Qwerty123, Hello, that scripture is not a picture of masturbation. To put it cleanly, it's a picture of a man trying not to impregnate a woman. Cheri |

184 | do i need to tithe in cash | Bible general Archive 1 | skccab | 200362
Shalom Irene, I believe the actual text where 10percent is first used is from Gen. 14:18-20. The tithe was originally given in livestock and harvestings, and it wasn't just "10 percent" once - there were actually 3 different tithes to be given/put aside (depending on the tithe). One of the tithes (of firstlings belonging to the Lord) is re-iterated at the end of Lev. 27:26-34. I've looked for the references but can't find them right now; but the 2nd tithe seems to be of the entire flock or harvest (for the upkeep of the Temple and support of the Levites), and the 3rd tithe was to be put back in one's own storehouse for the poor. (Can anyone help with these two? And if I'm wrong, please let me know.) Our God is a very caring God!! Cheri |

191 | Where does Cain's wife come from? | OT general | skccab | 195689
beguile in Hebrew, nasha, can mean to "morally" seduce, but also to lead astray or to mentally delude. The latter two meanings fall into the context of the conversation that took place between the serpent and Eve, and the last meaning fits perfectly. Be careful when using only one interpretation when there are more - you'll find yourself in much trouble trying to get out of the mire!
192 | Where does Cain's wife come from? | OT general | skccab | 195693
And an Amen! to Azure. Nightmare, the line of Cain was destroyed in the Flood. Biblical genealogies are given to prove the heritage of the Promised One. The line of Adam to Seth goes to the line of Noah and his sons, who alone began the line that would lead to Messiah. That is what all the genealogies are presented for. Before you post again, I would suggest you yourself re-read Genesis, and get your facts straight, dear. |

194 | Covenant of Salt | OT general | skccab | 195815
Thanks Doc, I thought maybe my Bible was just lacking some references. Glad to know that isn't it. It sounds like Num. 18:19 is speaking of a specific covenant that was made using salt and I was trying to find what the covenant is. I guess that's one of the Deut. 29:29 things :-). Shalom Cheri |
||||||
195 | Covenant of Salt | OT general | skccab | 195843
Thank you so much John, That was very interesting. It explains much - and reveals that it wasn't a single particular covenant of salt. I had put the two statements together in error. I appreciate the help!! Cheri |

196 | Outside the camp, there's a place clean? | OT general | skccab | 202028
Shalom Brad, Yes, you did make sense. As I remarked in my question, I asked quickly before really considering for myself. During the midnight hours I kind of came up with the same reasoning you suggested :-) The whole red heifer statute is a bit hard to figure out!! Thanks for the help, and the confirmation. Much appreciated. Cheri |

197 | Outside the camp, there's a place clean? | OT general | skccab | 202031
Shalom John, Like I told Brother Brad, you guys are right, I'm sure. For some reason, as I read that verse I had gotten it in my head that outside the camp was unclean, and therefore, the problem! But you guys must be correct in that not ALL of the area was unclean. I just hadn't thought it all through. (Sometimes I ask too quickly!) Cheri (P.S. Let me know when you're ready to replace that silly fun song in your head, dear brother. I have lots of them to share :-) ) |

199 | Outside the camp, there's a place clean? | OT general | skccab | 202183
Thank you, SON, For some obscure reason I had gotten it (wrongly) into my head that the area outside the camp was considered unclean. In fact, it was when I got to the place about the red heifer that that idea became troublesome. I enjoyed reading the passages that you supplied. Thank you very much for your efforts, they are much appreciated. :-) Shalom Cheri |
