1 | Kingdom of God in your heart? | Not Specified | brothersmith | 218111
I am not sure, does anybody know about the phrase "the Kingdom of God is in you"?. I have been hearing people say lately that the Kingdom of God is in your heart. The closest I could find was, "The Kingdom of God is in your midst" - Luke 17:21. Thanks |

4 | Perseverance and the word given here? | Rom 15:5 | brothersmith | 216442
This clears up some things. Still trying to get the hang of the process of folks answering, took a few days before I had time to come back. I do not know any Greek. You seem to understand something about the language there. A visiting Pastor at our church told us that perseverance and encouragement are both adjectives in English in this verse, but not in Greek because they are nouns in this verse. Is this wrong headded thinking? |

5 | Perseverance and the word given here? | Rom 15:5 | brothersmith | 216441
I was taught along these lines, which is exactly why I posted. Interesting that you should say here that Perseverance and Encouragment are Gifts, which is exactly what I was taught about this verse. The idea being that the first part of the verse, although in prayer form is saying God gives us perseverance, as in a gift. Tim Moran seems to be saying that Paul is not writing right here of God specifically stating He is giving perseverance as a gift. Which is what has got me to pondering if Paul meant Endurance. I am still struggling with the concept that the Perseverance of the Saints is something God does. That being true, what exactly is this verse saying about God giving perseverance? |

6 | Perseverance and the word given here? | Rom 15:5 | brothersmith | 216440
Thank you for your input here. Help me out a bit; first clause? Somehow I do not see what you mean as I thought the first clause was verse 5 and the second clause was verse 6. Could you also tell me why your literal translation left out the word gives, as oppossed to the NASB? Romans 5, 6 Please show me how this works, perhaps I am calling it the wrong thing? Clause one - Now may the God who gives perseverance and encouragement grant you to be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus, Clause two - so that with one accord you may wtih one voice glorify God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. |

7 | explain baptism into moses | Bible general Archive 4 | brothersmith | 216389
Romans 10:1 - 5 For I do not want you to be unaware brethren, that our fathers were all under the cloud and all passed through the sea; and all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea; and all ate the spiritual drink, for they were drinking from a spiritual rock which followed them; and the rock was Christ. Nevertheless, with most of them God was not pleased; for they were laid low in the wilderness. The Apostle Paul says in Romans 6:3 Or do you now know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? I hope I understand your question correctly, I wasn't too sure what you needed to know. Here is what I learned from others about what seems to be your question though. Now that Jesus has died on the cross we are baptized into that death He died for us. We have been buried in the baptism of His death, and we have been raised from the death to be able to walk in the newness of life. That would be the Being Baptized Into Jesus in Romans 6:3 -4. Romans 10:1 - 5 speaks of a previous baptism that the Fathers Of Israel were all bapized into; the Baptism Of Moses. The Baptism Of Moses is described briefly in verses 1 - 5 of chapter 10. We have that the Israelites were under the cloud, passed through the sea, all ate and drank the same spiritual food, which was Jesus Christ the Rock who followed them. Their deliverance from Egypt, guidance through the desert, spiritual sustenance was how Jesus Christ guarded them and kept them, "they were drinking from the spiritual rock which FOLLOWED THEM". This all happened to Israel by the power of Jesus Christ, but it was all done through Moses. That would be the Baptism Into Moses. So then, we were never baptized into Moses, but Israel was. And the Baptism was dry because it was SPIRITUAL. In the same way the Baptism in Romans 6:3, 4 is also spiritual, not the water baptism that is the symbol. Hope this helps, but others may see something else. |

9 | Perseverance and the word given here? | Rom 15:5 | brothersmith | 216386
I am pondering the meaning of this verse in terms of the perseverance part and trying to understand something about it. I have been taught that God is the author and finisher of our faith. I have also been taught that the word perseverance here is talking about the Perseverance of the Saints. What I am confused about is whether or not perseverance is a Gift here in this verse, or whether or not perseverance is suppossed to be like the word endurance here? Thanks |
