped exactly as he had sown. He sinned as a son and was punished in his son. Third, the assigning of the punishment to Canaan may have been (as is so often the case in God's judgments) a function of the mercy of God, who could have cursed Ham and all his descendants but instead restricted the punishment to only this fourth part, Canaan being only one of Ham's four sons. Whatever the reasoning may be, the judgment is nevertheless pronounced: "Cursed be Canaan! The lowest of slaves will he be to his brothers" (v. 25).” For another interesting interpretation, check out this site: http://bibletools.org/index.cfm/fuseaction/Library.showResource/CT/BQA/k/119 It claims that it's actually Canaan that saw Noah naked. I don't really agree w/ that... but it doesn't mean I'm not wrong. Hope this all helps in your search. GB |

9 | But can you answer the original question | 1 John 2:27 | gbea | 116790
Answered. See records.
10 | What was the reasoning behind that? Or | Gen 9:25 | gbea | 116789
Wow, it seems harsh that Noah cursed Canaan instead of Ham, since Ham is the one who saw him naked and tried to expose it to his brothers. I don't know the answer, but I'm going to offer a couple ideas… In Gen 9:18, when it lists the sons of Noah who went forth from the ark, Canaan is the only "grandson" who is mentioned. PERHAPS while on the ark, Canaan was in some way rebellious? God was giving him the just reward of his rebellion, for God will not be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. In the Ten Commandments given to Moses on Mt. Sinai, God says in Exodus 20… 2 "I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. 3 "You shall have no other gods before Me. 4 "You shall not make for yourself a carved image -- any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; 5 you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, 6 but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments. I know that these commands were not yet given, but they were clearly in the heart of God from the beginning of time, especially from the beginning of the creation of man. Jewish tradition says that the world was created in memory of the giving of Torah (first 5 books of Moses) at Sinai. Strange to think about, but it seems to at least make a good point that this Torah is in the heart of God. So, the relevant point is in verse 5 where God says that He visits the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Him. There are many different gods to choose from… there always have been. Not obeying GOD is in effect obeying some other god. Perhaps Ham’s disrespect for his father (which broke God’s not yet given (in writing) command of honoring our father and mother, so that “your days may be long in the land that the LORD your God is giving you,” vs 12)… perhaps this disrespect is what brought the curse to his children. It’d probably be difficult for Canaan to honor Ham if he was enslaved to his brothers. Since Ham dishonored his father, his son wasn’t going to honor him. It also seems that Ham did not choose to worship the LORD (YHVH) as God because Gen 9:26,27 makes it seem that only Shem and maybe Japheth served the LORD. You see the same things in families today… many children choose to serve the God of their parents, but many others choose to serve other gods (like drugs, sex, rebellion, you name it). It’s not such a new thing to rebel against parents, eh? I’m interested to see if anyone has something else. I really don’t know… just thoughts… GB |

12 | joshua son of nun | Num 13:16 | gbea | 116781
Here’s some more insight into Joshua, son of Nun, from the Scriptures… a few selected verses that give insight into his character. My favorite is the first -- it seems that Joshua loved the presence of the LORD. Oh that we today would want His presence more than anything else. Exodus 33:11 So the LORD spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. And he would return to the camp, but his servant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, did not depart from the tabernacle. Numbers 11 27And a young man ran and told Moses, and said, "Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp." 28So Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' assistant, one of his choice men, answered and said, "Moses my lord, forbid them!" 29Then Moses said to him, "Are you zealous for my sake? Oh, that all the LORD's people were prophets and that the LORD would put His Spirit upon them!" Numbers 13:16 These are the names of the men whom Moses sent to spy out the land. And Moses called Hoshea the son of Nun, Joshua. Numbers 14 4…"Let us select a leader and return to Egypt." … 6But Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, who were among those who had spied out the land, tore their clothes; 7and they spoke to all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying: "The land we passed through to spy out is an exceedingly good land. 8If the LORD delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, "a land which flows with milk and honey.'