Dear Emmaus, We have had discussions in the past and I had thought of you as one that understood the Scriptures, but by your statements, "But can we know before we reach the end of the race whether we are running in vain? Not with absolute certainty. Not this side of the finish line. At least that is what some of us hold.", I have been convinced by your own mouth that you have not faith in the Word of God. Even Jesus Himself. Present tense: (Joh 3:18 NASB) "He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. (Joh 5:24 NASB) "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life. (Joh 11:25, 26 NASB) Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?" (Eph 2:6 NASB) and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, And Paul knew he was saved (also present tense) and exhorts us to know it also: (2Ti 4:7, 8 NASB) I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing. If you still continue not to know your standing wherein you stand there also is a verse for you: (Jam 1:7, 8 NASB) For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. As Christ said, some have become so literal and have disected the Scriptures so much, that they have lost the essence of the Word. Jesus said to certain Jews, (Joh 5:39, 40 NASB) "You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me; you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life." And studying to show yourself approved is good, but it continues to say, (2Ti 2:15 NASB) ..."accurately handling the word of truth." Some look more to what man has said rather than what God has said. May you come to know this Jesus, compudex |

8 | Ten Commanments revisited. | Revelation | compudex | 111975
Dear CDBJ, That was a very interesting weblink. My intention is not to contend but to help with some understanding. Although my tactics may be a little crude I think they get attention. Since you have gone to a website to support your references I also now have the right to do the same. (because this forum does not accept the ampersand or equal signs in a weblink, please change all ANDs and Equals that are in brackets [] as, [AND] [Equal], to the ampersand and equal sign in your browser address box) Even logic dictates that the older the manuscripts are the more reliable they are not having been tampered with or translated with new meaning words that distract from their original intent. Therefore, reliable sources must be selected by content. Summary of John Gill's life and studies:(sorry it is quite long). http://www.pbministries.org/books/gill/Sermons[AND]Tracts/summary.htm (I think his accreditation outweighs your website link) John Wesley, Albert Barnes, Scofield and Adam Clarke are also in Gill's corner. John Gill's summation of Rev 18:4 http://www.studylight.org/com/geb/view.cgi?book[Equal]re[AND]chapter[Equal]018[AND]verse[Equal]004 (view of the early church on Rev 18:4) The whole point of the matter is association. There are no personal attacks but doctrinal. As always, God has the final word, "come out of her". |

9 | Ten Commanments revisited. | Not Specified | compudex | 111958
Hello it's me again, (Rev 18:4 KJV) And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. Who is the "her"? Why is the feminine pronoun used? And what do we do with, "Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins"? What association are we to have with her? Very explicitly, compudex |

Dear Emmaus, You have not answered the question. The question has to do with the Decalogue not catechism. "Thou shall not MAKE unto thee any graven image...thou SHALL NOT BOW DOWN to them...". Would this also include statues of humans? God gave Moses the Ten Commandments, He wrote them in stone and now all of a sudden they are "telescoped" into one. What have you done with the Word of God? Yes, I sucked you into this discussion because many of your answers to this forum are from catechism and NOT from the Word of God. The forum's foundational law is NOT to push ones denomination and this you have done repeatedly. Therefore a denominational complaint will be filed with the Lockman Foundation. I have recorded all your answers that reference web links to Catholic websites and all your catechism answers. This forum is based on the Word of God and NOT the words of men and traditions thereof. Greetings, Of a truth you speak. Mar 12:30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. Mar 12:31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. What else is there to say? compudex |

Dear forum, Didn't you just say that the great commission was to preach and baptize? So now, does Paul call Jesus a liar? (1Co 1:17 KJV) "For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect." What do we say, "For Christ sent me not to baptize"? Did Paul know more than Christ? STOP FIGHTING AMOUNGST YOURSELVES ABOUT BAPTISM!!! The bantering back and forth does not exhort the church. If any unbeliever is looking at these posts they would think that even the So-Called-Church cannot come to an understanding. (1Co 1:14 KJV) I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius; Why would Paul say this? Well, look at these posts. Like a bunch of felines sitting on the backyard fence catting and meowing at each other. Brethren, be like minded, Christ NEVER condemned anyone if they believed in Him!! So why do you? Written in love, compudex |

