621 | Where the priest impatient and greedy? | 1 Sam 2:13 | skccab | 206149
Shalom Albert, I noticed that you got some other answers, more detailed than mine, especially from Val, that hit the nail on the head. The fat belonged to God. I don't think you missed anything in the Torah's directions. These particular priests were just not God's ideal. They were out for their own, and phooy on everything else including God's directions. 622 | Everlasting Annointing Oil?? | 1 Kings | skccab | 195753
Shalom Virtue, Are you thinking of Elijah and the widow who had just enough flour and oil for her and her son to eat one more time? Elijah told her to fix him some bread and to fix bread for herself and son and the oil and flour remained plentiful till the Lord sent rain. You can find this story in 1 Kings 17. Cheri |

623 | Everlasting Annointing Oil?? | 1 Kings | skccab | 195833
Morning Virtue, Thanks for letting me know, glad I could help. But Val mentioned another very interesting story - that one about Chanukkah. After reclaiming and cleansing the Temple, only 1 day's worth of oil was found to light the Menorah, but the oil lasted till more could be made and days of purification accomplished. A wonderful story. Check this site out, just a quick paraphrase of the historical events: http://biblia.com/bible/maccabees.htm :-) Cheri |

I stated only that it was a paraphrase of the historical events. A place to go to get some info. Nothing more nothing less.
625 | When/ why did Israel separate into 2 | 1 Kings | skccab | 203215
Dear Azure, I think I have to agree with Val. I believe the first mention of the split (yet to happen) is found in 1 Kgs. 11:11-13 where the Lord is speaking to Solomon about his evil deeds. In fact, He says He won't take the entire kingdom away from Solomon's son in the future FOR David's sake, that FOR David's sake and the sake of Jerusalem, He will give his son 1 tribe. Cheri |

626 | Please explain 2nd Kings 4:8-17 | 2 Kings | skccab | 213234
Shalom Nitsa, This is one of my favorite stories. I'm not sure what you don't understand and unfortunately I can't give you any deep hidden meaning to it (except maybe be kind and helpful to all cos you never know when you might be caring for one of God's angels :o) ). I pretty much take it at face value. There was a man of God, Elisha, Elijah's successor, who travelled thru the area often. A couple used to take him in when he was in town and the wife decided to make a permanent place for him to stay as he'd travel thru, a place where he could leave his things in safety. She was apparently much younger than her husband and would be left alone at his death, and in those days a widow without a son to help care for her could find herself in dire straits. Soooo, Elisha, wanting to thank her for her unwarranted hospitality, found out what she desired and needed most - a son. He was a prophet of God, his word was good - as she soon found out... I love the rest of the story too! Cheri |

627 | Should Christian men wear a beard? | 1 Chr 19:5 | skccab | 190808
You guys just made it tougher!! First it was distinguishing men from women in the 60's and 70's. Then we had to distinguish Godly men from just men - Now we have to figure out Godly manly men from just Godly men???? Will this never end? :-) Just couldn't resist splashing some humor here. blessings cheri |

628 | Israelites living in Judah | 2 Chronicles | skccab | 209633
Shalom smallgirl, The kingdom of Israel had split into two kingdoms, known as Israel/Ephraim, the northern kingdom, and Judah, the southern kingdom. Many of the northern kingdom decided for one reason or another to live within the southern kingdom boundaries. These are the Israelites that are spoken of as living in Judah. Hope this helped. 631 | After information about the vessels. | 2 Chr 5:1 | skccab | 213913
Shalom Wymer, I don't know what kind of time you have to invest in your quest, but there is a fine Old Testament teaching website that covers the books chapter by chapter, and very often verse by verse. The link is: http://www.torahclass.com/download.html You can download, stream, or just read the text files of the teachings (there are also PDF files to supplement the audio teachings). Beginning in Exodus around week 25 (give or take) Mr. Bradford goes over in detail all the parts, vessels, utensils, different fabrics, etc. of the Wilderness Tabernacle - what they are, what they were used for, how they relate to God's Messiah... Have fun in your studies Cheri |

632 | what can i learn about who God is? | 2 Chr 10:15 | skccab | 202821
Shalom GC, If like you say, you don't have a lot of time to look up scripture in your Bible (I have trouble using mine sometimes due to bad, painful eyesight) - let me suggest you go to esword.com and download that software and all the bible versions (dozens for free, others for just a minimum fee); this software has a wonderful Search feature and then you can just copy and paste. (Or just citing book chapter verse will usually suffice.) The main reason for doing this is to make sure that what is being said is in context with both the discussion and the whole bible passage. :-) Cheri |

637 | If I commit suicide, can I go to heaven? | Job | skccab | 192584
Hey Brad, I agree with Lionheart. There is one church I know of in Tx. who's folks go out and they will go thru a drive-thru and ask the attendant to pray with them. The attendant agrees and they do a 3-4 line quickie "sinner's prayer," give them a brochure, and then add that person to their "souls won for Jesus" list!! Can you believe that? And they tell the person that he is now saved, too. That person certainly can't be said to have prayed in earnest, could he? Blessings Cheri |

638 | If I commit suicide, can I go to heaven? | Job | skccab | 192605
Hi Larry, Everyone has assumed that you have a "home church" to go to to seek help. Let me advise that if you do not have such a place, that the Salvation Army is not only equipped to help you with your spiritual needs they can also very possibly help you with the Bipolar disorder. If you do have a home church ignore above. I'm praying for you, Cheri |

Shalom Pattycake, The previous answer is correct, there are several threads talking about this subject. In one of them, I got this link, went to the site and downloaded the videos (at least I think I remember the teaching files being video and not just audio) I don't agree with him 100 percent but he makes a pretty good case for his position that creation is NOT evolution. http://www.drdino.com/downloads.php Cheri |
