Dear Doc, No blasphemy intended or implied. Oppression is of the devil according to Acts 10:38, of course it comes through people so some would assume there is a dividing line between some oppression and others, yet if we truely believe the words of Christ he does know the source of all things, including oppression. He said it is of the devil, no human being said that.... I will never blaspheme Jesus, sorry you were offended. Always In Christ, C.S.M. |

Dear Luthren, In Gen 1:27, notice God named the species, "man" male and female. That is like God naming a lion, and that species named lion, is both male and female. This man (the species, both male and female) is blessed of God Gen 1:28, is told they have a purpose, be fruitful, multiply, replenish the earth, subdue it; have dominion over fish, fowl, every living that that moves on the earth...(note: he didn't say mankind was to rule over mankind, that's God's job, but he didn't say we were not suppose to dominate satan, in fact satan was a serpert that "moved on the earth" and God intended for man to cast him out of the Garden. Mark 16:15-20). Sometimes we can learn more about what God does NOT say as by what he does say... God created two trees in the middle of the Garden of Eden...Gen 2:9..The Tree of Life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. God gave the man (Adam and Eve) permission to eat of every tree of the garden...if he had stopped there, Adam and Eve would not have had a problem. However God did not stop there, he gave another command. Gen 2:16 God commanded the man (adam and Eve, the species: man), saying, Of every tree of the the garden you may freely eat; (17) but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat: for in the day you eat of it, you shall surely die (the margin says: in dying you shall die). Here mankind had the permission to eat of the tree of Life freely. However God, in his mercy, warned them that if they ate of the tree of both good and evil, the process of death would begin in their bodies and they would die,(in dying you will die) over time. This is like a natural parent telling their children, "don't go play in the traffic, if you do a big Mack truck will come along and run over you, and you will die." That would be a good parent that warned their children of danger, wouldn't it. God is the best parent in the universe. He knew the devil was going to show up in the garden and tempt them to play in the traffic of disobedience to God, so they would be his servants and he could legally kill them for this disobedience. Ro 6:16, 23. After all, disobedience is what got satan kicked out of heaven, he rebelled against God and wanted to exercise his own self-will and take God's place. Isa 14:1-32 Disobedience to God, his stated word, is called sin, (of which,sin, satan was the encourager to disobey God's spoken word). Gen 3:1-7 Sin, then, is doing opposite of what God says to do in his written or (in Adam and Eves Case, since the word of God had not been written down yet, the) spoken word. For this action, God cursed satan Gen 3:14. Because of the action of satan, and the action of mankind (at that point, it was only Adam and Eve, plus all the children that WOULD BE born of them in the future which were still seed in the loins of Adam)then God was the first shedder of blood for the covering over of sin. Gen 3:21 "coats of skins" means the animal had to be slain so the coat for them could be made. Why is that important? It is written, "without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin." Heb 9:22, Matt 26:28 Jesus said, "This is my blood of the New Testament, which is shed for many for the remmission of sins." We understand this plan of God from the fact that God never changes. Malachi 3:6 "For I am the Lord, I CHANGE NOT;". What does that tell us about God? He was the same before he created the earth and mankind, he is the same now, and he will be the same when we see him face to face in eternity, he doesn't change! Therefore, because he doesn't change it is my personal belief that the animal slain in the Garden of Eden by God the Father, was a spotless lamb that was used in example form. Why do I believe this? Because Jesus is called the "Lamb of God" in the New Testament John 1:36. So before God sent Jesus to the earth to die for our sins AFTER he taught mankind through life experiences to obey him, and God walked with the people, all through the Old Testament, he gave the Garden of Eden example of the shedding of blood to cover (at that time) but to remit (in this time) sin in the New Testament. God's plan for mankind? Hear God's word, Obey God's word, Cast the devil out of your thoughts, words and deeds (by obedience to God's written and living word, Jesus), experience the blessings of God in a devil infested world, recognize good and evil, but don't participate in evil. The rest of the answer Luthren July 30, 2005 Always In Christ, C.S.M. Micah 6:8 defines good: He (God) has showed you, O man (both male and female) what is good; and what does the Lord REQUIRE of you, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God" (margin says: to humble yourself to walk with God.) This is a self humbling, God will not force you to walk with him. Evil then would be the opposite of good: To do unjustly, to hate mercy, and to refuse to humble yourself to walk WITH God. Hi Kalos, No the Spirit is not mentioned here, but you can agree Jesus knew the end from the beginning, after all, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit