41 | Understand Hagar and Sarah illustration? | Gal 4:21 | philemcc | 77378
That is what the Bible says!!! Abraham, not waiting on God, trying to have the son He promised, by his own efforts. Gal 4:24 These things are illustrations, for the women represent the two covenants. One is from Mount Sinai and bears children into slavery--this is Hagar There are two promises of reconciliation from God Eph 2:12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: One is by obeying the Law the other by faith philemcc |

42 | Know How He Has Purposed You In Him | Eph 1:1 | philemcc | 79085
Let me add that there is a wide gap from where we were…. Rom 3: 10As it is written: "There is no one righteous, not even one; 11there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God. 12All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one." To where we are…. Rom 5: 1Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. And how we can be living….. Heb 11: 15If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. 16Instead, they were longing for a better country--a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them. philemcc |

43 | whole armour and significance | Eph 6:13 | philemcc | 76453
The significance of this armor is that it is spiritual, the battle is not against flesh and blood. While which piece covers which part would be helpful to meditate on I do not believe it is important in understanding the protection each piece provides. Phil |

44 | Disciplerami, I have a question | James 2:19 | philemcc | 78949
Disciplerami, I have a question The Jew’s, according to the notes in this verse in John, “They answered him, "We are Abraham's descendants[ 8:33 Greek seed; also in verse 37] and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?"” considered themselves to be Abraham’s seed. Now according to, “ Gal 3: 28There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.” We are Abraham’s seed. In a previous post you wrote, “If you believe men are depraved, then you have to believe that the Cross of Jesus Christ and the Glory of Creation are ineffectual at changing anyone. The only change possible, according to such types, is with a miraculous intervention at an elected time in the person's life. That is if you believe the other side.” Now my question is this, when did I or you become Abraham’s seed? When we were first born or during a miraculous intervention at an elected time in our lives? philemcc |

45 | Belief in God? | James 2:19 | philemcc | 78991
Let me add to the discussion, these people had knowledge of and a belief in God….. Mat 7: 22Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' 23Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!' What was the difference between them and Abraham whose faith resulted in His righteousness….. Gal 3: 6Consider Abraham: "He believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness." philemcc |

47 | DESCRIBE THE FALLING ANGELS AND HYBREDS | 1 John 4:1 | philemcc | 78052
They are called evil spirits: 1 John 4:1 My dear friends, do not believe all who claim to have the Spirit, but test them to find out if the spirit they have comes from God. For many false prophets have gone out everywhere. 2 This is how you will be able to know whether it is God's Spirit: anyone who acknowledges that Jesus Christ came as a human being has the Spirit who comes from God. 3 But anyone who denies this about Jesus does not have the Spirit from God. The spirit that he has is from the Enemy of Christ; you heard that it would come, and now it is here in the world already. 4 But you belong to God, my children, and have defeated the false prophets, because the Spirit who is in you is more powerful than the spirit in those who belong to the world. 5 Those false prophets speak about matters of the world, and the world listens to them because they belong to the world. 6 But we belong to God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever does not belong to God does not listen to us. This, then, is how we can tell the difference between the Spirit of truth and the spirit of error. philemcc |

48 | The 3 witnesses of 1 John 5:7-8? | 1 John 5:16 | philemcc | 78931
His miraculous birth – the water His miraculous death – the blood His resurrection -- the Spirit This is God’s testimony which he has given about His Son. When we believe this testimony than, this is the victory that has overcome the world. 1 John 5: 10Anyone who believes in the Son of God has this testimony in his heart. Anyone who does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because he has not believed the testimony God has given about his Son. This is how I understand the meaning here philemcc |

49 | Searching for the truth | Rev 1:1 | philemcc | 77949
Rev 21:1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea existed no longer. 2 I also saw the Holy City, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared like a bride adorned for her husband. 3 Then I heard a loud voice from the throne: Look! God's dwelling is with men, and He will live with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God. 4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will exist no longer; grief, crying, and pain will exist no longer, because the previous things have passed away. 5 Then the One seated on the throne said, "Look! I am making everything new." He also said, "Write, because these words are faithful and true." 6 And He said to me, "It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give to the thirsty from the spring of living water as a gift. 7 The victor will inherit these things, and I will be his God, and he will be My son. 8 But the cowards, unbelievers, vile, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars--their share will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death." philemcc |

