1 | "If" we sin .... | 1 John | b.g.guitar | 80966
Okay, This is a very good question i have been asked before. Lets start with what John 2:1 is talking about. John writes that if anyone sins (which is everyone) we have Jesus to defend us. So if we know God as our personal savior he will defend us just like you would defend your best friend because Jesus is our best friend. In John 2:1 says that no one who lives in Jesus keeps sinning. I interpret this as: no one who lives in Jesus keep comitting the same sin over, and over, and over, and over again, because if these people truly wanted to get rid of their sin they would ask for God to help them and it would be gone, if they wanted it gone in their heart. So they do not contradict each other only because they are talking about two diferent things: John 2:1 talks about natural sin that we ask God to take away from us. John 3:6 talks about repeated sin without asking for Gods help. In Christ Dave anymore questions? send them to david@whatagod.zzn.com |

2 | Trying to help a friend | Philippians | b.g.guitar | 80964
In Philippians 2:1-11 God is telling us to be humble and to do nothing for ourselves. He wants us to do everything humbly and to encourage and brag on other christians expecting nothing to be returned to us. In verse 5 it says: "let this mind be in you which also was in Christ Jesus" Right there it asks us to think like God in everything we do. Some may consider it dishonoring to God to think like Hiim but it says in verse 6 that God doesn't consider it a robery to be equal in the mind with God as long as we take the form of a servant, honoring God in everything we do and allowing him to control our lives instead of ourselves. |

5 | are there any types of fasting besides f | Bible general Archive 1 | b.g.guitar | 80832
Yes! You can fast from anything. If you're thinking about fasting first pray about it, and then ask God to give you someting to fast from. It can be anything from food to listening to non-christian music. When you fast from these things, spend the time you usually spend eating, or listening to music, to have a bible study or to pray. 7 | Ps109:1 | Matt 6:1 | b.g.guitar | 80830
Matthew 6:17-18 But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that it will not be obvious to men that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. Fasting is abstaining form anything you love or need and replacing it with God. Many people think of fasting as not eating but it's not just that. You can fast from anything from eating to listening to non-christian music. You stop doing these things and duriong the time you would normally be listening to music or eating you would spend the time with God in prayer, worship, or Bible study. The passage above talks of fasting as a commandment. It says to fast in private. In other words, don't go out telling everyone you are fasting so everyone will be pruod of you. Do in private for God, because God see's the hidden works you do. As i said above, this passage talks about fasting as if it is a commandment. It says "when you fast," not if you fast. So yes, fasting is still needed in out daily lives. Remember, before you fats be sure to pray about it and let God tell you what to fast from. In Christ Dave |

8 | salvation for children | Ps 72:4 | b.g.guitar | 80826
Psalm 72:4 He will defend the afflicted among the people and save the children of the needy; he will crush the oppressor. Isaiah 49:25 But this is what the LORD says: "Yes, captives will be taken from warriors, and plunder retrieved from the fierce; I will contend with those who contend with you, and your children I will save. In these two passages he specifically talks about saving children in need. I'm not sure about the age of accountability but i will keep looking. About what happens to their soul...I think it's just like any other christians soul. We go to heaven and worship God the rest of our days!!! In Christ Dave |

9 | Hold fast the Scriptures- then memorize? | NT general Archive 1 | b.g.guitar | 80823
Hey this is a very good question. But the Bible says we are saved by grace not by works. True it is a very good thing to memorize the scriptures. It helps you witness to other people and it allows you to grow stronger as a christian, but it is more important to believe in the word of God than to memorize it. |

10 | Help answering non-christians questions! | Not Specified | b.g.guitar | 80822
I was witnessing to a person i knew and they asked the following questions. Some of them are a little strange but they are good questions. Can you help me answer some? Please include scriptures if you know some. 1) Why would God want to make a bunch of people and put them on earth? 2)Why does God "Love" us? 3)Why doesn't God do something a bit more fulfilling for himself than sitting in the sky all day and making sure people know right from wrong? 4) Why does God not come and walk among us so that he proves his existence and makes everyone believe and wont have to send anyone to hell? 5) Where is hell? 6) If God has been around forever wouldn't he have gotten really lonely over those billions of years before he created earth and killed himself? 7) What does God do all day? 8) God is "perfect" which implies He can do anything; so why can he not get rid of Satan completely, and stop all the evil in the world? 9)Why does God not talk to ordinary people anymore like he did in the times of the Bible? 10) Why are you not supposed to say the Lord's name in vain like I allways do? 11) Why are some christians so easily offended? 12) Why is it a blasphemy to question God? 13) What is a blasphemy? 14) Why must we capitalize pronouns that refer to Him? Thanks for all your help in advance, In Christ Dave |
