2 | Help answering non-christians questions! | Bible general Archive 1 | bookdust | 81542
1) Why would God want to make a bunch of people and put them on earth? Things about God are only known because he revealed them to us. But one standard answer is because God wants to display his glory. 2)Why does God "Love" us? Because it is his nature. 3)Why doesn't God do something a bit more fulfilling for himself than sitting in the sky all day and making sure people know right from wrong? He does. He lives inside christians and helps them know Him. 4) Why does God not come and walk among us so that he proves his existence and makes everyone believe and wont have to send anyone to hell? He's been there done that probably has the tee shirt. And he gave us free will. 5) Where is hell? I don't have the address. I don't want it either. 6) If God has been around forever wouldn't he have gotten really lonely over those billions of years before he created earth and killed himself? Silly question? Perhaps this is really an anthropormophic insight to why God made "a bunch of people" in question 1. 7) What does God do all day? Bless and Love 8) God is "perfect" which implies He can do anything; so why can he not get rid of Satan completely, and stop all the evil in the world? It ain't over till it's over. Also free will like question 4. 9)Why does God not talk to ordinary people anymore like he did in the times of the Bible? Ordinary people all over the planet claim he still does. 10) Why are you not supposed to say the Lord's name in vain like I allways do? Respect, reverence for the creator, the one we all owe our existance to. If you dis yourself you have dis'ed him. Like it or not you are made in the image of God. 11) Why are some christians so easily offended? Because some have really thin skin. 12) Why is it a blasphemy to question God? Not sure that it is, as long as it is truthful questioning. 13) What is a blasphemy? From dictionary.com: Our Lord was accused of blasphemy when he claimed to be the Son of God (Matt. 26:65; comp. Matt. 9:3; Mark 2:7). They who deny his Messiahship blaspheme Jesus (Luke 22:65; John 10:36). Blasphemy against the Holy Ghost (Matt. 12:31, 32; Mark 3:28, 29; Luke 12:10) is regarded by some as a continued and obstinate rejection of the gospel, and hence is an unpardonable sin, simply because as long as a sinner remains in unbelief he voluntarily excludes himself from pardon. 14) Why must we capitalize pronouns that refer to Him? Must? not really. But sometimes it might help us keep our reference. ;) |

3 | what sould i do? | 1 John 1:5 | bookdust | 81540
Churches can be looked at as human institutions and you will see many horrible faults. Churches can also be looked at as living things that God created. When you look at me you can see my faults, but you may also see the Spirit of God that lives inside. When I look at you I may also see some of your faults. I hope I will also see the Spirit of God inside you as well. Go to church but remember you have to look for the Spirit of God and not for the faults. If you see a fault in me I hope you will correct me in love so that I will be a better christian. When you go to chruch you can have others correct your faults and you in turn may correct the faults of others and we all grow in Christ. |

5 | No money for tithes? | Mal 3:8 | bookdust | 81533
See also Galatians 3:9-11. Tithing is optional under the new covenent. It was required under the law in the old testament. Christians are not bound by the law. However I would encourage you to set a goal to give to God and His work. The amount is up to you. Giving is a Christian dicipline encouraged by Jesus. A tithe is 10 percent which is a good goal but you have the freedom in Christ to set whatever goal you desire. Matthew 6 2 "So when you give to the poor, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may be honored by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full. 3 "But when you give to the poor, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving will be in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you. |

6 | Moral marital question | Prov 13:22 | bookdust | 81528
Your concern over not pleasing God by also filing for divorce is noble but naive. God will forgive you. God will also forgive her, but... It appears you wife is divorcing you. I don't know what the laws of your state are but one scripture comes to mind. Proverbs 13:22 A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children, And the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous. If your wife is intent on your financal ruin to hurt you, what she may not realize or care about is that she is recking the financial future of your children. You, in my opinion, should take steps to preserve your estate for the future of your children. Divorce is not what God intended but God will not force someone to be married against their will. The state will most likely grant her a divorce and if you don't protect yourself and your kids legaly it will most likely make things like collage money for them evaporate. You may have to do legal battle to keep some of what you have built together during these 11 years. It has been my observation that many (starting with my own mother) divorced women treat child support/alimony as excess income. Once the court awards it, it is very difficult or impossible to get it back. Now your motive is, in my opinion, very importatnt. You need to do this for your children and not to "get even" with your wife. |