17 | "You have ravished my heart..." | Song 4:9 | compudex | 111239
Greetings dmont, A song, a poem to the beauty that has captivated him. Remember your first love, when you thought about your love, how you felt as though your body could not contain you? Your very being was about to jump right out of your body? Your thoughts where of nothing else? You where stripped of all else, your heart was ravished. Stripped of all conscience, wisdom, understanding and logic. All that mattered was that you were with them. To his wife he says, "My love, you look ravishing!" Be it not for his marriage he would commit sin because of the lust in his heart toward his wife. But now the marriage bed is undefiled. And my lust is no longer lust, but burning desire to be with my wife for she has taken my heart and I willingly gave it. She has captivated me and I am her prisoner. Twice spoken, thou hast ravished my heart, thou hast ravished my heart(Song 4:9). And with an exotic tone, I will say it, "Thou hast ravished my heart." So as the church is to Christ, His creation has ravished His heart and what better betrothal gift could He give His new bride but Himself. No supportive scriptures, just experience. compudex |

19 | differece between tithes and first fruit | Lev 27:30 | compudex | 111104
Greetings olaoluwa, DEFINITIONS: FIRST-FRUITS, n. 1. The fruit or produce first matured and collected in any season. Of these the Jews made an oblation to God, as an acknowledgment of his sovereign dominion. 2. The first profits of any thing. In the church of England, the profits of every spiritual benefice for the first year. 3. The first or earliest effect of any thing, in a good or bad sense; as the first-fruits of grace in the heart, or the first-fruits of vice. TITHE, n. The tenth part of any thing; but appropriately, the tenth part of the increase annually arising from the profits of land and stock, allotted to the clergy for their support. Tithes are personal, predial, or mixed; personal, when accruing from labor, art, trade and navigation; predial, when issuing from the earth, as hay, wood and fruit; and mixed, when accruing from beasts, which are fed from the ground. Example 1: A farmer: First-fruit: When the first apples mature on the trees. Tithe: One tenth of the harvest for that season. Example 2: A worker: First-fruit: Their first paycheck for that year. Tithe: One tenth of all their earnings for the year. These are just simple examples, the older Levitical Laws were much more complicated. Frist-fruit appears to deal more with what the ground brings forth. First-fruits and tithes were brought to the House of the Lord for the Levites so they would not be burdened with daily chores but could then devote all their time in their service to the Lord. The Levites did not receive any "land or real estate" inheretance in the Promised Land as the other tribes did. Their inheretance was The House of the Lord and to serve Him. SCRIPTURE: Tithes: Lev 27:30 And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD'S: it is holy unto the LORD. Lev 27:31 And if a man will at all redeem ought of his tithes, he shall add thereto the fifth part thereof. Lev 27:32 And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatsoever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto the LORD. Lev 27:33 He shall not search whether it be good or bad, neither shall he change it: and if he change it at all, then both it and the change thereof shall be holy; it shall not be redeemed. First-fruits: Deu 26:2 That thou shalt take of the first of all the fruit of the earth, which thou shalt bring of thy land that the LORD thy God giveth thee, and shalt put it in a basket, and shalt go unto the place which the LORD thy God shall choose to place his name there. Hope this helps. It is a fasinating study which gets quite involved. Eph 5:2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. compudex |

20 | What are the different types of worship? | Bible general Archive 2 | compudex | 111075
Greetings Vala, Psa 29:2 Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness. First, God is Holy and that demands reverence. Whatever you do in the name of the Lord with that in mind is worship. That could also included a terrible amount of joy which is sometimes hard to contain. And that is worship, too. David danced naked in front of the Lord. You could be a Holy-Roller, that is worship. You could be very proper and quiet, that also is worship. Jesus said, If you love me you will keep my commandments, that also is worship. Whatever is right and you do is worship. There is nothing you can do with God in your heart and mind that does not please Him. In this context all is worship. compudex |
