Amen. Greetings, you say "I am guessing that you have had relatively few sick days, and overcome many obstacles in your Christian walk." And I say Amen! God not only saved me and added my name to the book of life, but delivered me from my addictions (alcohol and drugs), anointed me to say yes to the counsel of His will. All of my household have been saved (that's in itself is awesome), and yes, I have not experienced any sickness since receiving Christ into my life (over 2 yrs.), actually I thought this was common until I began meeting other Christians who say this is a bunch of hog wash, can you imagine that! Anyway I was reading this book called the Bible, and reading Ephesians, and when I came across Ch. 2 v.10, I gave my life to God. I was not able to walk, but I went to church and this pastor prayed for my leg, he told me not to doubt, but just believe, now I'm walking. So what do you say I should call this? Healed, receive or delievered? or a bunch of baloney :) What about those with a 'less-favorable' testimony? Do we teach them that God may or may not fullfill His promises? That was only for those in the bible? Created loop holes, just in case nothing happens? Charis, I hear you, believe me I do! I go through those valley's too, but I know also that His goodness and mercy is following me everywhere I go. I pray every day to do the will of our Father, and I do stumble, but God tells me that He will never leave me or forsake me, hey that's good enough for me. I'm challenged every day of my life, there is a accurer of the brethren, that old lying devil that doesn't want me to believe God's promises, he is after my soul, and I resist him. He'll use others to cast those thoughts too, but we (I have read this in the Word) are to cast those thoughts down. God has a purpose for my life, as yours, we were planned for God's pleasure, formed for God's family, created to be like Christ, shaped for serving God and made for a mission. Thanks for taking the time to read this, maybe I should paste it to my profile...nah, I'll get a post on that too :) God bless you as God leads you to your destiny. Edb, I'm not defending my beliefs. I'm believing in God's written Word, not with "enough faith", but with faith as small as a mustard seed :) God is not obligated to provide me with health, wealth and deliverance, He already has, we live in His completed work, what I have to do is come in agreement with His Word, with faith. The rest of what you posted is your own opinion. Gal 6:9 Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary. Gal 6:10 So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith. Hank-- Why do you and your friend keep labeling me with The Word of Faith movement. I never heard of that before until you both introduced that title here on the forum. Also, all you see is that Paul suffered, you never mention the miracles he experienced. Now you tell me, what is God going to do for you, that He hasn't already done? I never mentioned once anywhere that we as christians walk a path paved with sweetness and light, although there is no darkness in Christ. I experienced sufferings, do you think for one moment that this is coming from God, and I should say "I'm suffering for God?" With all the promises of God you want me to let that lying devil have victory over my life! Would you be crystal clear on what I'm saying, if I said, I'm on my way to heaven, I hope I make it, this road is sure rough but I'll keep remembering all those who suffered before me. It was good enough for them, so it must be good enough for me, woe is me! Anyway back to our topic about paul's suffering; "Paul suffered beatings, shipwrecks, a stoning, sleepless nights,hunger, thirst, in cold and exposure [2 Cor.11:21-33]." In those days, they dug holes in the ground outside of the city. Whenever they were to stone someone, they would push the victim into the hole. Then, a crowd would gather around the hole and throw big rocks at the person's head, until they were certain that it was completely crushed. From biblical evidence, it seems that Paul was actually dead. The timing would be about 14 years before he was to write 2 Corinthians, which would make Acts 14 the time when he died and temporarily went to heaven to see the visions mentioned in 2 Corinthians 12:2-4. Then what happened? God raised Paul from the dead right on the spot and Paul marched right back into the same city! This is why Paul had an "infirmity of the flesh" – His skull had been crushed and he was walking around looking like that. So, instead of disproving the biblical teaching on healing, this passage in Galatians demonstrates God's supernatural healing and resurrection power. Paul was walking around supernaturally with this and many other injuries. I still have to explain the phrase "you would have plucked out your own eyes, and have given them to me" (v.15). From these words, people have concluded that Paul had an eye disease. This interpretation is both irresponsible and dishonest – it had extinguished many people's hope for receiving healing from God. "Would have plucked out your own eyes" is simply an expression! Just like a "thorn in the flesh" is an expression equivalent to a "pain in the neck." You want to know what Paul believed? He believed this: "But if the Spirit of him that raised Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you" (Romans 8:11). It happened to him time and time again. Now how bad can that be! |

