1 | Then it's all settled? | Bible general Archive 2 | figgy | 102826
What a shame:( What a bad thing to happen on your birthday of all days! Never did I see you attack someone personally or assert things without biblical back-up. There is no just basis for this action. It is obvious there are perhaps one or two individuals on this forum who think they know it all and view themselves as better than others. Their objective for a while has been to see you kicked off of here because of their own biases. It is profoundly sad to see this happen on a so-called christian forum. I, for one, will remove myself from membership here. There are many wonderful christians who post here but because of the one or two who dominate this forum in an arrogant way, I will certainly take my leave of here and warn others that involvement in this has potential risks. I have seen numerous sarcastic remarks posted against others, I have seen posted questions belittled and made fun of if they were not articulated with perfect grammer or sentence structure, and I have seen some blatantly false theology spewed out here. I know you told me not to write anything but I feel compelled to make this final note in letting the other forum members know that what you experienced here today was unfounded, unjust, and just plain unfair. You took seriously each and every word you typed and doing God's will was your primary goal. Your posts are certainly tenacious, however, they are better characterized as well thought out, supported by scripture, and loving. In response you sometimes received sarcasm, personal attacks, and man-made arguments not supported with scripture. In my frustration with this, I fired off a couple of notes that I probably should not have. You told me God desires us to be self-controlled. You didn't stoop to their level like I did. Even now you say that this is God's will that you no longer participate here. To anybody who may have made it this far in my post: please, please, please realize that as you involve yourself in this forum be highly aware of the wolves in sheep's clothing. Seek christian fellowship withing your church community, not here. Seek wise counsel from your pastors and elders and those more mature in the faith, not here. Seek God through prayer and through His Word, not here. May God bless you. Figgy |

2 | Please I'm looking for your opinion! | Bible general Archive 2 | figgy | 102259
Hi Radioman, I believe the bible teaches God does as He wishes, carries out what He wills and no one can change that or thwart His plans. His dominion over the world is over the greatest things and the smallest things. I don't think that definition allows for degrees of sovereignty. What are your thoughts? God Bless, Figgy |

3 | Please I'm looking for your opinion! | Bible general Archive 2 | figgy | 102190
Dad- Very funny. You must have been referring to my perfect and angelic behavior growing up:) However, I guess I didn't get to the heart of what I was trying to ask you. I wanted you to comment on this comment by EdB: "In your world you have removed all your responsibility" I would like to hear your defense on why your belief about God's sovereignty does not lead to the statement above. Thanks! Figster |

Amen to your post, it was beautifully articulated! However, I understand one of EdB's points and would be interested in hearing your response. He seemed to make the point (if I interpreted it correctly) that if God holds the degree of sovereignty over our lives and actions that you believe He does, then where does our personal responsibility lie in our relationship with God? That is a great question, would be interested in your take on it:) God Bless, Figgy |

6 | How do you evangelize someone who | Bible general Archive 2 | figgy | 100473
Hi EdB- I had a whole answer written out and "poof" it disappeared off the screen. Let me try it again... First, I really liked your answer to the original question and I wholeheartedly agree that a personal testimony about Christ in your own life can be extrememly powerful. What a blessing that you have the opportunity to share that everyday! I have been in the situation where I have tried to share the gospel with someone who does not believe the Bible is the Word of God. I wish I could say that I had a perfect answer to give that would open their eyes but I don't. I do my best to share what I believe, why I believe it, and how Christ has moved in my life. After that, I pray for them and trust that salvation is His work. I also have the opportunity each week to counsel women in unplanned pregnancies. Most are not Christian. In a counseling situation, after developing a relationship and focusing on her needs and issues, God often provides opportunities to discuss spiritual issues. It's always His prompting and timing for evangelism. These are just a couple of examples since you asked me how I would do it. Certainly, there are too many situations to explicitly go into and many many ways to reflect Christ's love to others. By the way, I'll let John Reformed handle his own responses from now on:) Figgy |

7 | How do you evangelize someone who | Bible general Archive 2 | figgy | 100284
Hi EdB- I think you are on some shaky ground. First off, as followers of Christ we are called to share the gospel and be able to have a defense of our faith. One can have passion and zeal for the lost but that doesn't change the fact that salvation is God's work. We can share our testimonies, and passionately do all of the things that you suggested in your answer to the question but that does not change the fact that God is still the author of salvation. Even with the slickest and most passionate gospel presentation there will still be some who will not believe. Second, how can you possibly make a judgement about a fellow christian's experience with God? Perhaps you could come to a better conclusion with someone who you know intimately. But to make that statement about someone you have only met in "cyberspace" seems to be a HUGE leap and highly innapropriate. Figgy |

8 | "objects of wrath" | Eph 2:3 | figgy | 98893
Hi mommapbs- Thanks for your response. I am total agreement with you that personal criticism is innapropriate. I did not personally criticize anybody. I wanted to point out that sarcastic remarks to other forum members is innappropriate. I apologize that you were grieved by my post. I certainly have no intention of stirring up any disunity. If you would like to expand on where I went wrong in my post, I would be open to hearing you. I actually never even thought about writing a personal profile. I don't really read anybody elses. I will consider doing so. Is it a requirement for being on the forum? Thanks. God Bless, Figgy |

