561 | What caused two of Aarons sons to die. | Lev 10:2 | skccab | 212846
MJH, Yeah, it gets me into trouble too. But that's OK. It keeps the God-given mind active and alive, open to possibilities (and also teaches gobs of humility when you get it wrong). :o) Cheri |

562 | Wearing the clothes of the Priests? | Lev 19:19 | skccab | 193442
Howdy Doc, Ezek. 43:18-27 Many say this "prince" is Yeshua in the future temple. I don't have an opinion yet either way - but I do take notice of the fact that there is NO lamb offering being cited. Ezek. 44:1-31 These verses do have much to say about the clothing of the priests (of whom Yeshua is the High Priest). What have you learned about these scenes, Doc? You always have good answers, and I haven't gotten as far as Ezek. in my studies yet. But I don't think I believe that all these chapters are about an imaginary Temple, and because there is no LAMB sacrifice, I think this Temple is a future temple, in the millennium? in Heaven? I'm wanting to know. Shalom Cheri |

563 | Wearing the clothes of the Priests? | Lev 19:19 | skccab | 193456
Afternoon, Doc, Thank you, Doc, for answering so quickly. I'm doing an in-depth study of Hebrews and it took me to Ezekiel's temple. This time, I noticed for the first time that the yom kippur sacrifice is noticeably NOT cited among the sacrifices that are mentioned and thought that very interesting (and must be meaningful). I guess if Charles Spurgeon doesn't know what it means, and you don't know what it means - then I'm in very good company :-). Shalom Cheri P.S. I'm not sure what the "doctrine" or "theology" of dispensationalism is, but if it's what I think it is, I don't buy into it either. I used to own a Dake's Annotated and I kinda get the picture of God scratching His head going, "Oops, I didn't see that one coming, let's see what I can do to fix this and get things back on track." (I over-simplified it a bit, I know.) Our God doesn't change. And again: After I'd posted this morning, I read that you had had some surgery. It sounds like you are well on your way to a remarkable recovery!! This is a good report. I will continue to lift you up in my prayers. You are much loved and appreciated, my brother. |

565 | Wearing the clothes of the Priests? | Lev 19:19 | skccab | 193585
Hey Doc, morning, As I mentioned before, I'm doing a study of Hebrews and this verse showed up: Heb. 8:3-4 (4 in particular) For every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices; so this High Priest too has to have something He can offer. (4) Now if He were on earth, He wouldn't be a priest at all, since there already are priests offering the gifts required by the Torah. (I swear the last time I read Hebrews verse 4 wasn't there!!!!) :-) But doesn't that kinda clear up the Ezekiel temple problem? It must be the heavenly Temple that Ezekiel sees. You think? Still hanging in there :-) Cheri |

567 | Wearing the clothes of the Priests? | Lev 19:19 | skccab | 193619
Hi Lionheart, How are you? Thank you for your encouragement (you too, Doc). I'm studying Hebrews from a comparative (rather than a contrasting) perspective and it's making me see things quite differently. Instead of the writer telling these people that the temple system is bad and abolished (because they were from the system and the system had worked and served its purpose)- and the writer never does say this. I'm looking at the time period - they had been a part of the temple, then accepted, then tolerated, but now they are being kicked out unless they renounce Yeshua. The writer is telling them to hang tough, the Temple was good but Yeshua is better; that the sacrifice system they are having to leave behind for Yeshua was good and did its work as it was supposed to do but they still have a better High Priest offering better sacrifices. This is just opening up Hebrews so wonderfully. I don't know if I worded this well or not but seeing it in a good to better view works so much better than in a bad to good view. :-)???? Shalom Cheri |

Hey Doc, You should know by now that those aren't "my" words (I'm pro-Torah), but in previous studies of Hebrews, that's pretty much how it would be approached - like the writer of the book is telling the audience that it's bad and done away with. I've always had a problem with that approach, but knew no other. Til recently. :-) Still learning Cheri |

Shalom again, Missed your request for more than 1 reference - the other one that I can think of is in Deut. 32:51-52. I'm not sure if there are any more in the O.T. Cheri |

571 | Pillars of Coud and Fire | Num 14:13 | skccab | 196811
Shalom y'all, I have been reading Numbers and am at Num. 14:13-14, and I got to wondering about the pillars of cloud and fire I can't recall reading the answer anywhere. In this verse Moses says that the Egyptians have heard how God walks among the children of Israel and about the pillars of cloud and fire. What I'm wondering is this...During the years in the wilderness, was that cloud visible to others? Caravans of other travellers passing by at a distance, would they have been able to see the cloud? especially the pillar of fire by night, would that have been noticeable to them? Cheri |

573 | In Numbers 22:22 why was God angry with | Num 22:12 | skccab | 209617
Azure, Hello sister, I had always wondered about that part of the passage too. God said to go but yet He was angry. That always threw me for a loop. Thank you, your answer was well put together. Shalom Cheri |

574 | Phinehas and the plague | Num 25:1 | skccab | 195798
Shalom y'all, In Num. 25:6-12, why did the elimination of the man and the Midianite woman by Phinehas stop the plague. I know that the two went into the tabernacle at that point (and that was definitely not a good thing) but the plague was already in progress. What I'm missing is the significance of the two and their termination. Did I miss some passages that stated their sin began the plague? Can someone enlighten me? How did their deaths contribute to the stopping plague? Or was it just Phinehas taking the initiative? still learning Cheri |

575 | Phinehas and the plague | Num 25:1 | skccab | 195802
Shalom dear Val, Thank you. I somehow missed the part about the two being in a position of influence or distinction. Between you and John the picture is coming into better focus :-) Cheri |

577 | Phinehas and the plague | Num 25:4 | skccab | 195795
God bless you John, I was afraid I should have added those passages in my question. It all leads up to the one leader and his Midianite woman going into the tabernacle and Phinehas running them through with his saber or sword/spear and then the plague is stopped. So I was wondering if somewhere in scripture (that I missed or didn't understand) it was stated exactly what the significance of these two deaths in particular, at the hand of Phinehas, had to do with the plague stopping. Or am I trying to "over" understand it? Cheri |

578 | Phinehas and the plague | Num 25:4 | skccab | 195796
P.S. John I'm asking because in Ps. 106:30-31 is says that Phinehas' action was counted for him as righteousness. That's why I'm wondering about the 2 people in particular. |

Shalom brother Let me know what you find, even if it's days or weeks from now. I've got that question written now in back of Bible to keep a look out on it. Never know what may pop up in some other study that will relate :-). And you're right about sister Val. Aren't we blessed to have such a network of Spirit-filled believers to walk with us on our journey? |

580 | Balaam and Balak | Num 31:16 | skccab | 196840
Shalom again, y'all, I'm at a loss again and missing something. I've just finished the Balaam/Balak chapters in Numbers (22-24). I'm using the NKJV and I don't see where Balaam told Balak how to overcome Israel. Does he show up again later, did I misunderstand something he said in Chs. 23 and 24, or like a nimnull do I have him mixed up with some other prophet? (I was thinking he was the prophet who fell from God's favor because he advised the enemy to get Israel to intermarry and worship the enemy's gods? And that happens in Ch. 25 but I don't see Balaam's name anymore in the next few chapters.) Help? :-) Cheri |
