261 | Still an adulteress if I marry again? | 1 Cor 7:11 | Pastor Glenn | 87930
Please read the entire Psalm 51 and make arrangements to see your pastor. Also seek an older and stronger married woman that you can trust to talk to about this. That is not always easy to find someone you can trust. But, it may help you emotionally and spiritually. Psalm 51 A Prayer of Repentance To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David when Nathan the prophet went to him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba. 1 Have mercy upon me, O God, According to Your lovingkindness; According to the multitude of Your tender mercies, Blot out my transgressions. 2Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, And cleanse me from my sin. 3For I acknowledge my transgressions, And my sin is always before me. 4Against You, You only, have I sinned, And done this evil in Your sight-- That You may be found just when You speak,[1] And blameless when You judge. 5Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And in sin my mother conceived me. 6Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts, And in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom. 7Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. 8Make me hear joy and gladness, That the bones You have broken may rejoice. 9Hide Your face from my sins, And blot out all my iniquities. 10Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. 11Do not cast me away from Your presence, And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. 12Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, And uphold me by Your generous Spirit. 13Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, And sinners shall be converted to You. 14Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God, The God of my salvation, And my tongue shall sing aloud of Your righteousness. 15O Lord, open my lips, And my mouth shall show forth Your praise. 16For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it; You do not delight in burnt offering. 17The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, A broken and a contrite heart-- These, O God, You will not despise. 18Do good in Your good pleasure to Zion; Build the walls of Jerusalem. 19Then You shall be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, With burnt offering and whole burnt offering; Then they shall offer bulls on Your altar. |

263 | Bible ... be “a doubting Thomas."? | 1 Cor 13:8 | Pastor Glenn | 133012
Hello, Country Girl, You said: “Why do you think the episode of Thomas' doubting the resurrected Lord and verifying Christ's nail prints and wound in his side was included in our Bible? If I were to show up at your door claiming to be Jesus Christ, would you not expect to see some sort of Godly endorsement of such a claim just as in the first century? It seems the same principle should be applied to anyone who claims to have powers reserved for someone actually representing God as all Bible prophets did.” OK, now I understand that you are referring to “fake” healings, fake miracles, and fake “healers”. “Naturally you know my answer to your question frin James 5 so I won't address it at all.” No, I do not know your answer. Please address this scripture: Jam 5:14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: Jam 5:15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he hath committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Jam 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. If I must gather from your previous posts, you seem to believe that “Jam 5:16 …pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” … was only for the first century church. I am honestly not sure if this is your position concerning this scripture. “Why do you think the episode of Thomas' doubting the resurrected Lord and verifying Christ's nail prints and wound in his side was included in our Bible?” Thomas was without excuse. Jesus had already told them that He would rise from the dead. Mark 16:14 Later He appeared to the eleven as they sat at the table; and He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen. John 20:25 The other disciples therefore said to him, "We have seen the Lord." So he said to them, "Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe." John 20:29 Jesus said to him, "Thomas because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." Why did he say “…Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." Blessings to you too, Country Girl, Pastor Glenn |

264 | Bible ... be “a doubting Thomas."? | 1 Cor 13:8 | Pastor Glenn | 133145
"Now the tough part for us here on earth is to figure out what's NOT real. I would have to definitely include those deceptive acts called miracles by those doing the deceiving when those miracles DON'T meet the high standards as set forth in God's Word. " Exactly. By definition a "deceptive act" is not a "miracle" at all, but it is in the catagory of "lying wonder": 2 Thessalonians 2 9The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, 10and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, 12that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. Blessings to you too, Pastor Glenn |

