221 | tithing | Acts 13:39 | prayon | 65219
Greetings, “Don’t misunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came to fulfill them. I assure you, until heaven and earth disappear, even the smallest detail of God’s law will remain until its purpose is achieved. So if you break the smallest commandment and teach others to do the same, you will be the least in the Kingdom of Heaven. But anyone who obeys God’s laws and teaches them will be great in the Kingdom of Heaven (Matt 5:17-19 New Living Translation). prayon
222 | tithing | Acts 13:39 | prayon | 65320
Greetings FTimA, Does not all we own belong to God? And if we are not bound by tithing does that mean that God wants us to give when we want to give? Does God not still say that we can have 90 percent but 10 percent belongs to Him? prayon
223 | What is a tent-maker? | Acts 18:3 | prayon | 7125
Just to add a note - Tent making was a trade that was highly esteemed and poorly paid. Also, in relation to Paul, according to Eermans Bible Dictionary it is also probable that it was also used of leatherworkers and therefore, that Paul could of been a leatherworker. It also added that older commentaries suggest that Paul was a weaver of goat's hair, a trade associated with Cilicia, the apostles home, but Paul probably learned his trade in Jerusalem. |

226 | Differences in meaning of Romans 2:12 ? | Rom 2:12 | prayon | 165748
That is a difficult question because I am not here to judge whether someone can or is going to heaven. The people judged on their actions are the ones who have never heard the name of Jesus. As for the persons you are asking about - I believe first it would depend on their heart and whether they ever were told about Jesus and declined Him. Did they never read the bible because they never had access to one or never heard of one or did they not read it because they didn't want to. It is hard to believe that someone living now adays were never told about Jesus at sometime in their lives. Also did they know in their heart that the sexual sins they committed were wrong? If so they will be held accountable for them. I do know that if someone ever told them about Jesus and they refused Him in their lives then they can not enter the kingdom of heaven without repenting and turning their lives over to Him. Sorry I can't be of more help. prayon |

227 | Are gays/lesbians bound for hell? | Rom 5:8 | prayon | 41233
Greetings Marquita, Homosexuality is considered and acceptable practice by many in our worlk today - even by some churches. But society does not set the standard for God's law. Many homosexuals believe that their desires are normal and they have a right to express them but I refer you to the verses below: 1Cor 6:9,10: Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders not thieves not the greedy not drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. Lev 18:22: Thou shall not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. Lev 20:13: If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads. Rom 1:26-28: For this God gave them up to degrading passions, Their woman exchanged natural intercourse for unnatural, and in the same way also the men, giving up natural intercourse with women were consumed with passion for one another....And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind and to things that should not be done. God's plan for natural sexual relationshops is His ideal for His creation. Unfortunately, sin distorts the natural use of God's gifts. Sin means not only denying God, but also denying the way we are made. Homosexuality is strictly forbidden in scripture (see above scriptures). However, the good news is that God is willing to receive anyone who comes to Him in faith. God can and will forgive sexual sins just as He forgives any other sin. But when we come to Him we must put away our former ways and walk in His ways. I know I am being blunt and may sound uncaring or condescending but I do not mean to. You are a sister in Christ and with that comes my love in Christ. But I feel that a issue is either black or white. There is no gray area. Suppose that a murderer or a thief or a liar, or a swindler or a slanderer believed in God and studied His word religiously and went to church each week but still continued to murder or swindle, or steal, or lie, or slander: do you believe that he should or will inherit the kingdom of God? Luke 13:24-27 tell us that the door to heaven is narrow. It also tells us that Many will cry "Lord, open the door" and you will say 'But we ate and drank with you' and He will reply, 'I tell you, I do not know you. Go away, all you who do evil.' In your question you stated that you were concerned. I believe this to be the Holy Spirit at work in you convicting you of your lifestyle. Please let your prayers be that God show you the truth Himself and that He lead you to the place that He wants you to be at. You will be in my prayers. prayon |