Correction - Proverbs 15:1, not Psalms 15:1. OOPS.
10 | "objects of wrath" | Eph 2:3 | figgy | 98889
Dear Hank- Your argument for banning the C/A discussion goes like this: "What we do know is that sparks will fly, feelings will be hurt, and that the wall that divides the two camps will be raised even higher." OK, that's reasonable. I can see your point. However, then you said to GeneZ in response to his opinion: "Que sera, sera" Then you said to John Reformed: "This evening I happened to glance through the Book of Romans and lo, I discovered that Romans 9 has 8 chapters before it and 7 chapters after it. Just thought I'd pass this on in case you thought Romans 9 was the only chapter in the book. No charge for the service. Glad to oblige." I say this - OUCH. The type of language that perpetrates hurt feelings and divisiveness is the type of language you are using with these last two posts. Sarcasm is not respectful and only serves to provoke others. How can you so vehemently defend your position on this topic and then engage in the type of dialogue that promotes anger and hurt feelings? Just wondering. Psalm 15:1 A soft answer turns away wrath. But a harsh word stirs up anger. God Bless, Figgy |

11 | Who determines our destiny? | NT general Archive 1 | figgy | 98666
Hi Hank- I would disagree that a healthy debate about C/A violates any rules put forth on this forum. However, I really am not interested in winning an argument here. I just wanted it to be known that not everyone is turned off by the topic. I think that the discussion can be fruitful. It looks like we are the only ones currently posting anything on this thread anyway so perhaps the whole thing is over. I just wanted to voice my opinion on the topic and that is all I really want to say. Perhaps we will chat on other issues:) God Bless, Elaine |

12 | Who determines our destiny? | NT general Archive 1 | figgy | 98629
Hi Hank- Thanks for your response. I should start off telling you that I hate baseball:) I do see your point of view and think that you make some valid points. With all due respect (and I do respect your opinions) I guess my thinking is this - debates can be good if those involved debate correctly. It sounds as if this hasn't been the case in the past. However, as long as those involved adhere to the rules of the game then the debate should go on. This is a public forum and regardless of anyone's dislike of the topic, individuals should have the right to converse about it if they wish. In the same manner, those who do not like the topic have the right not to participate. Maybe I am off base here since I haven't been through the past "bloodshed" but this topic does interest me and I am hopeful that it can be discussed in the right spirit. Just my opinion:) God Bless, Elaine |

13 | Who determines our destiny? | NT general Archive 1 | figgy | 98598
Hi Edb- Personally as a member of the forum, I enjoy a healthy debate. I learn from it and am inspired to search the scriptures on what it is that I believe. It could be possible that others may feel the same way. I know it seems like the Calvinist/Arminian debate is "played out" but there may be some who are new to it and can learn from the things that are said here. There are certain topics discussed on the forum that I am not interested so I simply do not read the posts or participate in the discussion. Why all the censorship when anything having to do with this topic comes up? Personally, I am interested in hearing what Genez has to say and would not like to see the conversation taken off the forum. Thats my two cents, no offense:) God Bless, Figgy |

14 | Church curses??? | Bible general Archive 2 | figgy | 98365
Greetings waltherpp32, Thanks for your reply. I had never heard of church curses and apparently neither has anybody else who responded. I have since concluded that what I read was in error. Thanks you for your input! God Bless. Figgy |

Hi Dad- Based on your response as well as the few others, I think I have my answer. I was sort of taken back by what was said in the article. It definitely wasn't the thrust of the artice, just a short paragraph, but it didn't sit quite right. Thanks for the input! Love, Elaine |

16 | Church curses??? | Luke 9:55 | figgy | 98075
Greetings! Thank you so much for your answer. With respect to evil political agendas (i.e. abortion, homosexuality, etc), how is the church as whole called to respond? I am not referring specifically to the abortion minded woman in a crisis or a specific homosexual but rather those involved in perpetrating and promoting such things. The article discusses praying that God would judge them and graciously protect all those on whom they prey. Any thoughts? Thanks! Figgy |

17 | Church curses??? | Bible general Archive 2 | figgy | 98072
Thanks for posting the information. Would you say praying "curses" is the same as praying that God would judge those who are perpetrating evil? Is it unbiblical to pray that God judges such people? Thanks, Figgy |

18 | Church curses??? | Not Specified | figgy | 98060
This is a re-post of a question I asked yesterday. Someone responded without answering the question and it has since gotten "buried". I would like to ask it one more time in the hopes someone can shed some light: I recently read an article by a pastor who I deeply respect. He brought up the topic of corporate imprecations (curses) on those who are driving a particular evil agenda (I am not going to get into what the agenda is because I do not want to get into an issue other than my question). He referred to them as God's enemies (since they are actively and agressively promoting ungodliness) and are appropriate targets of the Church's holy curses. I have never heard of church curses. Anybody have any thoughts, insights, explanations on this topic? Thanks. |
