Subject: Faith working through love |
Bible Note: I belive this is a subjekt containing at least two essential emphasis. The first is faith, and the second is love. If we take our startingpoint in James 2:14-26 we will find that it states that deeds are essential for our salvation. It is a radical passage on living a life in accord with the word of God. Still it hammers down in Ephesians 2:8 that we can not add anything to our faith. Deeds will make no difference. What should we than act upon? No doubt, do the good works, for it is good! But what is the connection? Faith is the essential word here. Faith meens trust. And to trust in God meens so much moore than to know that He exists. It is once again two major aspects. Firstly it is to trust Him for your eternal life and your salvation, secondly to trust Him to lead your life in the right way - letting Him be the master. This leaves Him Lord and Saviour. This summes up the faith part. Faith leads to action because He has the right to lead your life, and that causes action. Secondly I mentiond love (Joh 14:21). We do not want to grieve our loved ones. We will sacrefice a great deal to keep them happy. The love for God should trigger the same reaction. If we love God our will will be in accordence with His. Our love to Him will also trigger love to our fellow man, because that is just the way God works. And love for our neighbor will lead to good deeds. I hope this will trigger both some thoughts and resolve some theological difficulties. With blessings, Jh2 |