228 | Are gays/lesbians bound for hell? | Rom 5:8 | prayon | 41269
Greetings again Marquita, You are being very wise in recognizing Satan for what he is - a liar. He indeed will use any scheme or trickery in the book to try and get you to rationalize that you are not sinning. You said that you feel as though you are happy where you are at, and I applaud you for realizing that this is Satan making you think this. God will give you the strength that you need to get away from this lifestyle. Pray hard for that strength Marquita. You can and must resist acting upon the desires to remain in this lifestyle. Consciously avoid places or activities you know will kindle your temptations. This includes breaking the relationship you are in now and putting and keeping a good distance from this person. Never ever under estimate the power of Satan. Get involved in a church that is bible based and knows homosexuality is a sin. Find a professional Christian counselor or pastorial counselor that you can receive help from. What you are in is a type of addiction and you need counseling to break free of this addiction. Continuse to remain scared of Satan. It can be a driving force. I don't know if it will help you or not but I read a book once and whenever I start to sin by telling a little lie or getting back more that I should by a cashier it comes to mind and I easily have the strength to say no to Satan. For me it was a "scared straight" book. The book is called "A Divine Revelation of Hell". If you are interested in it I am sure you can get it from any Christian bookstore. Again my prayers are with you in your battle. You can also e me at my email address that is listed in my profile if you would like. prayon |

230 | Who groans - us or the Holy Spirit? | Rom 8:26 | prayon | 148587
I take this statement another way - not that we do not know how to pray - We do, Jesus taught us in Matt 5:5-15. I believe that this statement means that we do not always know what we need to pray for. Too many times the flesh enters into our prayers and we pray for what our flesh would want which is not necessarily what we need. prayon |

231 | Do All Things Work Together For Good? | Rom 8:28 | prayon | 11290
I am most happy to give any of my testimonies whenever I get the chance because it shows the awesomeness of God and how He always has a plan! It also helps people to know that someone else has been where they are now and made it out. The thing we must remember though is that He will not put anything on us that we can not bear - although at times I think he gets very close! :o)

236 | Whats up with Judgement, calvinists plz? | Rom 9:21 | prayon | 61484
John, it is not that you are stupid or dense - it is just that this topic has been been discussed into the ground. We need to let it rest in peace. Each time it has made it into another discussion it has caused hard feelings, and harsh words which is not what we Christians are called to behave as. If you really feel the need to discuss Calvinism there are numerous other forums where the subject might be welcomed. As for this forum I am sure that there are many other posts that would interest you where your contributions would be welcome. prayon
237 | Whats up with Judgement, calvinists plz? | Rom 9:21 | prayon | 61509
Then why don't we have a discussion on any of those topics without having a debate on whether the Calvinistic views of each topic are right or wrong. Just curious - what is your idea to keep these long repetitive threads off of the forum? prayon |

238 | Isn't Baptism neccessary for salvation?? | Rom 10:9 | prayon | 73096
We do know the purpose of baptism. The baptism of water is symbolic: going into water is dying to sin being under the water is to be buried with Him coming out of water is being resurrected as was Christ. It is a physical act in which we can relate to Christ. prayon |

239 | How much submitting must a woman do? | 1 Corinthians | prayon | 11758
Steve, If I have taken what you wrote wrong let me know. "Should she leave? Only after sound biblical advice." NO! She should leave period. Yes she should get sound biblical advice and counselling but she needs to leave at once. No woman should ever stay in an abuse situation. Her life as well as her childrens lives are inevitably in danger. Christ would never want a woman to stay where her life is threatened. In an abuse situation the cycle of abuse will always get worse. The man does not believe he is wrong, usually because that was the way he was raised. A man of this type is usually very controlling. He does not want her friends or family to know of the abuse and will do his best to isolate her. There is no "perception" about it being her fault because she does not want to do it his way. We are not talking about just a disgreement here. We are talking about women getting beaten, kicked, threatened with weapons, and pushed into walls or worse. A woman is NEVER deserving of physical or mental abuse. In addition, the children are usually witnesses to this and probably are suffering from violence inflicted on them also. The husband is in need of help. She can be an intergral part in his recovery and hopefully they can put their marriage back together but it will doubtfully happen when the wife is still in the home. A woman should submit to her husband but she should NEVER submit to his abuse. |

LOL! It is about the same now that I think of it. I would further add that it is more akin to wrestling a pig in a pig sty tht is so full you couldn't put another pig in it! The ONLY reason I end up in them is because I head security for a ministry that puts on Christian concerts and I go in there to help keep things them under control. I guess you can imagine they looks I get when theu see "grandma" in the mosh pit! prayon |
