42 | At what moment do we go to heaven? | Eccl 12:7 | kw5kw | 155690
Greetings Tim: Just to let you know, My user id: kw5kw is an amateur radio call sign. Using amateur radio, I have indeed talked to the space shuttle. As a matter of fact, both the shuttle and I were using what we call a hand held unit that only transmits a maximum of 5 watts, but that was all that was necessary since it was line of sight. However, the truth is, I have indeed talked to the space shuttle. Not this last one, it has been several years ago now, but once is enough to make it true. Good tidings to you Tim, Russ |

43 | At what moment do we go to heaven? | Eccl 12:7 | kw5kw | 155691
Greetings Hank, Thanks for the wise words of wisdom, for I have tried to do nothing but seek such wisdom. Hopefully one of these days I will have a meer fraction of that which Soloman had. Tiz why I post seldom, but always when I do I post several in a row, then I'll read until I hit something I just HAVE to respond to. Peace with you Hank I am your brother in Christ Russ Ecc 7:25 I applied mine heart to know, and to search, and to seek out wisdom, and the reason of things, and to know the wickedness of folly, even of foolishness and madness: |

44 | At what moment do we go to heaven? | Eccl 12:7 | kw5kw | 155697
No, strictly computed and actually was scheduled into their flight plan that time. It was coordinated via AMSAT and Kieth Pugh, W5IU and Donna (forget her last name) N5WOE so that they students at one of our local elementary schools could gain some experience with both science and amateur radio. We did not get individual QSL cards, but we did get a nice write up in the Star-Telegram for the event. Check AMSAT.org for other such activities. Amateur radio has many satellites used for communications, and the shuttle (used to anyway) was routeinly used to give school students the expierence. And as for tracking, you can track almost any satellite anywhere anytime if you have the programs. I've let this area of my life lapse quite a bit, so I'm a bit rusty on the pages, but amsat.org should have the links necessary. So this expierence is just as real as it can be! Russ |

46 | Does it make more sense now? | Eccl 12:7 | kw5kw | 155703
Greetings once again Tim. Does my illustration make more sense to you now, (for I was pretty sure that you hadn't talked to the shuttle)? Not to many people have actually talked to the shuttle, but enough have done so that makes it completely believeable.) Not to many (in the past 2000 years) have talked to Jesus. 1. I HAVE talked to the Space Shuttle 2. I have NOT ridden on the shuttle. 3. You have Not talked to the shuttle. 4. You have Not ridden on the shuttle. I can explain the expierence of talking to the shuttle, and make you understand. We can both Marvle at the ride on the shuttle. Using the same illustration about an encounter with our Lord Jesus. I should be able to make you understand that I have had an experience that you haven't had. I should be able to make you understand that indeed I have had that experience and what that experience was like. Does that make sense now? I think the big problem here is the impersonal internet. You don't know me from Adam (although I do have a belly button.) (JOKE) Therefore you don't know my intentions. I assure you sir, that my intentions are 100 per cent honorable. email me and I'll give you a phone number that you can call and we can talk and get to know each other. Your Brother in Christ, Russ |

48 | Does it make more sense now? | Eccl 12:7 | kw5kw | 155734
Oh, you bet they do. If there is a ham on board that is. Most astronauts are hams so most of the time there is a ham radio on board. No, all I'm trying to say, I think that would make a really cool sermon illustration. Much like Spurgeon's Niagara Falls and the rope... Sermon # 107 "Faith". Russ |

49 | Did God create evil? | Is 45:7 | kw5kw | 178835
The post uses cold, one can also use light/dark as the illustration. One can measure light, how intense, what color, what wavelength but one can't measure dark. One can see the good in God and when one is seperated from good one is un-good or evil. Therefore evil is the seperation from good, just as dark is the seperation from light and cold is the seperation from heat. While evil does happen evil was not a creation by God, evil happened when Satan rebelled against God and has continued ever since. Good post. Russ |