planned everything before they called it into existence, didn't they? If we do not take all of what God says in the scripture and compare it with all the other scripture in the Bible how can the Holy Spirit guide us into "all" the truth? We could say, 2 plus 2 is four and that's just the way it is and no other elements enter into it. However, we also know that you can add 1 plus 1 plus 1 plus 1 to equal four, and you can say 3 plus 1 is four, so there are other elements that enter into congnitively recognizing elements behind other elements. God in his wisdom, in the old testament, set a foundation of righteousness and sin. Sin is simply, doing opposite of what God says is good, and commands us to do. Romans tells us the law reveals "sin" to us. What that means to me is, When God said "honor your Father and Mother" when a person disregarded that command in any twist of their imigination, God called it sin! It's the same way with everything God says, big or small. Does the Holy Spirit exist today? Did he only exist when it is recorded in the Bible? Did God baptize Jesus with the Holy Spirit? Did Jesus only say what he heard his Father say? These are questions every believer, by the word of God, has to answer. The answers are in the scriptures, but all of them are not bunched up with a neon sign on them saying, "this one goes with that one." Of course one may ask God to teach them the questions to ask, as I did, many years ago, and he has been faithful in doing that. If we only have tunnel vision, and not God's vision, by asking his questions, it is dark all the way around the tunnel, and there is only light at the end of the tunnel. We need light now, in this world's tunneled vision outlook. I based what I said, not on a neon light, but on one of the purposes Jesus came to earth, which was to usher in, for the benefit of mankind, the Holy Ghost..John 16:17...and the fact that at the time he was speaking in Matt 10:11-14 the Holy Ghost had not yet been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. John 7:38-39..so they would have no idea what he was talking about, even if he had told them. You realize Jesus didn't tell them "everything" he knew, don't you? He doesn't tell us everything he knows. Why? I don't think we could absorb it anyway, and he knows that. Ever heard the saying, "give only information that is needed for the job?" or the "only on the need to know" principle? You are free to receive or reject what was said, and I'm pleased that you acknowledge the teaching is found in the Bible, and yes, it is not "specifically" mentioned in this passage. Dear Obi1kanobi, The scripture you are talking about is a primary scripture to understand concerning the workings of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost. I John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost; and these three are ONE. This is the basic fact of what theologians call the Trinity of God. Since this scripture is stated so clearly that they are one, the question to ask is, "How are they one, yet three." The Bible is always its own interpreter and says it is spiritually discerned I Cor 2:14 The "natural" man receives not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness to him: neither "can" he know them for they are spiritually discerned. I Cor 2:13 tells us the Holy Spirit is our teacher, "comparing spiritual things with spiritual." and that it is not man's wisdom he teaches. God's word contains all the spiritual things of God. Ask God to teach you I John 2:27. However, if a man is born again, which means that person has asked God to forgive them of their sins and save them, then they are born again from above, God turns on their "knowers" that have been off from their "natural" birth, to the point they asked God to save them. It has never been God that did not want mankind to know God and his plan for mankind. Scripture says it is satan that blinds the minds of mankind so they cannot see or know God See II Cor 4:3-5 which states the "god of this world "(the system of thought, word and deed)has "blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest (or so that) the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine (or be revealed) unto them." The god of this world system is satan. He is a control freak. He doesn't want mankind to know "the one true God and Jesus whom he has sent" John 17:3 because, "this is eternal life". What is eternal life? Jesus said, "This is eternal life: that they may KNOW you the only true God, and Jesus Christ, Whom you have sent." So here is where mankind gets their "knowers" turned on. Knowing what? God the Father and God the Son and God the Holy Ghost! What is the "process" of this knowing? It does not come overnight! It is a learning process! Why? Because God is so big, full of so much wisdom, knows so much, that if he were to reveal himself all at once to a person, they could not understand, it would literally do what the world says, it would blow your mind! So God gave mankind a method that they could handle, "Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, RIGHTLY dividing the word of God." II Tim 2:15 Does that take 30 seconds or less? No, it is a lifelong process. No human being has the capacity to know all there is to know about God's thoughts, words and deeds that they can come to some pat answer in 30 seconds or less. Should that overwhelm us? No! Why not? The Holy Spirit is the teacher sent from God to guide us into all the truth. John 14:26. Jesus said, God