[1] 9Only do not rebel against the LORD, nor fear the people of the land, for they are our bread; their protection has departed from them, and the LORD is with us. Do not fear them." Numbers 14:30 Except for Caleb the son of Jephunneh and Joshua the son of Nun, you shall by no means enter the land which I swore I would make you dwell in. Numbers 26:65 For the LORD had said of them, "They shall surely die in the wilderness." So there was not left a man of them, except Caleb the son of Jephunneh and Joshua the son of Nun. Numbers 27:18 And the LORD said to Moses: "Take Joshua the son of Nun with you, a man in whom is the Spirit, and lay your hand on him; Numbers 34:17 "These are the names of the men who shall divide the land among you as an inheritance: Eleazar the priest and Joshua the son of Nun. Deuteronomy 31:23 Then He inaugurated Joshua the son of Nun, and said, "Be strong and of good courage; for you shall bring the children of Israel into the land of which I swore to them, and I will be with you." Deuteronomy 34:9 Now Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom, for Moses had laid his hands on him; so the children of Israel heeded him, and did as the LORD had commanded Moses. Joshua 1:1 After the death of Moses the servant of the LORD, it came to pass that the LORD spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' assistant, saying: Joshua 2:1 Now Joshua the son of Nun sent out two men from Acacia Grove to spy secretly, saying, "Go, view the land, especially Jericho." … Joshua 14:1 These are the areas which the children of Israel inherited in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel distributed as an inheritance to them. Joshua 19:49 When they had made an end of dividing the land as an inheritance according to their borders, the children of Israel gave an inheritance among them to Joshua the son of Nun. Joshua 24:29 Now it came to pass after these things that Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the LORD, died, being one hundred and ten years old. Blessings, GB |

13 | How can I deal with satan showing hiself | Bible general Archive 2 | gbea | 116748
(part #2) Jesus’ name is the name above every other name... meaning that in a hierarchy structure of authority, He is at the top. Even Satan and his emissaries are under Him. God hasn't yet taken full dominion of the earth (He's patient, drawing men to repentance and salvation... it'll be in His perfect timing). However, those who call upon the Name of the LORD shall be delivered. In JESUS' Name, you can have victory. If the Holy Spirit ever convicts you of sin, you just need to confess it and repent of it (turn from it, back onto God’s path). By repentance, you then have a “legal right” to take back any ground that the enemy has stolen. You can kick him out of your life by applying the blood of Jesus (spiritually) to every situation. Looking at the history of Israel’s exodus from Egypt on the first Passover, God had the Hebrews apply the blood of a lamb to the doorposts so that the angel of death couldn’t come in. Jesus became our Passover Lamb. By applying His blood, we can be protected. Oh, there is power in the blood!!! As your sister in Christ, I recommend that if you have another such experience follow the advice of Scripture... -Call upon the Name of the LORD JESUS! (Those who call upon the Name of the LORD shall be delivered, like that other lady said) -Submit to God, resist the Devil, and he will flee from you!! (like that other person said) Other important things you can do to prevent another such experience or at least to be prepared to deal with them if they come: -Study the Scriptures (pray that God will teach you by His Holy Spirit before you read). This is one of the best ways to get to know your God. Not studying for head knowledge (knowledge puffs up, but love edifies), but studying to get to know Your God and His plan for victory in this life! -Memorize Scripture (at least ideas, then phrases, then verses, etc); the Psalms are great to know in times of hardship! -Worship God (sing to Him, thank Him, praise Him), you can actually do this all day in your heart! -Pray and get to know Him... by faith. -Obey God and repent of your sins as He convicts by His Holy Spirit. -Most importantly, TRUST GOD! He alone is able to keep you ...and He is not only able, but willing! He loves you so very much. He didn’t send His Son to die on a cross for the fun of it… He hates sin and evil, and He loves you! You have come out of darkness and have been grafted into His Kingdom of light. He will guide you into victory if you seek Him. He’s able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all that we ask or imagine!!! He sustains the universe by His word, and He knows how many hairs are on your head. He knew all your days before there was one. FUTURE: One day death will be swallowed up in victory. The LORD will be King over all the earth, and we will live in the presence of our Lord forever and ever. Thank you, Jesus, for dying for us... for being obedient unto death on that Cross. You alone are worthy to receive all honor, glory, power and praise. Help us to know, honor, trust, and obey you! May your Kingdom come, and your will be done in Shey’s life, just as it is in heaven! Shey, I respond in a spirit of the Fear of the LORD and a desire to see you grow in relationship with your Heavenly Father and Eternal King. Still, test all I say in prayer and by the Bible, knowing that the Spirit of God is your Teacher. I am not perfect, nor do I have complete revelation (no man has or will have full revelation while in this fallen body, for we all see as through a glass dimly and only in part). But as the brother said earlier, the Spirit of God dwells in those who are His... all because of Jesus' victory and our acceptance of His Lordship through faith... may He teach us and guide us in all truth, to magnify the Lord Jesus!! MOST IMPORTANTLY: I don't know what you mean by "I recently came back to God. I went to church..." Praise God that you're coming back to Him. Have you received the message of the gospel of the Kingdom of God by faith? ...that Jesus died on the cross for your sins and rose again... that He suffered the penalty of sin in your place, that you may be saved from your sins if you believe? See this Scripture... Hebrews 10:7-13 "...