404 | Christians Demon Plagued? | Mark 16:17 | skccab | 205659
Hiya Tam, I don't dispute the Holy Spirit was indeed working in OT but Messiah said himself that if He didn't "go away the comforter would not come" so I don't see Peter or the ancient saints having the Holy Spirit ALL the time as we do. Salvation comes from the blood of the Sacrifice Lamb, the blood had not yet been spilled. Peter was saved in that he most likely partook of the sacrificial system. But the salvation provided by Messiah had yet to be fulfilled. The ancient saints were saved by trust in the Promise of what Messiah would do and we get saved by trust in what Messiah did do. Peter would be of the first group. Like I said it's a very easy thing to blurt out what satan may speak in your ear!! If you said that she got healed, I missed that part and pardon me. If you didn't, don't rail on me if it wasn't a medical problem after all. You asked. :-) Shalom Cheri |

405 | Praise Dance Wrong Worship? | Ps 149:3 | skccab | 205655
Shalom again Tam I love it!! It's soooo much fun. And the anointing just falls as everyone joins in, either in the dance itself or in the playing of the tambourines and shofars! It's joy unspeakable. My fellowship doesn't have a "dance team" like most Messianic congregations do, and we only have 1 evening a month where we have live music and dance but we sure do dance to the Lord on that night!! (Just a side note: we do Jewish folk dances, dances that actually have steps to follow - not just shaking this that or the other :-) http://www.youtube.com/watch(question mark)v(equals)4GBAqLXQnAw(ampersand)feature(equals)related This is just a youtube of a messianic congregations dance team. I enjoy watching this, hope you do too. Now you got 6cents total!! it's adding up girl Cheri |

406 | Christians Demon Plagued? | Mark 16:17 | skccab | 205651
Tamara, Are you talking about Peter's denial? And/or about when he told Messiah that He would not die (that scene, I don't remember too well)? If either of those, then remember that Peter was NOT sealed with the Holy Spirit, that didn't happen till after the resurrection, and his salvation was not effected till the death and resurrection of Messiah, either. I don't have any scriptures, just a little common sense - there is a BIG difference between just blurting out something that Satan may put in your mind and doing an action (especially one that you would normally NOT do) that he has put in your mind. From your post, you said "He never said she was possesed, he said she was demon plagued and that the demon had to be cast out of her in the name of Jesus before her sanity returned to her." Your friend totally contradicted himself didn't he? You can't cast something out that is not inside of you, can you? Maybe this lady just needs to be checked out medically, Late on-set Turetz? maybe? Another 2cents worth, wowee if I keep on you're gonna be a wealthy lady Tam!! Cheri |

Shalom to you, John Thank you for the encouragement. Yes, I am enjoying my studies for sure!! This may be one of Deut. 29:29's things. Seen and hidden? The fact that as far as the Word goes He fulfilled what was needed - and we believe this. Yes? so whether or not that is the way it worked is really neither here nor there as far as the BIG question goes - which is DID HE DO IT? The amazing unfathomable answer is YES, HE DID!! :-) Cheri |

408 | Idiom? | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 205645
Hiya Tam Fri am day 1 fri pm night 1 sat am day 2 sat pm night 2 sun am day 3 where is night 3 doesn't Messiah say "as Jonah was...three days and three nights in the belly...so shall the Son of man be..."? or am I remembering that wrong? But my main understanding is in the Fri part this was considered a sabbath - the first and last days of Unleavened Bread are sabbaths - not 7th day sabbaths where absolutely no work is to be done but sabbaths, festive sabbaths where some work (such as preparing the meal, cleaning a bit for guests) could be done - but the major things to not do on a 7th day sabbath would still hold true, such as not doing your livelyhood job, not touching a corpse, etc. So, I personally, have to reconcile that. Sure Tam I'll be glad to. Weds 13th (we'll say 7pm is sundown) so 7pm becomes (to the Jews as good as) Thu this seudah maphashket is eaten by firstborns to commerorate the ones who were in danger on that first Passover. During the evening of Weds 13th into early morning Thurs 14th Messiah is betrayed, tried, found guilty and crucified (that around 9ish). Approx 3pm Thurs 14th He dies. (Also around 3pm on this day the passover lambs are actually slaughtered, what timing, huh?) Thurs 14th 7pm becomes the new day, Feast of Matza, and a festive sabbath Thurs 7pm begins Night 1 Fri 5am (this is our sunrise time :-) ) begins Day 1 Fri 7pm begins Night 2 Sat 5am begins Day 2 Sat 7pm begins Night 3 Sun 5am begins Day 3 On this do we know what time He actually arose? I don't know if we do, is why I'm asking. It is agreed by most that Jews consider any part of a day as a day - so there you have it. I think this is possible? The main thing though IS that He DID die and rise again and ascended to the right hand of the Father to ever intercede for me and you and all of us. Cheri |

P.S. I forgot to add one thing, important thing: The reason the Galilean firstborn would eat this meal at the beginning of Passover day is because they would fast during Passover - according to that tractate anyway. :-) Cheri |