51 | Jesus' Physical Description | Rev 1:12 | philemcc | 77948
Rev 1: 12 I turned to see the voice that was speaking to me. When I turned I saw seven gold lampstands, 13 and among the lampstands was One like the Son of Man, dressed in a long robe, and with a gold sash wrapped around His chest. 14 His head and hair were white like wool--white as snow, His eyes like a fiery flame, 15 His feet like fine bronze fired in a furnace, and His voice like the sound of cascading waters. 16 In His right hand He had seven stars; from His mouth came a sharp two-edged sword; and His face was shining like the sun at midday. 17 When I saw Him, I fell at His feet like a dead man. He laid His right hand on me, and said, "Don't be afraid! I am the First and the Last, 18 and the Living One. I was dead, but look--I am alive forever and ever, and I hold the keys of death and Hades. philemcc |

53 | One save always saved? | Rev 3:5 | philemcc | 78788
Hear are just a few verses dealing with salvation, they have been used to both support and reject eternal salvation, it would seem some are more interested in their opinions than the truth. Psalm 111: 9 He provided redemption for his people; he ordained his covenant forever- holy and awesome is his name. 10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise. Phil 2: 12Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed--not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence--continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, 13for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose. 1 John2: 24See that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you. If it does, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father. Heb 6: 4It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, 5who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age, 6if they fall away, to be brought back to repentance, because to their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace. Gal 5: 2Mark my words! I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you at all. 3Again I declare to every man who lets himself be circumcised that he is obligated to obey the whole law. 4You who are trying to be justified by law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace. 2 Pet 1: 8For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9But if anyone does not have them, he is nearsighted and blind, and has forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins. 10Therefore, my brothers, be all the more eager to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never fall, 11and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Rom 8: 35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36As it is written: "For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered." philemcc |

54 | How does eternal security build faith? | Rev 3:5 | philemcc | 78817
Radioman, I agree with everything you have just written, but what does this message convey? If a deacon, pastor, preacher, priest, bishop or pope tells me that I am saved and can not loss my salvation no matter what, where does the Fear of the Lord come in and the need for trust. What is the meaning of this passage in Psalm 107 23 Others went out on the sea in ships; they were merchants on the mighty waters. 24 They saw the works of the LORD , his wonderful deeds in the deep. 25 For he spoke and stirred up a tempest that lifted high the waves. 26 They mounted up to the heavens and went down to the depths; in their peril their courage melted away. 27 They reeled and staggered like drunken men; they were at their wits' end. 28 Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distress. 29 He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed. 30 They were glad when it grew calm, and he guided them to their desired haven. 31 Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men. 32 Let them exalt him in the assembly of the people and praise him in the council of the elders. Many of the Saints in the Bible lived through periods of uncertainty in their lives and questioned what God was doing. Rather than, “once saved always saved,” I chose to remember, “I will never leave you or forsake you.” Maybe just another point of view…. philemcc |

55 | How does eternal security build faith? | Rev 3:5 | philemcc | 78947
Gracefull (sounds like a name from pilgrims progress) We are splitting hairs here, I agree that we as the children of God should not live in fear, but I also know that fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. My problem with the doctrine of eternal security is its misuse, not that it does not provide security for the believer. The church is warned about false prophets and teachers in 1 Timothy, 2 Peter, 1 John, Jude and Revelations. In Ephesians we are told to put on the full armor of God so that you can take you stand against the devil’s schemes. My concerns is the same as Paul’s in …. Gal 4: 8Formerly, when you did not know God, you were slaves to those who by nature are not gods. 9But now that you know God--or rather are known by God--how is it that you are turning back to those weak and miserable principles? Do you wish to be enslaved by them all over again? 10You are observing special days and months and seasons and years! 11I fear for you, that somehow I have wasted my efforts on you…. 17Those people are zealous to win you over, but for no good. What they want is to alienate you from us, so that you may be zealous for them. Now I understand that these verses could be used to argue either point of view, that we are eternally secure and need to add nothing to the Gospel or that we could loose everything we have gained by adding works. I think the answer is the clear teaching of the truth which includes the dangers and pitfalls of false teaching. And endless debate over which position is right serves no purpose and I am now asking myself why I responded to your post since I basically agree with what you said. philemcc |