265 | Prove all things hold fast to the good.. | 1 Cor 15:1 | Pastor Glenn | 86038
Goodnewsminister, While most of us agree that the Good News Gospel is the best, but it is incomplete without also proclaiming the consequences (hell fire). For many of the wicked Jesus spoke of the sign of the prophet Jonah: Matthew 12:39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: Matthew 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. Matthew 12:41 The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here. Matthew 16:4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed. Remember Jonah's message: Jonah 3:4 And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown. Where was the Good News? God revealed the Good news to their hearts as they repented: Jonah 3:5 So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them. 6 For word came unto the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he laid his robe from him, and covered him with sackcloth, and sat in ashes. 7 And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water: 8 But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily unto God: yea, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands. 9 Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not? 10 And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not. Goodnewsminister, if there are no consequences for sin, then how do you explain these scriptures concerning the fear of the Lord? Psalm 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do His commandments. His praise endures forever. Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction. Proverbs 9:10 "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. The consequences (hell) cannot be left out of the message. 47And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire-- 48where "Their worm does not die And the fire is not quenched. [Isaiah 66:24] Jeremiah 23 16Thus says the LORD of hosts: "Do not listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you. They make you worthless; They speak a vision of their own heart, Not from the mouth of the LORD. 17They continually say to those who despise Me, "The LORD has said, "You shall have peace"'; And to everyone who walks according to the dictates of his own heart, they say, "No evil shall come upon you."' 266 | Prove all things hold fast to the good.. | 1 Cor 15:1 | Pastor Glenn | 86272
Goodnewsminister, Luke 12 4"I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more. 5But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after the killing of the body, has power to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him. You said: “Yes, fear Him, God, Who IS ABLE, to DESTROY [not preserve alive, but to utterly destroy] BOTH soul [hum? I thought it was IMMORTAL? Guess not!] and body in HELL!" If the soul is not immortal then how will anyone be TRULY resurrected? Will a new copy be made of us? This would be difficult to explain to identical twins that have the exact same DNA. How do you reconcile this with scripture without first recognizing the immortal soul in scripture? Jesus said that when God said that He IS (not “was”) the "God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob" He was implying that God is not the God of the dead, but of the living. But by your interpretation they do not presently exist. This would make Christ’s statement meaningless. You said: "Yes, God is ABLE to DO what you have been misTaught namely, He CAN and WILL DESTORY, not preserve alive, BOTH soul and body in HELL! The Greek word used here is Gehenna, the Jews to whom our Lord was speaking knew where this place was, as it was a reference to the Valley of Hinnom just outside of Jerusalem's walls where the dead carcasses of condemn criminals and the trash of the city was thrown and to which fire and brimstone were added to keep the flames burning and whatever the fire did not DESTROY, the maggot ate for food. “ No. The Jews recognized the need to bury the dead. The dead represented a higher level of uncleanness. The land bought for Judas was used for unknown graves: Mat 27:7 And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter's field, to bury strangers in. Mat 27:8 Wherefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day. You said: “They well knew that this represented UTTER and EVERLASTING DESTRUCTION, as the one's thrown there were UNFIT for a memorial tomb, symbolic of their not being worthy of a burial tomb because they were thought to be unworthy of a resurrection." Wrong, this did not just "represent" everlasting destruction, it IS everlasting destruction. Destroy is as in everlasting torment: Mat 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: How can the ordinary fire of a trash heap hurt the devil and his angels’ spirits. And by your misinterpretation, what is the point in casting people into the lake of “everlasting” fire: Rev 20:13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. Rev 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. Rev 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Mar 9:43 And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Mar 9:44 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. Mar 9:45 And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Mar 9:46 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. Mar 9:47 And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: Mar 9:48 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. How is it that “death and hell” were both cast into the lake of fire? This is not our “churches” misinterpretation. But rather, these are many scriptures teach the immortal soul and everlasting torment that you fail to explain. Pastor Glenn |

You asked: "are you saying that lazarus is still alive physically until the Lord comes. can you show me the scriptures regarding that." No. I am not saying that Lazarus is still alive physically. What I am saying is for Lazarus to die twice is an exception to the scripture that says it is appointed unto man once to die. God makes exceptions to any rule that He wants. So some die twice as did Lazarus, while others may never die, as in Enoch: Heb 11:5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. |

269 | The Lord told me to tell you..." ? | 1 Thess 5:20 | Pastor Glenn | 140567
Hello Doc, Thanks for your excellent reponse, as well as, excellent responses from EdB, Kalos, and Searcher. You guys and others are great on this forum. Here is a quote from your reference website: "The Validation Of Prophecies I Thessalonians 5:19-20 commands the Christian to prove, or test, all prophecies. How? The apostles were able by their miraculous gifts to vindicate their own message, but no such provision was given the prophets." Also the summary: "Summary Prophecy was an important gift to the church and met a unique need in the early church, but it is no longer needed or given. Its "partial" messages (I Corinthians 13:9) have been replaced by the complete Revelation. The church today stands, then, at a great advantage without it." Please explain the differences between this and the comments of others. I fail to see much differences in the details. Honestly, my comprehension is laking here. Pastor Glenn |