Hi Tamara, Could I add my 2cents in here? In the Mishna Tractate Pesahim there is comment on Galilean "tradition" to the observance of Passover; it's called seudah maphashket which actually means "last supper." The Galilean firstborn sons would eat this pseudo (spell?) Passover meal the first hour of Passover (the one in question would be Weds night 5-7pm ish). If this is what took place then work the days amd the math and everything works out exactly as recorded in the gospels, right down to the fact that the next day the 15th (or 7ish on Thur evening) is the beginning of Matza and that is also considered a "festival sabbath" (Lev. 23:5-7) with many of the same do's and don't's as the 7th day sabbath, (such as handling a corpse, so that alone should give us pause to think, if they buried Him on Fri it was still considered a sabbath????). Just as the Galileans had their traditions, so did the Judean and Samaritan Jews, and probably each group knew of the others' traditions and that might be why it is not mentioned in detail in the gospels, cos they were Galilean Jews writing to mostly other Jews about a Galilean Jew. I, myself, don't know if this is the way it was or not, (I don't subscribe 100 percent to it but I don't throw it off as not a possibility, either). It is food for some thought. You think? Cheri |

414 | is it's possible to stop the will of God | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 205429
Shalom Silasfirst, See Gen. 18:20-19:29 where Abraham pleads for the righteous that might be found in Sodom and Gomorrah. And Exod. 32:7-14 where Moses pleads for Israel as a whole. (I love the way God tells Moses "YOUR people" where they had always been "My people" up to this point!!) There is one other time that God was going to destroy Israel and Moses intercedes but I can't remember where it is. Anyone? Cheri |

416 | Mistaken View Or False Doctrine? | Eph 1:13 | skccab | 205351
Hi Lionheart, and God's shalom to you! How very sweet of you to say that! Forgive me for taking so long to get back to you - been a very busy day. I agree with you, for sure. I think baptism got in the mix simply because people just seem to want to make what is so simple so very difficult and convoluted. Isn't it sad, that it is just human nature to want to earn something and not be beholden to anyone? How we could possibly think we could, in any way, earn what God so graciously FREELY gave us is beyond me, too! But, again, I don't think that it's of malicious intent, just misguided, misunderstanding of the Truth. Just teaching what they were taught by those who received the same teaching, etc. Cheri |

417 | Mistaken View Or False Doctrine? | Eph 1:13 | skccab | 205293
Shalom, Yes, I noticed that I missed that part (I'm at work, which is a pretty good excuse for being scatter-brained, this time anyeay, lol). So, since you asked, it sounds like just mistaken views to me. I see false doctrines as usually being malicious for one reason or another and these just sound like mistakes because they don't deter from that which is necessary, nor do they line someone's pockets with believers hard earned money. Although, I'm not so sure about the tarrying at the altar one - that could really put a stumbling block in front of a fervent believer. It probably wouldn't be for malicious purposes but it could still prove to be disastrous, in more ways than one! (I was one of those that got told that some 30 years ago!) Again, just my opinion. Cheri |

418 | Mistaken View Or False Doctrine? | Eph 1:13 | skccab | 205285
Good morning Tam, Glad to see someone else up at this hour!! Question: Do you believe that salvation is the same for all involved? At any given time? Including the saints of old, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, David, etc? If so, then those 3 senarios must prove false. Those men (and unnamed ladies) never received baptism as prescribed in the gospels or letters. They partook of cleansing, purification rituals but the two rituals are a bit different and performed for different reasons. Also, because churches now, most often, have classes people attend prior to baptism, you have to think about the ones who get saved and then must wait a week, a month, or more before baptism - what about if they have a fatal accident before baptism? I believe they are as saved as you and I. As far as your friends bearing good fruit, that would be expected because they are true believers. If they got baptized thinking that was a part of their salvation "requirements", it wouldn't annul the part that truly was required, i.e., repent and believe. Repent and believe in the Lord. That and that alone is what saves. Nothing more, nothing less, and nothing else. Just my 2cents worth :-) Shalom Cheri |

419 | Why can't I speak in tongues yet ? | Acts | skccab | 204296
Shalom Joann, Doc is certainly right, you most likely have been taught wrongly. I know that I was taught that speaking in tongues was the ONLY sign of baptism of the Holy Spirit. But in Torah (I'm sorry, I donlt know exactly where, and my Bible has been packed away for vacation), when God took of the Spirit that was on Moses and distributed it to the 70 elders who were to help him, my bible says that they prophesied (not spoke in tongues or unknown utterances), that one time, and that one time only So now we have 2 different signs of the Holy Spirit. And how about the 3pack a day smoker who, without thought or effort suddenly no longer lights up. Or the one who could put a football locker room to shame by their foul mouth suddenly, also without thought or effort on their part, their language is totally cleaned up. I think the sealing of the Holy Spirit is different with each individual as God sees fit. Which is what everyone else has been telling you. Just live you life to glorify the Lord in all you do and what He has planned for you will happen just as He wants it to, in His time. Meanwhile, relax, and enjoy the journey. :-) Cheri |

420 | Gotta draw on your memory, Doc :-) | 2 Cor 6:16 | skccab | 204291
Shalom Doc, good morning I could have sworn that I already responded but I don't see it! Mysterious, indeed. I started using a new bible recently so I was working with that list you so graciously shared with us last year when I noticed those first 2 passages. I was ready to feel really not bright when you explained the connection to me that I just couldn't see. Glad to know the ol' girl's just as sharp as ever, wow! I can spot an error!! :-) Thanks for getting back to me so quickly with the correction. Much appreciated. Cheri |
