1 We are the Temple of the Living God 1 Corinthians limojewel 84755
In my study last night I found the neatest description of ICor.3:16. We are the temple of God, yes but one of the Sermon notes on Gateway said we are the " Container of God's Presence".
I long to be a better container.
2 We are the Temple of the Living God 1 Corinthians CMK 85019
I have recently returned to the Lord after a period of doubt and searching. I found that in each of the paths I followed I once again "found" the Lord. So I don't prefer the term container. I wouldn't want to believe that God can be contained. I prefer the word, "Vessel." Although a vessel is something that holds, it also gives the idea of moving. As a ship (vessel) brings missionaries to foreign lands, so we bring the Lord to those around us. God fills me and works through me and He doesn't stop there.
3 We are the Temple of the Living God 1 Corinthians Hank 85022
CMK, I just want to say that I rejoice with you that you have found peace in Christ after a time of quest and doubt. John Henry Newman wrote of his experience and it is expressed poetically in the second stanza of the beautiful hymn "Lead, Kindly Light": "I was not ever thus, nor prayed that Thou shouldst lead me on; I loved to choose and see my path; but now lead Thou me on. I loved the garish day, and spite of fears, pride ruled my will: remember not past years." The next stanza is packed with faith, hope and trust: "So long Thy power hath blest me, sure it still will lead me on, o'er moor and fen, o'er crag and torrent, till the night is gone; and with the morn those angel faces smile, which I have loved long since and lost a while." .... May God bless you richly, dear follower of Christ. --Hank
