1 | Is suicide a sin, will you go to hell? | Bible general Archive 1 | JimD | 71312
Angleface, please note all the references given by inmyheart. It is right on. One truly born again of the Spirit of God will be with God in heaven regardless of their sin. Their salvation if of God and not of themselves (John 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, John 1:13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.) There is a difference in a person who has head knowledge and perhaps even goes to church and a truly born-again Christian. I'm reminded or the Great Blundee who lived in the 1850s who stretched a cable across Niagra Falls and walked across. As the crowds began to dwindle he and his manager decided they needed to do more to draw crowds. He practiced rolling a wheel-barrow across the cable and planned for the unveiling of his new improved act. When the day finally came he walked out on the rope and pricked the interest of the crowd. His manager asked who thought the Great Blundee could wheel someone across the cable in a wheel-barrow. The crowd went crazy yelling Yes, Yes. The manager then said he needed only one thing - a volunteer. There was a dead silence and all that could be heard was the wind and roar of the falls. The manager stepped forward and got into the wheel-barrow and Blundee wheeled him across. This little story illustrates an important difference. The crowd believed with their head that Blundee could accomplish the feat. His manager knew with all his heart that he could. The point is have you totally surrendered your life to Jesus Christ, believing He is who He said He was - God in a human body coming to die for our sins. |

McAllister 702 please consider the following: 2 Tim 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth. "accurately handling the word of truth" could be translated "cutting it straight". I encourage you to consider the following scripture and notes. A study of Luke 16:19-31, the story of Lazerus and the rich man it is clear that before the resurrection of Jesus there were two compartments in Sheol. One is referred to as Abraham's bosom, where Lazerus had his abode and the other was a place of torment, where the rich man had his abode. Let me quote from a world renown Bible scholar, C.I. Scoffield. "Hades before the ascension of Christ. The passages in which the word(Hades)is occurs make it clear that hades was formaerly in two divisions, the abodes respectively of the saved and of the lost. The former was called "paradise" and "Abraham's bosom." Both designations were Talmudic, but adopted by Christ in Luke 16:22; 23:43. The blessed dead were with Abraham, they were consciouse and were "comforted" (Luke 16:25). The believing malefactor was to be, that day, with Christ in "paradise." The lost were seperated from the saved by a "great gulf fixed" (Luke 16:26). Hades since the ascension of Christ. Sa far as the unsaved dead are concerned, no change of their place of condition is revealed in Scripture. At the judgment of the great white throne, hades will give them up, they will be judged, and will pass into the lake of fire (Rev. 20:13, 14) But a change has taken place which affects papadise. Paul was "caught up to the third heaven . . . into paradise" (2 Cor. 12:1-4). Paradixe, therefore, is now in the immediate presence of God. It is believed tht Ephe. 4:8-10 indicateds the time of the change. "When he ascended up on high he led a multitude of captives." It is immediately added that He had previously "descended first into the lower parts of the earth," i.i. the paradise divesion of Hades. During the present church-age the saved who died are "absent from the body and at home with the Lord." The wicked dead in hades, and the fighteous dead "at home with the Lord," alike await the resurrection." If you study 1 Cor. 15:52-55 along with Revelation 20:4-6 you see the first resurrection which is for the saved. Rev. 20:11-15 you see the second resurrection of the dead (lost) who ultimately are cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. Your reference to Acts 24;15 only tells us that both the just and the unjust will be resurrected. It does not mention as you put it "the unrighteous who died in ingorance of the truth." Ignorance is never excused. Jesus said He was the way the truth and the life, no man comes to the Father but by me. Receiving Christ is the only way to eternal life. That's the point of the whole New Testament. In Christ, Jim D. |

3 | Can one who commits suicide be saved? | Ex 20:13 | JimD | 71075
I couldn't disagree more. IF a person has been born again is sealed until the day of redemption (when they get a new body). Eph 1:13 In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation--having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, Eph 1:14 who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God's own possession, to the praise of His glory. Look at these verses: John 6:37-40 "All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out. For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. This is the will of Him who sent Me, that of all that He has given Me I lose nothing, but raise it up on the last day. For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day." Also, the following: John 10:27 "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. I and the Father are one." For more on sealing of the Holy Spirit see Ephesians 4:30 and IICor.1:22. There are many times that we sin and are not even aware of it. Our knowledge of sin is based on our knowledge of scripture. If a person is a new believer they may not be aware of their sins. Over time the Holy Spirit will reveal these areas by conviction (usually by using Biblical truth). In the meantime Rom 8:26-27 "In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God." Notice in these verses that it is the Spirit who is interceding. And "He who searches the hearts" (Our Heavenly Father) "knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God." Notice also that the Spirit's intercession is with "groanings too deep for words". I don't believe this is referring to us praying is tongues, but intercession of the Holy Spirit through His oneness with the Father. The Father knows what the mind of the Spirit is so He doesn't have to verbalize this intercession. I hope some of this makes sense to you. I feel like I've been rambling. Regards, Jim D. |

