1 | different versions of Daniel 9:25 | Dan 9:26 | Dhaniei Zewditu | 221482
Jan, You wrote, "The motivation for this note was that the prophecy is then "justly allowed to be one of the noblest…in the Old Testament, as it is one of the strongest proofs against the Jews, in favour of Christianity..." I would like to know strongest proof of what? If it has anything to do with the theory (that some love) that God has turned His back on His people, maybe they should consult the passage in Jer. 33:20-26. If that is not what is being spoken of, then I ask again, strongest proof of what against the Jews and of what in favor of christianity? Thank you :o) Dhaniei |

2 | do you need to be baptized to go to heav | NT general | Dhaniei Zewditu | 221402
Dear Luke 23:39-43 A man who had lived badly most of his life trusted in the Savior during the very moments he was dying for his crimes. He did not receive baptism, yet he did receive the promise that he would be with the Savior. John 3:16 says if you trust in the Savior you will have eternal life. Baptism is simply an act of obedince. An outward sign to yourself and anyone else who may be interested that something unique and special has happened to you - that you are no longer who and what you once were, you are a changed person. It is a very good thing to be baptized, but it is not necessary to go to heaven. Trusting the word of God and the finished work of His Son is what is absolutely necessary. Shalom and blessings in Messiah Dhaniei |

3 | Eye for an Eye | Ex 21:24 | Dhaniei Zewditu | 221266
Dear mamametal, God is very explicit about what is and what isn't a capital crime. This particular verse is not necessarily talking about literally taking a life for a life - it would depend on the circumstances of the cause of the death. If one is to take that verse completely literally, then one would also have to take the others literally. Except in one particular instance, God has NEVER advocated the maiming of another in retribution. Just imagine 2 men who have been in a brawl and Abe loses a tooth. For retribution Abe now gets to pound Joe in the face till the very same tooth of his gets knocked out. What if it's a different tooth, one more needful, or not as important? What if another tooth gets loosened? Can Joe now punch Abe to loosen his tooth also? See how ridiculous that would be? Those verses simply mean, have the recompence or punishment meet the crime without partiality. |

Dear watchman, It's not "Jews" law. It has always been God's laws, His standard. |

5 | why was Jesus born | Bible general Archive 4 | Dhaniei Zewditu | 221236
Dear watchman, Matt. 1:21 Luke 1:31; 2:27-32 and 36-38. What God the Father choose to call His Son should give us a strong indication of His role in live - His Hebrew name is Yeshua (or Y'shua) and that word means "salvation". |

6 | Pierced Jesus side | Bible general Archive 4 | Dhaniei Zewditu | 221226
Dear watchman I see a correlation in Num. 20 regarding the rites of purification. Blood and living (running) water were required. There needed to be living water ALONG with the blood for the Saviro to fully cleanse us of our sin. It was noted in the gospel as miraculous because, as you stated, He had already died, it shouldn't have happened. |

7 | Will the AntiChrist speek 666 languages | Revelation | Dhaniei Zewditu | 220990
Dear Azure, Rev. 13:16-17 "...that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name..." Though the "number" or "name" may not be visibly clear to just anyone on the street, it has to be some kind of actual mark or chip that is visible via electronics or special lighting, etc. Otherwise, those without the mark or name could continue to do business as before... (Already the medical profession has the know-how to place on a teeny chip all of one's medical history that can be easily and uninvasibly inserted under the patient's skin. Scary!!!) Dhaniei |

8 | Five fingers relation with the Church | Bible general Archive 4 | Dhaniei Zewditu | 220351
Makarios, I think the person may be referring to the WOF version of the hand. It's not scriptural, but here it goes: Thumb represents Apostle because it covers the whole hand, and is distinctly NOT a finger but can stand in any of the other four "offices" quite admirably. Pointing Finger represents the Prophet (which is the office of Hinn, Copeland, Hagen, etc, according to themselves) because they point the people to God, to repentance, to turn away from sin, etc. Middle Finger represents the Evangelist because it stands the tallest, is easiest seen and recognized, is the "glue" keeping the other four digits in unity. The Ring Finger represents the Pastor because it is the finger symbolizing the "marriage" of the church to God and to the five-fold ministry. Little Finger represents the teacher, small but vital to the health of the whole hand, without it the hand may live on but it will be malnourished and deformed. :o) Dhaniei |

Doc, Lockman itself sends one to one of 3 different sellers. I noted CDB (one of the three) from experience, usually the lowest price, quick shipping, and it lets you take a look at the inside of most bibles. Sorry for misunderstanding Dhaniei |

Shalom Wejlly, I'm guessing that you are questioning the word "divers'? That is simply an early English word (used in KJV) meaning diverse, different, etc. If it is some other type question that you have, could you please rephrase? Dhaniei |

13 | Prayer request | Not Specified | Dhaniei Zewditu | 220091
Good evening all, I realize that this is a study forum, but I would like to get a prayer line going for a dear friend, his name is Tim M. He has just been diagnosed with cancer of the prostate: on the right his prostate a Gleason 9 (advanced, very agressive). on the right side a Gleason 6 (mid stage), as well as small cell cancer (early on-set, very agressive) of the prostate; one kidney has already failed. He is married, a grandfather, and still has adolescents at home. His family would appreciate any prayers you might offer on his behalf. Thank you Dhaniei |

16 | What is origin of grace before meal? | Bible general Archive 4 | Dhaniei Zewditu | 220085
Doc, Thank you for the further info, but isn't blessing food a somewhat superstitious thing to do? Thank God for His goodness, yes; request blessings on those at table with you, yes; bless the food? for what reason? Why does that which God considers to be food and good for nourishment need to be blessed? I can see in the feeding of the multitudes that Messiah blessed the food, but I'd always seen that as possibly being for a miraculous increase over what would have been normally possible with what was available. That wouldn't be necessary at an ordinary dinner table... Dhaniei |

17 | What is origin of grace before meal? | Bible general Archive 4 | Dhaniei Zewditu | 220074
Good evening Niaboc, According to Dt. 8:10 the Jews generally bless God after a meal. I believe the tradition of the blessing before the meal would come from Messiah's blessing of the loaves and fishes as seen in the NT. By "blessing" I'm speaking of thanking God for the food, the family, friends, etc at the table. Is that what you mean by "grace?" Dhaniei |

18 | how can i read the bible | Bible general Archive 4 | Dhaniei Zewditu | 220065
Good morning Constantine, The very first way to approach reading of the Bible is prayerfully. The second, and just as important way is expectantly. Just as you approach the breakfast or dinner table, quite hungry, you EXPECT to be nourished and satisfied to the fullest with the best foods available. You won't get better food than God's Word. Always remain in awe, wonderment, amazement, humility and prayerful as you digest His Word and you'll never leave His table unfulfilled. Dhaniei |

Morning Doc, I have just finished listening to the link you directed me to. It was informative, but I failed to see (or hear, as it were) where the terms and their useages I questioned were answered? Did I miss something? If so, where, please? (The only time I can give uninterrupted attention to anything is in the middle of the night, but I'm usually quite tired....) :o) Dhaniei |
