2 | What is the purpose behind "offerings"? | Not Specified | IBLONG2GOD | 127100
In the OT, the Isrealites paid tithe, firstfruit, and gave offerings. Firstfruit was to God out of reverence, tithe was the inheritance of the Levites, and the five offerings each had their own significance. If Malachai sums up the work of the tithe, then what specifically is the work of offerings under the new covenant?

5 | Why ask Why? Why ask Where? | Bible general Archive 2 | IBLONG2GOD | 126292
kalos, It is just a misunderstanding. The note I posted was for Theo-Minor. I wasn't familiar with the threads and all. May the Lord bless you for exercising patience, because I am aware that this could get a little frustrating. |

6 | Why ask Why? Why ask Where? | Bible general Archive 2 | IBLONG2GOD | 126261
Theo-Minor, It was not my intention to be critical in the negative sense of the word. I apologize if I offended you. I'm truly sorry. I'm new to this forum and don't know the ins and outs, yet. If I had read the entire thread, I'm sure I would have gathered what this post was about. Please understand that it was done out of ignorance and I will try to be more thorough in reading the entire thread before I respond. My only intention was to correct what I believed to be wrong. I hope you understand. I do have some insight to the spirit of the law, but I'm open and humble enough to know that I don't have absolute knowledge of it. I'm willing to hear what you have to say about it, if you desire to explain your understanding of it. |

7 | Will the real Christians please stand up | James 5:16 | IBLONG2GOD | 126257
I understand that this verse is used in the context of judging within the body of Christ. However, i was under the impression that this is a "principle" that could be used in the context of prayer also. Good looking out!
8 | Will the real Christians please stand up | Not Specified | IBLONG2GOD | 126231
Think about this: If you were to stand in the pulpit and ask the congregation, "By show of hands, how many of you believe in the effectiveness of prayer?" You would think that a very great majority would raise their hands in enthusiasm, right? Right! I think the same way, but I get discouraged at the number that shows up for prayer service; and that in relation to the number that comes to Sunday morning services...we have 2. I understand the scripture about where 2 or 3 are gathered... This is not about that. This is about a people living with conviction. I used prayer as just one example, but take your pick. It could be bible study or any of the disciplines. If this describes you, discipline yourselves! Draw nigh to God and He will draw nigh unto you! Stop waiting on God to act, because God is waiting for you to step out in faith. Fight the good fight of faith! |

10 | What does God say on birth control? | Gen 1:28 | IBLONG2GOD | 126230
My heart goes out to you in your struggle to know what God's will is concerning your present situation. In Old Testament days, it was considered a curse to be barren. Matter of fact, the more children one bears, the more blessed women considered themselves to be. Of all the curses I've found of the end times, over-population wasn't one of them. I'm not trying to persuade you either way, but as God is able to open the womb, He is able to close it. If you really don't want to have more children, the answer could be just a prayer away. Pardon my grammatical errors.

The law says, "Do this and you will be blessed" Deuteronomy 27:1, 28:1-13. We are not saved by keeping the law - that is legalism. Unless our righteousness exceeds that of the Pharisees we will in no way enter heaven..Matthew 5:20. The Pharisees are well known for keeping the "letter" of the law, but not the "spirit" of the law. The letter killeth, but the spirit maketh alive..2 Corinthians 3:6.
12 | WHAT DOES HYSSOP MEAN IN PSALMS 51:7? | Acts 17:11 | IBLONG2GOD | 126227
Are you familiar with the adage, "Give a man a fish and you'll feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you'll feed him for a life-time?" Bible help books are worthwhile investments: commentaries, concordances, bible dictionaries and encyclopedias, etc. It is good to seek counsel on scripture, but know that Paul commended the Bereans for searching the script for themselves to find out if what was being preached was true.
13 | What does God say on blocking life? :) | Jer 1:5 | IBLONG2GOD | 126223
As is man's understanding on marriage, so too is man's understanding on conception. Man defines marriage with a marriage certificate. God defines marriage with consumation. Man defines conception of life at some point in the womb. God says he knew us BEFORE He formed us in the belly. At any point in the reproductive process, if man invades, it is considered "the blocking of continuing." Perhaps to the extent found in Genesis 38:9-10.