51 | Can the Hubble measure the universe? | Jer 31:37 | kw5kw | 141852
Now that N.A.S.A.'s Hubble space telescope can see a long ways off... http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ap040309.html ... what are we to think of this verse? (Please look at the link, before you respond.) I am not saying that I'm pro-science. I am very much a creation beleiving Christian. But facts are facts and we need not to totally ignore them. We need the wisdom to make use of this knowledge. Is this another indicator that we're nearing the end of times? After all God gave this verse to Jeremiah for some reson. |

53 | is masterbation bad | Matt 5:27 | kw5kw | 141899
Yes masturbation is a sexual sin. Ephesians 5:3 “But among you there must not be either sexual immorality, impurity of any kind, or greed, as these are not fitting for the saints.” (Net Bible) Ephesians 5:3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; (KJV) Ephesians 5:3 But immorality or any impurity or greed must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints; (NASB) Ephesians 5:3 But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people. (NIV) This is the major verse that says masturbation is a sin! I have given you four examples from four different translations. I like the way they all say it, but the NIV really puts it into words that mortal man can understand the best because that version says … “holy people.” I think if we’re saved then we become Holy. (Lets save this for another thread, ok guys, don’t jump on me for not posting a scripture reference about this here, I’m concentrating on sexual impurity here, thanks anyway for thinking about it though.). For Jesus said in Matthew 5:26 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Do not commit adultery.’ 27 “But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” (NIV) This says anything that gives you the hint of thinking of taking a woman (or man for that matter) to bed is a sin. What else is masturbation? You just don’t have that object of your sexual desire to consummate the act, so you improvise. You have sinned according to God’s law. I want to let you know that you are not alone in this. Most men have done this. I’ll admit that I have. I knew that it was a sin. I was pointed to a book by God. I picked this book up several times in the Christian bookstore that I now frequent. Finally, while watching Charles Stanley one Sunday morning he was doing the a series on the “Landmines in the Path of the Believer” This one was the first one on pride. It caused me to go to his web site and do an expanded study of his word. The whole series was there and there is one on Landmines in the Path of the Believer: Part Four - Sexual Sins . I opened the link and started reading. There he reverences the same book that I’d picked up and put back down several times. “Every Man’s Battle” by Stephen Arterburn. I read this page with zeal. I went out and purchased the book, and read it in two and a half days. For you see I had the same problem you stated you have. I have learned thru proper scripture listed in the book, how to avoid any temptations in the modern world. I wish I had that book with me, but I left it at home, and I’m at work writing this to you. 1 Corinthians 6:13 “… The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.” This is very true. Learn how to not look at a woman for anything but a person, not as an object of sexual desire. Remember Matthew 5:26-27 once again. If you even look at a woman lustfully, then you are sinning. Don’t see a woman and take a ‘free peek’ down her blouse, it’s a sin. Don’t open a door for a woman so that you might watch her walk, that’s a sin. Open the door to be courteous, then look away. Look at the floor, look at the ceiling, don’t watch her ‘wiggle’. If the Coors twins come on during the NFL game you’re watching, don’t look, change the channel for 60 seconds. Don’t watch shows like “Desperate Housewife’s” that are full of sexual content, watch a religious station instead. Don’t pick up a Playboy, or any magazine similar to or worse than, for any reason. Avoid sexual web sites and binary newsgroups, as they will lead to eternal damnation. Romans 13:13 “Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy.” (NIV) Yes, by all means live a pure life, it can be done. I’ve learned to not look at a woman in a lustful nature. I don’t pick up the newspaper’s Sunday morning papers ads any more, you’ll understand after you read the book (“Every Man’s Battle”) about this. Lets look at Galatians 5:19: Here Paul states what the sins are, you notice what’s first “The acts of the sinful nature are obvious, sexual immorality,…” and if you can 1 Thessalonians 5:22 “Avoid every kind of evil.” Then you can start on your way to redemption. God will help you through this problem. You can stop, you will stop, as I will pray for you. As stated in Titus 2: 11” For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. 12 It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age.” Amen. I hope this will help you, Your brother in Christ, Russ |