the Father sends the Holy Spirit in the name of Jesus to teach us "ALL" things. That covers everything we need to know in spirit, soul, body, being a doer of God's word, family, finance, fellowship, service, resisting the devil, destroying his works, kingdom, thoughts, words and deeds. No human can learn these things without asking God to show them to them, how to walk properly before God, and how to think, speak and act before God. Will God do these things for you? Yes! How do you know he will? Ask him...James 3:2 says, "you have not because you ask not" then your motive and information must be right also,(3) "you ask, and receive not,(why?) you ask amiss" What is amiss? "so that you may consume it on your own lusts." What's that? Don't just ask to get what you want when you want it. Ask God to show you what he wants in your life, show you how to get there from where you are by the word of God, then when he shows you in his word what to do, then just do it! This is the process. It will come to you. It won't be in thirty seconds or less, so don't get impatient with yourself or your learning process. Read God's word. Ask him to reveal it to you personally and show you how to apply what you read in his word. Now you are growing, and will come to the day you can say, Thank you God for all of your wonderful word and works you have done in me, in Jesus name! Always in Christ, C.S.M. |

Another scripture you may want to consider is Malchi 4:1-6 the last book of the old testament. Particularly where Malachi stated by the Spirit of God: Remember the law of Moses my servant, which I (i.e.God) commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments. (5) Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord: (6) And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse. The purpose? Hearts turned to God and to each other in love. Matt 11:12-13 Jesus said, "And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven sufferes violence, and the violent take it by force. (13)For all the prophests and the law prophesied until John (14) And if you will receive it, THIS IS Elias, which was for to come. (15) He that has ears to hear, let him hear. Concerning John himself: Luke 1:15 For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor stong drink; AND he shall be FILLED WITH THE HOLY GHOST even from his mother's womb. (16) and many (not all)of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God. (17) And he shall go before him in the SPIRIT AND POWER of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people PREPARED for the Lord. God had prophesied through Malachi to this end, and we are still in "that" day until Jesus comes again. Some Theologians call it the church age. Always In Christ, C.S.M. |

38 | 3rd division becomes 1st In God's eyes | Luke 3:3 | C.S.M. | 154781 | ||
Dear Angel 1, Just as a matter of information, in the Old Testament God called one nation "His People", that was Israel. All other nations were called Gentiles. God made covenant with Israel, and had no such covenant with the "nations" or Gentiles. That was God's division of mankind, not man's. It was only God's people who were circumcised, (and the converts to God's law) so the Gentiles or nations had no such requirement from God. The Jews and the Gentiles made up the whole population of the earth. This of course was from God's viewpoint (really the only one that matters, or should matter to mankind.) One of the reasons, not the only one, but one of the reasons, Jesus came was to create a body of people not called Jews, not called Gentiles, but called "the church." Where was God going to get the people for this new creation called the church? There were only two divisions Jew and Gentile? He draws the church from the only two existing pools of people there are on the earth, Jew and Gentile. I Cor 10:32 Give no offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to THE CHURCH OF GOD: Eph 1:1-23 is describing God's plan of all ages, what God has already done for this group called, "the church" drawn out of the Jewish nation and the Gentile nations... Notice verse 22-23 where Paul is explaining "the church" and is calling it the head and body.... Eph 1:22-23 And (God Himself) has put all thing under his (Jesus) feet, and gave him the head over all things to the CHUCH, (23) which is his body, the fulness of him (God the Father) that fills all in all." Born again people are the body of Christ. Christ is the head of the body of born again people, both Jew and Gentiles. Eph 2:15 called one NEW MAN... II Cor 5:17 Therefore if any man be IN CHRIST, he is a NEW CREATURE; old things are passed away; behold all things are become new. Gal 6:15 For IN CHRIST Jesus neither circumcisoion avails any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a NEW CREATURE. (16) And as many as walk according to THIS RULE, peace be on them, and mcercy, and upon the Israel OF GOD. Always In Christ, C.S.M. |

Hi Doc, The Holy Spirit is the instrument of regeneration given of God through the Lord Jesus Christ I'm sure you will agree. I know that you mean well, but the scripture given did address the issue from the scriptural standpoint, not necessarily a particular persons denominational standpoint. I would add to the old adage. "A denominational text without a context of scripture is a pretext." I know you would not assume the question the Lord was asking was not looked at before an answer was given. Thanks for your thoughts on the subject though. Always in Christ, C.S.M. |