270 | The Lord told me to tell you..." ? | 1 Thess 5:20 | Pastor Glenn | 140602
Hello Doc, "Cessationism ... ... In orthodox Protestanism it is simply about sola scriptura. This is the advantage that Zaspel mentions (i.e., The scriptures, "the only sufficient, certain, and infallible rule of all saving knowledge, faith, and obedience"). Well, cessation is in house debatable. I see the scriptures focus on "fruit" (Gal 5:22-23) of the Spirit rather than "gifts" of the Spirit. After we rank all gifts, as well as, rank all fruit, we get prophecy as the greatest gift and love as the greatest fruit. Love then, ranks above prophecy (1 Cor 13:2,13). There is no debating this: Gal 5 22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 1 Cor 13 1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 2And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 13And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love. Some churches look for gifts to show spiritual growth. But, isn't the Church full of "fruit" much better than the church full of "gifts"? Any comments? Pastor Glenn |

Hello 1way, I just did the math using a spreadsheet program. Starting with only one couple, and assuming each couple lived only 40 years while producing 4 children per couple, here is what we get: years - number of people 0- 2 40- 4 80- 8 120- 16 160- 32 200- 64 240- 128 280- 256 320- 512 360- 1024 400- 2048 440- 4096 480- 8192 520- 16384 560- 32768 600- 65536 640- 131072 680- 262144 720- 524288 760- 1048576 800- 2097152 840- 4194304 880- 8388608 920- 16777216 960- 33554432 1000- 67108864 1040- 134217728 1080- 268435456 1120- 536870912 1160- 1073741824 1200- 2147483648 1240- 4294967296 1280- 8589934592 Any questions? I understand what you were saying EdB. But, it is sad that this person has yet to acknowledge the authority of scripture. Gbennett76 posts strawman arguments without telling his sources. That argument falsely says that we have only two scriptures on which to base sola scriptura, but I like what Jesus said: Matthew 5:17 "Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. John 5:39 You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. 46For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for he wrote about Me. 47But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?" gbenntt76, You said: "These are oral traditions of the early gnostic church." You must realize that Apostle Paul never conveyed any "oral traditions" to anyone. He taught scripture and eyewitness accounts of the ressurection of Christ. So for you to grab onto all of this "oral traditions of the early gnostic church" just goes to show your lack of a foundation in Christ. gbennett76, You said, "A Little Mormon Thought... ..." A little Mormonism, A dash of secular humanism, a cup of gnosticism, 2 teaspoons of homosexualism, top it all off with sexual immorality. Shake well, and what do you get: 1 Cor 6 9Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals,[1] nor sodomites, 10nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. 11And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God. We stand by the belief in the authority of scripture. It is also a rule for every post on this forum. I hope that others now understand why this is a rule. They that stand for nothing will fall for anything. 277 | Sola Scriptura-A False teaching | 2 Tim 3:16 | Pastor Glenn | 94495
gbennett76, You said: "...I believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth...." However, oral tradition was attacked by Jesus: Mark 7 3For the Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they wash their hands in a special way, holding the tradition of the elders. 4When they come from the marketplace, they do not eat unless they wash. And there are many other things which they have received and hold, like the washing of cups, pitchers, copper vessels, and couches. 5Then the Pharisees and scribes asked Him, "Why do Your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashed hands?" 6He answered and said to them, "Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written: "This people honors Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me. 7And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.'[2] 8For laying aside the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of men[3] --the washing of pitchers and cups, and many other such things you do." 9He said to them, "All too well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your tradition. 10For Moses said, "Honor your father and your mother';[4] and, "He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death.'[5] 11But you say, "If a man says to his father or mother, "Whatever profit you might have received from me is Corban"--' (that is, a gift to God), 12then you no longer let him do anything for his father or his mother, 13making the word of God of no effect through your tradition which you have handed down. And many such things you do." Jesus and the apostles gave us the example of how scripture must be interpreted in light of scripture. Also, it is clear that the New Testament is built on the Old Testament: Luke 24:32 And they said to one another, "Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?" Luke 24:44 Then He said to them, "These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me." Luke 24:45 And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures. Acts 8:32 The place in the Scripture which he read was this: "He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; And as a lamb before its shearer is silent, So He opened not His mouth. Acts 8:35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning at this Scripture, preached Jesus to him. Pastor Glenn |