54 | Is living with a married person adultry? | Matt 5:27 | kw5kw | 141935
Hello and welcome to the forum. I'm sad and unhappy for you my dear as my mother came from a broken home, and I came from a broken home as well. I have tried extra hard to commit to my wife, even though I falterd myself, my wife has 'stuck by me' like flies on flypaper. Thank God and Jesus. My wife and I have been married for 33 1/2 years now. For Jesus said in Matthew 5:26 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Do not commit adultery.’ 27 “But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” (NIV) and unfortunatelly it's very true. Paul states in Galatians 5:19: what the sins are, you notice what’s first “The acts of the sinful nature are obvious, sexual immorality,…” Now in Matthew 19:9 Jesus says: "Now I say to you that whoever divorces his wife, except for immorality, and marries another commits adultery.” (Net Bible) (( other version have the word fornication in place of immorality here.)) (((I'm going to say that you could swap genders here and be ok. ))) In the Gospel of Mark Jesus says: 10:9 "...So they are no longer two, but one flesh. 10:9 Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.” Now, we go back to Matthew; 5:31 “It was said, ‘Whoever divorces his wife must give her a legal document.’ 5:32 But I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except for immorality (fornication in other translations), makes her commit adultery, and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery. We must remember that God hates divorce (Malachi 2:16 “I hate divorce,” says the Lord God of Israel, ...) so He prefers you to stay together forever. (Deuteronomy 22:19 "... She will then become his wife and he may never divorce her as long as he lives. " In 1 Corinthans Chapter 7 Paul talkes about divorce in length concerning the belver and non-beleiver. 7:10 To the married I give this command—not I, but the Lord — a wife should not divorce a husband 7:11 (but if she does, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband), and a husband should not divorce his wife. 7:12 To the rest I say—I, not the Lord — if a brother has a wife who is not a believer and she is happy to live with him, he should not divorce her. 7:13 And if a woman has a husband who is not a believer and he is happy to live with her, she should not divorce him. 7:14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified because of the wife, and the unbelieving wife because of her husband. Otherwise your children are unclean, but now they are holy. 7:15 But if the unbeliever wants a divorce, let it take place. In these circumstances the brother or sister is not bound. God has called you in peace. 7:16 For how do you know, wife, whether you will bring your husband to salvation? Or how do you know, husband, whether you will bring your wife to salvation? 7:17 Nevertheless, as the Lord has assigned to each one, as God has called each person, so must he live. I give this sort of direction in all the churches." I would do everything in your ability to make sure that you try to salvage the marriage such as professional counceling, going to church, getting right with God. I suggest that you do all these things. Good luck and keep in touch. Your brother in Christ. Russ |

57 | where does sin begin, heart or mind? | Matt 5:27 | kw5kw | 156991
The devil tempts you thru your ear, your internal ear, your mind. He is able to communicate to you via your thoughts, just as God does. He tells you to do something, that it won't hurt. He knows the how, when, where and how of what to tempt you with, and he uses all of that knowledge against you to get you to move away from worshiping God. I know that the closer you are to God, the more time the devil spends with you. He does this to draw you away from the glory of God. To get you to sin, to get you to feel guilty about the sin(s), to tell you that God hates a sinner, and therefore God hates you. For we are not unaware of the wiles of the devil, (2Co 2:11) you need to put on the full armor of God to protect yourself. (Eph 6:11-18) No, the sin's don't begin simply upon a thought of something. For those thoughts are put there by Satan. The sin occurs when you act upon those thoughts. In Mat 5:27-28, Jesus teaches you that you can sin by lusting about a woman in your thoughts. Well, yes you can, but the simple thought is placed by none other than Satan. It is how you continue with that thought that would be the sin. Simply seeing can produce the thought, but look away saves you from the sin. The sin that would be produced in your heart. Mat 12:35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. |

"2) The Scriptures "in the original languages" do not capitalize any pronouns. If the original manuscripts did not capitalize pronouns, then WHY does anyone today feel that pronouns referring to the Deity MUST be capitalized? Why, because I think it gives the ultimate respect which is due the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. |
