| Shalom rbradley, Yes, he did. His complaint was with Pharisaic Judaism of the day. They, like Rabbinical Jews of today, believed that the oral traditions of men were as inspired as the Scriptures. If you follow the Sermon on the Mount (from either Matthew or Luke) you'll see that Jesus says 'you've heard...' (this you won't find in the Torah, but in the Talmud, Mishna, Gemara), then he continues with, 'I tell you...' (and this you CAN find in the Books of Moses). This was one of the many reasons the Pharisees didn't like him, he held a mirror of themselves up for them to see and the picture wasn't pretty. |
