1 | What was the answer? | 1 Sam 28:12 | Nicholson | 80790
From Isa.12 and Ezek.28 we can understand that before the creation of man, God was ruling over the earth through angelic beings. The chief of them was Satan. But when Satan was disqualified, God created man in His own image and likeness to replace Satan. Man also became disqualified because of his fall. But God did not reject man. God made a plan of restoring the fallen man back to the original purpose for which he was created. But till man is restored to rule alongwith the Man Christ, Satan continues to hold the sceptre.(Lk.4:6, 2Cor.4:4, Eph.2:2, etc.) But day is fast approaching, when Satan will be cast into hell, and man alongwith the Man Christ will take the sceptre and start ruling over the whole earth. Man consists of SPIRIT, SOUL and BODY. At the time of death these three are separated from each other. The spirit goes to the Father, the soul enters the sheol/hades, the body returns to the dust. At resurrection, before judgement, (saved and unsaved) the spirit, soul and body are reunited. We get back the spirit from the father, the soul returns from sheol/hades and a new body (it will be a glorious body for the saved individuals) is given by God. This is clearly seen at the time of the death of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Luke 23:46, Acts 2:24,27, Matt.27:59,60) For more details, please see TIME CHART on my web page http://personal.vsnl.com/nicholson/godslove/timechart |

4 | What was the answer? | 1 Sam 28:12 | Nicholson | 80254
The realm of all the dead is called SHEOL in the Old Testament. It is called HADES in the New Testament. The government of the whole earth including the realm of the dead was in complete control of Satan and his angels (demons). The Lord Jesus Christ, at the time of His death on the cross, entered the realm of the dead. He tasted death for every man. (Heb.2: 9,14,15) But it was not possible that He should be held by death. (Acts 2:24) After the death of our Lord, the power of Satan over the realm of the dead ended. And Satan's power over the whole earth will also come to an end very soon. (Rev.11: 15) So during the days of the Old Testament, Satan and the demons could bring back the soul of Samuel. |

5 | What is POURING of the Spirit? | Acts 2:17 | Nicholson | 61398
Since the work of the Holy Spirit is often wrongly understood and wrongly taught, I have tried to explain it under three headings. 1) the INDWELLING, 2) the FILLING and 3) the POURING. Many cult groups have cropped up because of a wrong understanding of these things. A believer is sealed and INDWELT by the Holy Spirit from the time of his salvation. A believer must progressively be FILLED with the holy Spirit by yielding to the Word of God so that he can become worthy to enter into the coming glorious Kingdom of Christ. A believer should not look for a POURING of the Holy Spirit associated with signs, wonders and miracles which cannot exist today. The real POURING OUT of the Spirit will occur only in the mist of Israel when our Lord regathers and restores them to their land, on His glorious return. You will find a detailed discussion of these truths with all the Bible References in an article on my website noted below. 6 | What is the meaning of Alleluia | 1 Sam 28:7 | Nicholson | 42710
The word "Alleluia" occurs many times in the Psalms and it has been translated "Praise the LORD" In the New Testament this word occurs only in the 19th chapter of the Book of Revelation. Here it occurs four times, and it occurs when God's original purpose for creating man (to reign with Him) was fulfilled. |

9 | How old is the earth scripturally? | Gen 1:1 | Nicholson | 18920
DARWINISM? We do not know much about Darwinism. They say that there was one Darwin. He "found out" that many millions of years ago a monkey by chance became a man and from that man the human race came into existence. After that neither any monkey got the chance to become a man nor any man got the chance to become a monkey. The Word of God simply mentions about sun, moon and the stars. But all that is revealed is about man in relation to the Earth only. Man was created in Gen.1: 26 – 28, to fill the earth, subdue the earth and have dominion over the earth. The whole Bible is about how this was ultimately achieved in Rev.20: 1-6. WATERS brought about the death of all flesh in the days of Noah. Also in baptism when we go down into the water we signify our identification with the death and burial of our dear Lord Jesus Christ and we testify that our old man is dead and buried. Before the 6days in Gen.1 we see that the Spirit of God fluttered over the waters, but after the 6days God RESTED for a day. When we study particular words or sentences, we may not understand their full meaning. We have to see the context and also compare with other sections of the whole Scriptures. (1Cor.2) Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God; Who also has made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter kills, but the spirit gives life. (2Cor.3: 5,6) |