(the word of faith which we preach)-- that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, "Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame." For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. For "whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved."" Okay, just had to clear that up :) Now, a brief look at history is important... ETERNITY PAST: Jesus was in the beginning with God and He is the eternal Son of God. All creation was formed through Him. SOME TIME IN ETERNITY PAST, BEFORE MAN (as I understand): The angel Lucifer, who was in charge of worshipping God, was found with pride in his heart and tried to exalt himself above God to be worshipped as God. Nice try-- God kicked him out of heaven, and heLucifer took 1/3 of the angels with him. These angels are now dark/demonic beings who serve Lucifer (other names being Satan, the Devil, the Serpent of old, the Dragon). THE 6-DAY CREATION, BRINGING LIFE AND MAN TO EARTH (Approx. 4,000BC): God created Adam and Eve in His image without sin, and they walked in fellowship with Him. They had dominion over the earth. God told them not to eat of one tree-- the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Eve was deceived into eating the fruit by the Serpent (Satan), who told her she'd be like God, knowing good and evil, if she ate. She told Adam to eat, saying it was good, and he ate. This was the first act of human sin-- disobeying God, missing the mark, walking in a path NOT His. This put a barrier between man and God. All descendents from Adam's seed were (and still are) born into sin. Another huge effect of this sin-- they turned their dominion over the earth to Satan. Satan became the prince of the earth, the ruler of the earth. He rules the earth with his angels/evil spirits. REALITY (as I understand): There currently exists a battle between the Kingdom of God (NOTE: God is and always has been the King of the Universe, never budged from His throne) and the Kingdom of darkness. God reigns in His Kingdom, but because of our sin, the kingdom of darkness is reigning on the earth (NOTE: Satan is a created being). God will one day annihilate the darkness, but He loves mankind and is patient for more people to repent of their sins and accept Jesus' sacrifice. Meanwhile, because of sin, Satan is running rampant on the earth. Satan is a legalist, and when we sin, we give him a legal right to torment our lives. JESUS, BIRTH (Approx. 0BC/AD -- approx. 2,000 years ago): God sent His only begotten Son JESUS to the earth, born of a virgin by the Holy Spirit. Jesus did NOT have the seed of Adam, and He never sinned. JESUS' CRUCIFIXION (Approx. 33AD): Satan attempted to kill Jesus... little did He understand God's love. When Jesus died on the cross, He bore all our sins and He made a public spectacle of Satan. He triumphed over death, and He is now seated on high, at the right hand of the Father. That authority Adam and Eve turned over to Satan when they sinned… well, Jesus won it back! See message #2 (I’ll be more careful before typing so long next time, so it can be one message) |

15 | How to dress when attending church | Bible general Archive 2 | gbea | 116736
Wow, this is the first time I've engaged... amazing! What everyone's said is great. I've heard it's as if we all sit around a giant diamond, and no one can see our dimension, so we share w/ oneanother and get a complete picture of the diamond... and it is the Holy Spirit who teaches and opens our eyes. Anyway, I think it's important to note that man sees the outside of a man and judges him/her thus. However, the LORD GOD sees the heart, and He judges the inward (and of courses our actions). God is not a respecter of persons, nor is He impressed with nice clothes, pretty hair, and beautiful skin. God looks upon him who is contrite in heart and broken in spirit. He desires to have fellowship with us, which requires us to honor Him and not quench His HOLY Spirit. Maybe when we get dressed for "church" or any other thing, we should ask your Heavenly Father if our clothing honors Him... and if it will cause anyone else to stumble (as someone already said). If we want His honest answer, I'm convicted He'll show us. He loves us, friends. Relavent Scriptures I Peter 3.3-4 "Your adornment must not be (merely) external--braiding the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or putting on dresses; but (let it be) the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God." Psalm 51.17 "The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; A broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise." Matt 23.27 "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men's bones and all uncleanness." I Samuel 16.7 But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." 1 Chronicles 28.9 "As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a whole heart and a willing mind; for the LORD searches all hearts, and understands every intent of the thoughts..." Luke 16.15 And He said to them, "You are those who justify yourselves in the sight of men, but God knows your hearts; for that which is highly esteemed among men is detestable in the sight of God." |
