Searcher, Thank you, I will check out those web sites. The Jay P Green one sounds wonderful, I'll take a look at it if my book store has a copy but right now that's way over my budget. But it sounds like what I'm thinking about. cheri |

Hi, Chuck, Maybe there should be a time set aside during election years for just such a purpose? After all, the Word does tell us to be involved by prayer and supplication for our leaders. 1Ti 2:1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 1Ti 2:2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. 1Ti 2:3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior; 1Ti 2:4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. What better way to get Godly people into office than to have Godly people discussing the issues without all the mudslinging we have to muddle through when reading newspapers or viewing TV campaigns. I do agree, that on a regular basis, the Forum is not the place for such duscussions. But a day or two before important national elections, it might serve as a benefit to have godly people to talk to. blessings cheri |

Hi Chuck Yes, I like the way the Book ends too, "We Win!" thru Him that loved us! It was just an idea. Ideas aren't bad, they just sometimes don't work. blessings cheri |

327 | Can the devil tune in to our thoughts? | Bible general Archive 3 | skccab | 188645
InGodITrust, I have only had to face the death of my father (and that when I was very young), so I cannot even conceive what you are going through. But I do know of the strength that our God gives to His own, and I know it will sustain you. I wish I was really good at words to write you something that could comfort you. But I cannot. I can send you these words that were written after great tragedy. The God of Peace was with Spafford in his time of grief, He will be with you now and forevermore. It Is Well With My Soul When peace, like a river, attendeth my way, When sorrows like sea billows roll; Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say, It is well, it is well, with my soul. Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come, Let this blest assurance control, That Christ has regarded my helpless estate, And hath shed His own blood for my soul. My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought! My sin, not in part but the whole, Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more, Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul! For me, be it Christ, be it Christ hence to live: If Jordan above me shall roll, No pang shall be mine, for in death as in life Thou wilt whisper Thy peace to my soul. But, Lord, ‘tis for Thee, for Thy coming we wait, The sky, not the grave, is our goal; Oh trump of the angel! Oh voice of the Lord! Blessed hope, blessed rest of my soul! And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight, The clouds be rolled back as a scroll; The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend, Even so, it is well with my soul. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/It_Is_Well_With_My_Soul IGT, yoi are in my heart and prayers Cheri |

333 | Why do people like to accuse me? | Bible general Archive 3 | skccab | 188936
Hi Vincent, This is not so much bilbical as the others who have answered you, but people-based. Sadly, many Christians also fall into this category. People love to point out the faults of others, it makes them feel superior (they don't realize that they could not see the fault in you if it was not in them as well). Just know that what ever you are (or are not) is covered by the precious blood of our Lord Jesus. You were judged by the blood of Jesus the day you made Him your Lord and Savior - and the Good News is that you were found "not guilty!" The Father sees you in Jesus as whole and complete, a new creation. Keep on praying, keep on believing. blessings in Jesus cheri |

335 | Whose Heavenly Father is GOD? | Bible general Archive 3 | skccab | 189916
Hi Little Butch, There are many more knowledgeable than myself on this forum but let me get you started here: Exod. 4:22-23 is the first place I can think of where God speaks of Himself as Father. Exo 4:22 And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh: Thus saith the LORD: Israel is My son, My first-born. Exo 4:23 And I have said unto thee: Let My son go, that he may serve Me; and thou hast refused to let him go. Behold, I will slay thy son, thy first-born.' - So, it looks like it began with the Hebrews (being the Chosen people), but is all inclusive. God is the Creator of all, therefore, He is the Heavenly Father of all, even those who don't know Him. Stand in His Grace Cheri |

336 | Whose heavenly Father is God (Restated) | Bible general Archive 3 | skccab | 189992
Hi Little Butch, As far as I can see, God the Father, had His purpose in the Israelites. He was not known in a personal way by the other peoples of the day, they worshipped idols and whatever else struck their fancy. Jehovah was doing a work in His people that would culminate in Messiah. Where it impacted His people and His promises to them He would reveal Himself to some outside of His nation, but we are not given that much information. How they perceived Him, how they spoke to Him, we don't know (or I haven't found it yet). I find that the Old Testament is God's story of His people's journey to that upper room on the day of Pentecost (and for anyone who is not of the Jewish heritage - it has become our story too). I'm very new to all this. But it appears to me that that is one of the things Jesus did. He showed to all who would see that God is not far away, He is ever as near as a Father's heart can be. Deu 18:18; Jn. 8:28; Job 9:32-33; 1Tim. 2:5; Col. 1:20-21; Isa. 59:16; Mat. 10:32; Rom. 5:10; 2Cor. 5:18-21 There are actual scriptures that state that God is no longer afar off, but I cannot find them. I know someone else on this forum will be able to provide them for you. But I pray this will get you started on your search. There will be others here who will supply more information for you. cheri |

337 | Why the NKJV over the NASB ? | Bible general Archive 3 | skccab | 190117
God's morning to you Hank, I'm right with you. I love the KJV, it just has such power in the way it reads. I have just decided to trust all the SBF's opinions about the NASB and put alot of hard earned money into one. I'm praying I won't be disappointed, but I keep going back to my KJV! I just can't shelf it. Blessings Cheri |

338 | Why the NKJV over the NASB ? | Bible general Archive 3 | skccab | 190148
Thanks Hank, I had already gotten it when I wrote the note before. But I'm not disappointed, it's good. Still can't put the old KJV aside though :-). His Word is always good. cheri |

339 | Why the NKJV over the NASB ? | Bible general Archive 3 | skccab | 190153
Hank, You're funny, you make me laugh. I'm glad to hear your Books are so well behaved. My major problem is that I take mine with me EVERYWHERE, and my purse is only so big :-). My new NASB is bigger than KJV and has sneaked out of my purse several times now (not nearly as well-behaved as yours!). Love ya Hank! Cheri |

340 | Recognize loved ones in heaven | Bible general Archive 3 | skccab | 190842
Yes, Thank you Doc for that note. You always hear of your loved ones in heaven praying for you, but I had always had one problem with that. And that was if our loved ones could see us from heaven then that might cause pain and the Bible tells us there should no longer be pain or tears. But your note help clear that problem right up! Thank you again. cheri |
