161 | Why the NKJV over the NASB ? | Bible general Archive 3 | skccab | 190117
God's morning to you Hank, I'm right with you. I love the KJV, it just has such power in the way it reads. I have just decided to trust all the SBF's opinions about the NASB and put alot of hard earned money into one. I'm praying I won't be disappointed, but I keep going back to my KJV! I just can't shelf it. Blessings Cheri |

Thanks Hank, I had already gotten it when I wrote the note before. But I'm not disappointed, it's good. Still can't put the old KJV aside though :-). His Word is always good. cheri |

Hank, You're funny, you make me laugh. I'm glad to hear your Books are so well behaved. My major problem is that I take mine with me EVERYWHERE, and my purse is only so big :-). My new NASB is bigger than KJV and has sneaked out of my purse several times now (not nearly as well-behaved as yours!). Love ya Hank! Cheri |

164 | Recognize loved ones in heaven | Bible general Archive 3 | skccab | 190842
Yes, Thank you Doc for that note. You always hear of your loved ones in heaven praying for you, but I had always had one problem with that. And that was if our loved ones could see us from heaven then that might cause pain and the Bible tells us there should no longer be pain or tears. But your note help clear that problem right up! Thank you again. cheri |

166 | Did He complete the Old Testament? | Bible general Archive 3 | skccab | 192323
Jesusman, What do we do with the terms "forever," "continual," "perpetual" when God designated the feasts and offerings (in especially Leviticus)? The Bible says that God knows the ending from the beginning so why didn't he specify 'do this till Messiah comes'? But, even knowing, He said "forever." Heb. 13:8 says God is the same, yeaterday, today and forever. Is that the same forever as in the Torah? Mat. 28:20 Yeshua said "I am with you always, even unto the end of the world." Is that the same forever as in the Torah? Or does "forever" mean different things? Cheri |

Thanks for the response, Jesusman, and your answer seems reasonable but even with an amendment, doesn't forever still mean forever? If I missed it, please, bring to my attention, but I don't recall anywhere where Yeshua stated not to observe the feasts, fasts and holidays? (Granted, once the Temple was destroyed the sacrificial system had to stop because the Temple was the place God Himself had designated as the place to perform such offerings.) But I don't recall where we are told NOT to observe the days that God told His people to observe forever. :-) Cheri |

168 | Did He complete the Old Testament? | Bible general Archive 3 | skccab | 192338
Morning Steve, Thanks for the response. I read Galatians over the weekend and my understanding is that it was talking about a group of born-Jews (not practicing Jews) who were just trying to stir up trouble (and doing a decent job of it). The verse you quoted does say that Gentiles don't HAVE to, but doesn't say NOT to - so we're still working with the terms forever, perpetual, permanent etc (used in different Bible versions as available in e-Sword). Don't get me wrong, Steve, I'm not trying to spur an argument, I really am having trouble reconciling these ideas. And right now, I'm really struggling with the "forever" things. Still learning :-) Cheri |

169 | Did He complete the Old Testament? | Bible general Archive 3 | skccab | 192340
Hiya Steve, I don't feel that it is a burden and the "Law" that the Jews couldn't bear was all the traditional oral additions that the elders kept throwing into it. Yeshua said this, too. Mat 23:1 Then spake Jesus to the multitudes and to his disciples, Mat 23:2 saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit on Moses seat: Mat 23:3 all things therefore whatsoever they bid you, these do and observe: but do not ye after their works; for they say, and do not. Mat 23:4 Yea, they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with their finger. Mat 23:5 But all their works they do to be seen of men: for they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments, So what do we do with the above verses, especially the one where Yeshua tells us to "do and observe" these things? The original Torah as recorded in the Books of Moses show me a God full of care and concern for His people (and even included those called strangers in their land). These the Jews "chose" not to obey. :-) Cheri |

171 | Hypocrite and refused to be saved same? | Bible general Archive 3 | skccab | 192393
Hey Jeff, Maybe I'm pretexting here, but using Lk 12:48b ...And to whomsoever much is given, of him shall much be required: and to whom they commit much, of him will they ask the more. And also the verse that talks about teachers being more accountable (I don't know where that one is) I've always thought about that verse in 1Cor. 5 as being to just let the wrong-doer be if after all is said and done he/she refuses to stop behaving badly. The more it's pointed out that it is wrong the more light is going in and being ignored (therefore more to answer for). Like you said, it's a brother or sister we're talking about (a wayward one, no doubt) and we need to be there if and when they "come to themselves." I'm having trouble wording this, but maybe you follow what I'm trying to say? :-) - We don't kick them out (excommunicate/ostracize) them but we don't embrace them wholeheatedly as though they are in the right either? Cheri |

175 | Hebrew language? | Bible general Archive 3 | skccab | 192719
Hi Mike, I'm aware of that site also (although I'm very happy it passed inspection by Hank, one whose opinion I highly prize) and it's about as accurate as others. As you study Hebrew, you'll find some call a Yod a Yud, a Kaf a Kuf, etc., nothing major. See if there is a Messianic Jewish fellowship in your area, they very often offer Hebrew lessons, and I would imagine delving into something like that would be a lot more fun, not to mention easier, with others. My Messianic fellowship is starting up Hebrew lessons in the next month or so and I'm soooo excited!! I, too, started trying to learn Hebrew on my own (it's absolutely amazing), but needless to say, once I got the letters down and their numerical values, I kinda got stuck, so really looking forward to the classes. Good luck from me too. :-) Cheri |

Michael, I just recently found out that Sefer Torahs are done by hand with a quill pen, and just the books of Moses can take 18 months to do and run at the least expensive about 1900 dollars. Sefer means counter - they actually physically count every letter to make sure it is absolutely perfect. If the page isn't, they totally re-do the whole page (even 2 letters touching each other disqualifies it!!). A Haftorah scroll is larger, so would probably cost a lot more. Even purchasing a repaired scroll is a major investment. But wouldn't it be wonderful to have one?? (And depending how old the repaired scroll is, and where it is from, it can run as much as 30,000 dollars or more.) Shalom Cheri |

Michael, The first time I saw our Sefer Torah up close and opened - I can't tell you what it felt like, looking at the exact copy of what Yeshua read from!! Nothing changed, not one yod out of place, it was awe-inspiring. I've begun Hebrew classes and just can't wait to do aliyah and carry the scroll for the procession and then read from it. That's gonna be soooo amazing!! (I figure in about 2-3 years hahahaha. I'm a slow learner.) Shalom Cheri |