10 | When was "In the Beginning" | Gen 1:1 | Nicholson | 17726
The heavens and the earth of Gen.1:1, refer to the whole universe created by God, out of nothing, in the distant past. Man cannot comprehend the universe which includes the earth and while it was created by God it could never have been in the ruined condition seen in Gen.1:2. The universe consists of countless number galaxies. Our earth is in one such galaxy. The sun is one of the 20,000 crores of stars which are in our galaxy. The nearest star is about 4 ½ light years away from the earth. (One light year is equal to the distance traveled by light in one year whereas the speed of light is 3,00,000 kms per second) So man can never know or understand anything about even the nearest star. So beyond Gen.1: 1 God is speaking only about the earth. In is clear that an unrevealed length of time has elapsed between Gen.1: 1 and Gen.1: 2. This period of time may be a number of ages.
11 | Than i may know Him | Gen 1:1 | Nicholson | 17725
God has revealed through His word, only those things which can be understood by us now. The heavens and the earth were created many ages before the creation of man. But God has revealed only those things which happened after (or in relation to) the creation of man around 6000BC. What happened before that is not only beyond our comprehension but also not essential for you and me at present. Whatever is revealed to us is for us to OBEY. (Deut.29:29) |

12 | Earth was without form, and void. | Gen 1:1 | Nicholson | 17724
In Gen. 1: 2 the second verse, we see clearly that the earth existing in a ruined condition. The word "WAS" in this verse is translated from the Hebrew word “hayah” (Strong’s 01961). This can be translated in one of the following forms - was, come to pass, came, has been, were happened, become. Please note the following inferences 1) The EARTH ALONE is mentioned from this verse onwards. 2) God did not start His creative activity from such a ruined condition. The word CREATED, in the first verse means creation OUT OF NOTHING. So it is clear that an unrevealed length of time has elapsed between Gen.1: 1 and Gen.1: 2. This period of time may be a number of ages. 3) In this verse we see that the earth was (became) in a ruined condition, without form, void, in darkness and filled with waters (death). |

13 | How old is the earth scripturally? | Gen 1:1 | Nicholson | 17723
From Gen. 1: 1 the very first verse of the Word of God, we can understand that God created all things out of nothing----------------------Heb.11: 3 He created all things by His word--------------------------Psa.33: 6-9 He created all things in perfect order and beauty---------Rev.4: 11; Isa.45: 18. In this verse, the heavens and the earth refer to the whole universe created by God, out of nothing, in the distant past. Man simply cannot comprehend the size of the whole universe. The universe consists of countless number galaxies. Our earth is in one such galaxy. It is estimated that there are two hundred billion stars within our own galaxy. The sun is one of those stars, which are in our galaxy. The next nearest star is about 4 ½ light years away from the earth. (One light year is equal to the distance traveled by light in one year whereas the speed of light is 3,00,000kms per second) So man can never know or understand anything about even the nearest star. So beyond Gen.1: 1 God is revealing to man only about the earth. In Gen. 1: 2 the second verse, we see clearly that the earth existing in a ruined condition. The word WAS in this verse is translated from the Hebrew word “hayah” (Strong’s 01961). 18 | How was Samuel called from the grave? | 1 Sam 28:7 | Nicholson | 8247
Alleluia, for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth. (Rev.19: 6) The LORD hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all. Psa.103:19 But God also has certain principles laid down in His government of His whole creation. He normally does not interfere with the “way of all the earth,” (Josh.23: 14, 1Kings 2: 2)except in very rare cases due to the fervent prayers of His people. The system of God’s government is revealed to a little extent in verses Job 1: 6, 2: 1, Dan.10: 13,20, etc. I have also given some details about this in my original note on this topic. How can a witch bring out a soul from the Hades? That too, it was the soul of one of the greatest prophet of God. Is it possible for any such witch to do the same thing today? These are the most important questions raised in our mind when we read this passage. In my original note above I have focused on these issues without being biased by the widely prevalent orthodox and traditional views. |
