1061 | Is Extreme Metal appropriate? | 1 Corinthians | prayon | 144564
Greetings delight in light, I agree with what the others have said. We are instructed to be in line with whatever is true and nobel and right. There is a saying that I truly believe: WHATEVER YOU GIVE YOUR ATTENTION TO YOU CONFORM TO. WHATEVER YOU CONFORM TO YOU BECOME. Even though you truly believe that the words are having no effect on you - you are being deceived. The bad part is that once you realize it there will be such a distance between you and God that it will be hard to repair. Satan works in very subtle ways. I work with an organization that puts on Christian concerts. I have worked at a lot of "extreme metal" Christian concerts. Believe it or not I have even been in the mosh pits at these concerts. There are quite a few bands that I am sure you would enjoy listening to that have positive lyrics to them that honor and praise our Savior. May I recommend Dead Poetic, Norma Jean or the Chariot? Remember seek and you will find. prayon |

1062 | Is Extreme Metal appropriate? | 1 Corinthians | prayon | 144669
LOL! It is about the same now that I think of it. I would further add that it is more akin to wrestling a pig in a pig sty tht is so full you couldn't put another pig in it! The ONLY reason I end up in them is because I head security for a ministry that puts on Christian concerts and I go in there to help keep things them under control. I guess you can imagine they looks I get when theu see "grandma" in the mosh pit! prayon |

1063 | Corinthians vs. Isaiah | 1 Cor 2:9 | prayon | 146981
Greetings Terib, When Paul spoke these words he adapted them to speak of direct revelation of God imparted to his apostles and prophets and pertaining to mysteries hidden from mankind before the birth of the church. (MacArthur Study Bible) prayon
1064 | Why did my mom die? | 1 Cor 2:9 | prayon | 175041
Greetings Vince, Some years ago I lost my best friend and her 5 year old son to a drunk driver. I was angry and suffered a long time because I just couldn't understand why she and her son died so young. One day God finally revealed this to me. He reminded me that He is omnipotent. He can see what lies ahead for each of us. He also reminded me that I did not know what pain and suffering would of laid ahead for her in her life that because of her death she is now spared of. As a nurse I will assume that there were medical problems that caused you to go home to live with her and that she was in the hospital for. Rest in the fact that she is now spared from any further physical suffering and she rests in the arms of Jesus where there is no suffering or pain but only pure joy. In every situation I always try to look for a blessing even when it seems that there are none. However, I have found that if I look hard enough there is always one there - there is one in this situation too. with Christ's love, prayon |

1065 | I fed you with milk, not solid food. | 1 Cor 3:2 | prayon | 33481
Paul was calling the Corinthians infants in the Christian life. When you feed an infant you do not feed them regular food but instead feed them milk until their systems are readly to handle regular food. prayon
1066 | If any man destroys the temple | 1 Cor 3:16 | prayon | 55479
Greetings new creature, In my bible there is a footnote that says that these verses are a severe warning to any one who would try to interfere with or destroy the building of the church on the foundation of Christ. Since the body of Christ is the church possible it means that no one should try to defile the church body. prayon
1067 | Steward of the mysteries of God? | 1 Cor 4:1 | prayon | 1957
A steward is an overseer of something, it can also be a person who is entrusted with the caretaking of something that is not his own whether it is a house, a task, business affairs or in a metaphorical sense in relation to the divine mysteries as referred to in 1 Corinthians 4:1. The mysteries you are referring to are the secrets of the bible that are hidden or beyond human understanding. There are many things that we are told about in the bible that have not happened such as the time of Jesus return. It is all of these mysteries that are told of in the bible we are are "stewards" over.
1068 | Attitude? | 1 Cor 4:1 | prayon | 2033
I believe we should have an attitude of awe, respect, thanksgiving, and joyous celebration. God's mysteries are His words to us. They are what our salvation is based on. We should care for all of His word deeply, holding it close to our hearts. We should do our best to see that it is not twisted or put down. We should guard what has been entrusted to us with our lives if need be. We should be ready to share at all times as He instructed us to do. We should be stewards over His word as He would do Himself.
1069 | Aren't all believers stewards? | 1 Cor 4:1 | prayon | 2034
Dear wdc, Thank you for expanding on the mystery of the gospel. Do you believe I am wrong to believe that all believers are stewards over His gospel? Every believer has the job to share the gospel with those who need to hear it, not just those who preach. Wouldn't they too be considered stewards?
1070 | Aren't all believers stewards? | 1 Cor 4:1 | prayon | 112000
Greetings and welcome to the forum, I was able to find 3 of them for you but I can't seem to locate the other. Below these 3 are some possibles. 1Co 16:19 The churches in the province of Asia greet you. Aquila and Prisca and the church that meets in their house send their warmest Christian greetings. . Col 4:15 Greet our brothers and sisters in Laodicea, especially Nympha and the church that meets in her house. Phm 1:2 our sister Apphia, our fellow soldier Archippus, and the church that meets in your house. One of them would be where Eutychus was sitting in the window and fell out while Paul was preaching or at Cornelius' house. A third possible could be the prison guard that was converted after the earthquake at the jail. Another could be Lydia's house, Hope this helps, prayon |

