1 | WHY DO WE NEED TO EVANGALIZE? | Acts 1:8 | Jh2 | 100426
There is much good theology in this, and I aproove of much of it. There is a problem though. If you turn to 1 Ti 2:3-4 it describes God as he whom wants all men to be saved. Therefore it is kind of hard to say that he chooses some, and closes the door for some. I am not saying that this is not a dificult question, because it is. It has been at the churchs attention for ages, and we have never been able to answer it to the full. Predestination and gods understanding of the future is as far as I can see beyond the capibility of my mind. That does not mean that we should stop wondering, on the countreary...keep searching for that thruth! Blessings Jh2 |

2 | SOUL AND SPIRIT | James 2:26 | Jh2 | 48401
I have by no means an answe to your question, but I think it would be fruitfull to corespond on the subject.Me and my father, wich is a theologian have been discussing the subject latly, and have found various scriptures that cover the subject spirit (human spirit). To specify spirit, I will say taht I do not speak about the Holy Spirit, nor spesific spirits, like the spirit of poverty or the spirit of adaultery etc etc. Teh human spirit is in question quite a number of times thrughout both the old and the new testament. I will point to several of theese scriptures as I go on. 1. tess 5:23 is the only place that the bible states all thre parts of the human in the same passage. This is enough to state that soul and spirit is two different things. To different parts of the human beeing. This is an importat distinction to make from the start. If you go to theological books you will find that the spirit part of the human beeing has been neglected to a great extent. So what is the function of the spirit? We know that the soul and the body operates in two differen sferes. They are different in every aspect. You can not use the body to feel sorrow, and you can not pick up deck of cards with your soul. Still they are somewath conected. They interact through som kind of transmission og information. So what does this do for our mind: could it be that th spirit is a third dimention in the human beeing. A dimention that is totaly different from the sfere of the body and the soul. And if so, what will this sfere contain? Lets take a look at some of the passages that speaks about the spirit. ex 35:21 says that his spirit urged him.. in other words, his spirit had an influence on him. (see also Job 32:18) Further on we can see that it is posible to controle ones spirit (1. cor 14:32), So the human spirit has a interaction with the soul (the will fo the man). In romans 12:11 Paul urges us to be fervent in spirit. This inplicaes that we must be able to influence our spirit in some way or another. Proverbs 20:27 clames that our spirit is the lamp with wich the Lord serches all the innermost parts of our being. So in some way there must be a dept of our personality or consious there. Psalm 77:6 says "And my spirit ponders". Furthermore in the psalms (142 - 143) it is refered to the spirit as somthing that the author can recognize the state of. He can say something about wich state his spirit is in. I think this is one of the major things we are hunting fore. To be able to define "our own spiritual state". The spirit is also connected to wisdom and knowledge. See Dan 5:12 and Job 20:3; 32:8. This is unfinished thoughts... But it is a start for further discussion. Please view it for what it is. 3 | Valid 'gifts?' | Eph 4:11 | Jh2 | 37654
Valid, no void! I belive we find the answer to the question in the following text. If you turn to verse 13 it reads: "until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, atteining the whole messure of the fullness of Christ." I can not see that the goal has been obtaind yet, and therefore I can not se that the gifts should be void. And we do see them in action around the world. If there is a biblical explanation that states that they are no longer to be used I would very much like to see it. In brotherhood Jh2 |

4 | Faith working through love | Gal 5:6 | Jh2 | 37646
I belive this is a subjekt containing at least two essential emphasis. The first is faith, and the second is love. If we take our startingpoint in James 2:14-26 we will find that it states that deeds are essential for our salvation. It is a radical passage on living a life in accord with the word of God. Still it hammers down in Ephesians 2:8 that we can not add anything to our faith. Deeds will make no difference. What should we than act upon? No doubt, do the good works, for it is good! But what is the connection? Faith is the essential word here. Faith meens trust. And to trust in God meens so much moore than to know that He exists. It is once again two major aspects. Firstly it is to trust Him for your eternal life and your salvation, secondly to trust Him to lead your life in the right way - letting Him be the master. This leaves Him Lord and Saviour. This summes up the faith part. Faith leads to action because He has the right to lead your life, and that causes action. Secondly I mentiond love (Joh 14:21). We do not want to grieve our loved ones. We will sacrefice a great deal to keep them happy. The love for God should trigger the same reaction. If we love God our will will be in accordence with His. Our love to Him will also trigger love to our fellow man, because that is just the way God works. And love for our neighbor will lead to good deeds. I hope this will trigger both some thoughts and resolve some theological difficulties. With blessings, Jh2 |