EdB, Thanks, and I mean this in a positive way, my understanding is mutual. God has and never will let me down. We serve the One True God, He has bought me with a price, His Son Jesus, my Savior, given me a purpose and a distiny. God rewards our faith by providing that which we believe Him for. So many times Jesus has made statements such as "according to thy faith be it unto thee" and "Thy faith has made thee whole." He has made answered prayer conditional upon faith (Mark 11:22-24; James 1:5-7; 5:14-16) and doing His works (John 14:12). God in His sovereignty has decided that He will only reward those who will believe Him. Anyone who does not believe makes God a liar and that person cannot expect to receive from God (1 John 5:10). The Bible is full of example of those who limit God from working in their lives due to unbelief (Num. 13-14; Matt. 13:58; 17:20; Heb. 3-4). It has nothing to do with God's sovereign will to bless or not bless. God, in His sovereignty, has decided to respond to FAITH and will do so because He is Holy. This does not make Him man's servant as the critics want to imply. He still requires our obedience (which is what faith is), our worship, and our reverence. Word-Faith, by no means, has delegated the Almighty One to the level of a servant. Instead, we have recognized Him as our Father with whom we obey. God bless |

John, I do not see anything what you refer to. I believe in God's promises, but there are those who, because of my belief, want to label me. When I was a child, I prayed to God. Later in life, I found out that Jesus was my Lord and Savior, and being confused, began praying to God and Jesus. Still later, I learned a little about the Holy Spirits' role in the God head and rather than leave anyone out, I prayed to all of them, still not completely sure of what I was 'supposed' to be doing. Then I got back to basics, and believed that if the word of God said it...it is good enough for me. I went back to example prayer that Jesus taught His disciples: Matthew 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven...This is WHO you are to pray to, your heavenly Father. He is the most loving of fathers; kind, gentle, friendly, interested in your life and, wants to hear all about it. He wants to hear how you feel, everything...your joys and frustrations, even all your secrets that you cannot tell anyone else. He has all the time that there is, enjoys your confidence and trust in Him and enjoys just listening to the voice of His little child. Romans 12:2 says do not conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of our mind. It's a day by day process, the more we read God's Word the more we understand what His good, acceptable and perfect will for our lives should be. God understands your needs and He is always waiting to hear from you, so make your requests be known to Him. If you were saved at 13 then you are saved now. Maturing in the Lord means for us to follow His direction for our life, He takes us from the pit that we were in to a life that will Honor Him. Somewhere in the three years of your salvation you were drawn away, but God loves and He will rescue you from your situation. I would love to dialog with you some more, but I have a responsiblity to this site, when we registered on this site we agreed to the terms, and in part this is what it states: "By registering in these areas, you are representing to The Lockman Foundation that you are at least 18 years old (or the minimum legal age in the jurisdiction in which you are viewing The Restricted Area)." There are many teen support groups in local churches, search it out and find a group that will meet your needs. Talk to your parents and if that is not possible right now, have a talk with your pastor and he may bridge the gap to connect you to your parents. Grace and Truth, I wanted to respond back to you sooner, but my computer went down. Thank you for taking the time to respond to my post. However, I'm not in total agreement on your post here. You stated that there are only three of the five ministries quoted in Ephesians 4:11. According to 1Corinthians 12:28, The Word of God says, v.28 "And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, also those able to help others, those with gifts of administration, and those speaking in different kinds of tongues."(NIV) I don't agree that the apostles and prophets have done or finished their part. The Church is still growing, still being built up, and in v.13 of Ephesians, it says, "until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ."(NIV) This seems clear to me, that the five fold ministry is still operating and will continue to operate until Our Lord returns.