1072 | Gambling reference on the bible | 1 Cor 4:2 | prayon | 175154
Greetings dyustlucky and welcome to the forum! I can not find any mention of gambling in the bible. However, the bible refers to addictions throughout the bible. Gambling is a well documented addiction. Addictions are inevitably placed before God which is a sin. Also with this tpye of addiction finances come to mind. We are commanded by God to be good stewards of our finances. I do not believe that gambling falls under being good stewards. Here are some scriptures that deal with gambling: Gen 3:19 2Thes 3:10 2Corin 12:14 1Cor 6:12; 10:31 Col 3:2,5,6 Rom 12:1 Exo 20:15,17 Hope this helps. prayon |

1074 | What does God say about lesbians? | 1 Cor 6:9 | prayon | 66150
Greetings Protestant, "Thou shall not lie with mankind as with womankind: it is an abomination." (Lev 18:22) If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman both of them have sone what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads." Lev 20:13 Whether it is man with man or woman with woman there is no difference. God clearly states here that to Him it is detestable and an abomination (which is one of the strongest words God uses). But as Gloryrain states although God hates the sin He still loves the sinner. prayon |

1076 | GOD and Paul | 1 Cor 7:1 | prayon | 172929
Greetings corin, Paul had been speaking what the Lord revealed to him prior to this statement. This time however he states "I (not the Lord) say to the rest of you". The directions he was about to give Jesus had not spoken directly about or was there anything written in the scriptures that addressed the question he had been asked, However we need to remember that the Spirit lived in Paul and it would probably be a good assumption that he was speaking from divine inspiration (1Co 7:6 But I speak this according to permission, not according to commandment). Indeed marriage is a great blessing to mankind. Our nature is fleshly and marriage can protect us from the sins of lust and fornication - there lies part of the blessing! And No! NO! and NO again - our spirituality is not determined by our marital status. Hope this helps. prayon |

1077 | can you divorce from lack of love | 1 Cor 7:10 | prayon | 19315
Greetings cowslips, "To the married I give this command (not I, but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband. But if she does she must remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband. And a husband must not divorce his wife. (1Cor 7:10-11) And Mark 10:11-12 tells us that if either spouse divorces their husband/wife and marries another they commit adultry. Matthew 5:32 tells us, however, that if fornication is the cause the above does not apply. prayon
1078 | can i marry a divorced protastant? | 1 Cor 7:10 | prayon | 19320

1080 | Staying together before marriage. | 1 Cor 8:9 | prayon | 128058
Greetings Jeremy, I agree with the others - but I wanted to add another verse that I believe is important to consider: Mat 5:27-28 "You have heard that it was said, Never commit adultery. But I can guarantee that whoever looks with lust at a woman has already committed adultery in his heart." You don't have to commit the act of fornication to have commited the sin - thoughts of fornication are sin in the eyes of our Lord. I also want to make an observation. Since you thought the question important enough to ask on the forum could it possibly be that your heart is convicting you that it it wrong? prayon |
