1 Why did it take the wise men so long... NT general Archive 1 hotrod_ragtop 27766
Didn't they come from Persia which was a long distance away. They could only travel at night when the star was visible to them. They had a caravan (not a mini-van :-)) which travels slowly. It doesn't say how many wise men there were ... we always think three because there were three gifts. The shepherds came quickly because they were already in Bethlehem tending their sheep on the hillside. Also, Mary and Joseph weren't in the stable any more by the time the kings arrived (2 years is a long time to stay in the barn if you're not livestock.)
2 Day of Purification? NT general Archive 1 hotrod_ragtop 27760
Scripture reference? I didn't find it.
3 Sons of God cannot be angels in Gen 6:4 Gen 6:4 hotrod_ragtop 27753
OK ... how do you explain demons and demonic possession which was addressed by Jesus when He practiced casting them out of people? 1/3rd of the angels fell with satan, and, because satan is not God, he cannot be everyplace all the time, so he has a lot of help ... demons ... fallen angels. Yes, our flesh is a great enemy of ours, but the Bible specifically addresses demonic activity in the world well into and throughout the New Testament (Ephesions 6:11-12 - Put on the whole armour of God, thaat ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places). And we see from scripture angels appeared to many in fleshly form: Abraham, Lot (the townspeople saw the angels as human and wanted to have homosexual relations with them.) And the Matthew 22:30 reference to angels not being given in marriage, let's back up a little to 28 and 29 and the previous conversation. The Saducees were trying to trick Jesus by asking if a woman married several times, who would be her husband in heaven? The scripture actually says,"Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God. For in the resurrection they (humans) neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven." Key here is angels in heaven, the Niphilim were not desendents of angels in heaven. Demons are nasty dudes and have great power (Ephesians 6) and I'm not convinced yet that Genesis 6:2-6 are the Cain/Seth ancestors. You did a great job with a lot of great references. Keep digging and trying to change my mind. God bless!
4 Who were the son's of God in Job? Gen 6:4 hotrod_ragtop 27747
Good sloothing! Also, remember the scripture about entertaining angels unaware? Angels can walk among us and we have no idea that they are not just another person (Hebrews 13:2). Angels visited Abraham and took Lot out of Sodom, the people of the city thought they were just a couple of new guys in town and wanted to have homosexual relations with them. The sons of God are angels, in Genesis 6 they are the fallen ones. Try to get facts from the scripture and don't add or subtract from it and don't believe what someone tells you without checking the Word. It does take some digging sometimes ... but happy Bible studying!
5 Who are the sons and daughters? Gen 6:4 hotrod_ragtop 27745
The sons of God (not to be confused with The Son of God who is Jesus)usually refer to angels, in this case they are the fallen angels. The daughters are the descendents of Adam and Eve as all human beings are.
6 Genesis 6 the "fallen ones" Gen 6:4 hotrod_ragtop 27744
Genesis 6:2-6, 2Peter 2:4,5 - angels are sometimes referred to as sons of God in scripture and, yes, 6:2-6 refers to the fallen angels who had children with the human women creating a race of giants. I've heard it suggested that Goliath may have been one of these, remember he was 9' 4" tall - a pretty big guy - and mean (1Samuel 17). As far a souless, I find that scripture says animals have no souls which keeps them from heaven. Since angels are in heaven and hell because they have a choice, just as we do, do they not also have souls? Although, once they make their choice to turn away from God, there is no turning back for them. Jesus died for us, not them (John 3:16). Thus, our redemption comes from Him. They have none. Lucky us. Thank you God.