4 | Is Jesus Gods son? | Heb 1:5 | JimD | 71066
Pastor Glenn, Notice the following references. There a many such references to life being in the blood. Genesis 9:4“But you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood. Leviticus17:11‘For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul. Deut.12:23“Only be sure that you do not eat the blood, for the blood is the life; you may not eat the life with the meat. The Holy Bible, New King James Version, (Nashville, Tennessee: Thomas Nelson, Inc.) 1982. There is something sacrad about blood to the Lord. Also, it is interesting that the child gets its blood type from the father. I believe the sin nature is passed from the father to the child. That would explain why Jesus could not have a human father. Numerous references in the Bible refer to us being born with this fallen nature. Yet, Jesus was born as the Lamb of God without spot or blemish. His blood was from His Father. I don't have any idea how this happened, but surely is was an easy task for the creator of the universe. 5 | ?Fellowship? | Lev 18:22 | JimD | 71035
Awesome attitude. If you truly fall in love with Jesus, He will sustain you. Surround yourself with people that love the Lord. If you're not already in a good Bible based church find one and get involved. We need the Holy Spirit and the Bible to mature, but we also need each other. Even Jesus, the God Man, needed other people. We often see in the Bible that Jesus went away from the masses, but He most often took those most intimate with Him. The scene at the Garden of Gethsemmine, Jesus most difficult time on earth, He took the disciples with Him to be with Him and watch for Him. When they feel asleep you can sense in the words of the Lord His need for their fellowship. Even if you don't fall again into this type sin there are chances that you will probably fail in some other area. We all do from time to time. Satan will try to condemn you and make you condemn yourself. Don't fall for that. 1John 1:9 says that if we confess our sin, He is faithful and just to cleanse us from that sin. Confession is simply agreeing with God that what you have done is sin, thanking Him for paying for that sin and asking God to help you not to fall into that again. Remember, as a believer Jesus paid for all our sin past, present and future. God would not allow Jesus to pay for your sin, then require you to again pay for that sin by sending you to Hell. He may chastise us for our sin (Hebrews 12) but he will never condemn you. |

6 | Adam and Eve the first people created? | Luke 17:1 | JimD | 70878
The Bible gives a good explanation for the missing information. Notice John 21:25. "And there are also many other things which Jesus did, which if they *were written in detail, I suppose that even the world itself *would not contain the books that *would be written." The gospel accounts of Jesus give accounts of Jesus life for us to examine who He is. The gospel of Matthew looks at Jesus as King. That's why we see the geneology proving the kingly line. Mark depicts Jesus as the lowly servant. Luke, being a physician, was chosen to depict Jesus as man. John depicts Jesus as God, ie., In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God (John 1:1-2) and later in vs 14 "The Word became flesh and dwelt among us." As some others have written, the Bible has given us enough information to allow us to make a decision to receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. You may wonder why God would have to come to earth. I'm glad you asked. God created man and put him in a perfect environment, The Garden of Eden. He gave Adam all that he would need to live forever and to have a relationship with God. The only stipulation made to Adam was that he could partake of anything in the garden except one tree. Adam and Eve made their first mistake in hanging out there at that tree. They were already on shakey ground. Sin works the same way today. Anyway, Adam partook of the forbidden fruit. Romans 5:12 in the New Testament says," Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned--. God had told Adam that in the day he eat of that fruit he would surely die. That came true. He died spiritually immediately and began to die physically growing older from that point on. This spiritual death was a seperation from God. This is the insurmountable problem that the human race is faced with. We are dead spiritually. There is a holy God on one side of the chasm and man on the other. Between the two is this barrior created by sin. We are born in this condition. The sinners Adam and Eve begat other sinners their children. The delimma for man is that God cannot remain holy and receive sinners. God planned for this in eternity past in His plan of redemption. God has declared the wages of sin is death (see Romans 6:23). This is that seperation from God I spoke of earlier. To satisfy God's holiness, a sinner must be seperated from God eternally. However, God's plan to redeem a people for Himself, included God the Son coming into the earth (no human father) as perfect man without sin. He lived a sinless life and died on a Roman cross. He became the Lamb of God slain to pay for the sins of those who would receive the gift. The whole Old Testament sacrificial system was a foreshadowing or picture of what Jesus would do on the cross. What this all means to the person who receives Christ as Savior is that God takes our sin and places it on Jesus and takes His righteousness and gives it to us who believe. By have Jesus' death substitute for me, I stand righteous before this Holy God and He can receive me because my sin is paid for. If anyone will seriously and openly consider Jesus and His life you have to conclude that He truly was who he said he was. |
