363 | Is baptism a work? | NT general Archive 1 | inmyheart | 66383
It is written, GOD IS NOT THE AUTHOR OF CONFUSION-1 Cor 14:33. There are many religions and traditions that contradict God’s Word. It was the same in the days of Jesus. Do not place your hope in a religion, but place it in the Bible. Do not follow stories that some people tell, which may cause you to err from the truth. Some say that you do not have to be baptized, because the prisoner that hung on the cross next to Jesus was not baptized. We note the command to be baptized, given in Mk 16:16 and Acts 2:38 and others, came after Jesus rose from the dead. The prisoner died before Jesus rose from the grave. How could he have been baptized into the death and resurrection of Jesus, when Jesus had not yet been buried or risen from the dead? He also died before the Holy Ghost was given. It is written: THE HOLY GHOST WAS NOT YET GIVEN-Jn 7:39; ref 20:22. Some say that Paul was not sent to baptize, and this is true; but his followers did the baptizing. Some might say because Mk 16:16 does not repeat the word baptize in the second part of the verse that it means it is not mandatory. Let’s read Mk 16:16-HE THAT BELIEVETH AND IS BAPTIZED SHALL BE SAVED; BUT HE THAT BELIEVETH NOT SHALL BE DAMNED. Some have asked why Jesus did not say, "He that believeth not and is baptized not?" The answer is, because we are baptized into the death and resurrection of Jesus. You cannot be baptized into One in whom you do not believe. Thus, to say HE THAT BELIEVETH NOT, "and is baptized not" would be incorrect. For if you do not believe on Jesus, it is not possible to be baptized into His death and resurrection. Therefore, if a person does not believe, no biblical baptism exists. Some would say that water baptism is symbolic only; thus, it is not necessary. It is far more than symbolic as the Scriptures are showing us. This is why Satan fights so hard against baptism. This is why Satan tries to cause so much confusion about water baptism and is succeeding. Some say that water baptism is not necessary as it is a form of works. Satan is a liar. Do not let him deceive you. Obey God’s Word. God bless - need more info, let me know. Blessed be the Name of our Lord. |

Come on now! You get that man of God who is in the will of God and who is prospering financally, with that house on a hill and all that goes with it, and you switch him with that man who is in the will of God, serving God in the third world country, living day by day with his pockets empty and living in a shack, I guarrantee that both of them will still magnify the One true God. We are of royality, we don't seek things of value, we put value in things! We don't need something to be somebody, we are somebody with out something. What does Jeremiah 29:11 say - I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, "plans to PROSPER you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future"... Are we not going to live to fullfill our destiny? Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the House of the Lord forever. God bless. |

365 | Is reverence feasible? Always? | Eph 5:33 | inmyheart | 66294
Mark, You quote, "However, Paul states in 1 Timothy 2:12, "But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence." But here is a instance where the woman not only wasn't silent, but spoke up and brought the whole town out to meet Jesus! :) John 4: 25 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. 26 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he. 27 And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her? 28 The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, 29 Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ? 30 Then they went out of the city, and came unto him. You also stated, "And I hope to instill that in mommapbs, Emmaus, and everyone else on the forum." Mark, this is not your purpose, that God wants to fullfill in your life. What are you going to instill in everyone on this forum that God has already done? Surely not teach the truth, I quote from the below verses; 1 John 2: 21 I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth. 22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. 23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. 24 Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father. 25 And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life. 26 These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you. 27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, AND YE NEED NOT THAT ANY MAN TEACH YOU: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. Mark, we are family, the family of God, let's speak to each other as such! God bless |

366 | Why doesn’t God just show himself to tho | Mark 11:22 | inmyheart | 66265
God has shown Himself to the world through His Son Jesus! These are a couple of verses that Christians know that are right. 2Timothy2:15, Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who "correctly" handles the word of truth. Romans 12:2, Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then "YOU" will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will. jmartin, 1 Corinthians 1:18 says, and I'm paraphrasing, that if your not saved, then the Word of God is nonsense, but if your are saved it's powerful. You are not here by accident, and you are not a mistake, God has a purpose for your life. You were created for God's pleasure, for God's family, to become like Christ, to serve God and made for a mission. John 3:16 and Roman 10:9-10, will lead you God. Why not do it now. God bless |

367 | tithing | Acts 13:39 | inmyheart | 66021
In addressing the Christians at Corinth, Paul entered more fully into the right of Christian ministers to the support of the faithful, I Corinthians 16:1, whilst to the Christians at Rome, his words on the subject of almsgiving may serve as a broad general principle for all churches. "If the Gentiles have been made partakers of their [the Christian Jews'] spiritual things, they [the Gentiles] owe it to them [the Christian Jews] also to minister unto them in carnal things," Romans 15:27. The Christians of Philippi, likewise, may be mentioned in this connection, their liberality being recognized by the apostle, who wrote that "in the beginning of the Gospel no church had fellowship with me in the matter of giving and receiving, but ye only: for even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my need," Phil.4:15-17. There were other churches where, for good reasons, Paul chose to forego personal remuneration, I Cor.9:12, but he did not thereby give up his right thereto; for, with the Corinthian Christians, he argues thus: "Have we no right to eat and to drink? . . . What soldier ever serveth at his own charges? . . . If we sowed unto you spiritual things, is it a great matter if we shall reap your carnal things? . . . Know ye not that they which minister about sacred things eat of things of the temple, and they which wait upon the altar have their portion with the altar? Even so did the Lord ordain that they which proclaim the Gospel should live of the Gospel," I Cor.9:4-14. Here the apostle seems to have in mind two sources of maintenance for the Jewish priesthood. The one probably included tithes brought to the storehouse of the temple, Nehemiah 10:37-40, and the other consisted of those portions of the sacrifices which were brought to the altar and retained by the priest, Deuteronomy 18:3, as signified by the words: "They which wait upon the altar have their portion with the altar." Some may contend, however, that the law was abrogated under the Gospel. If so, how much of the law, and in what sense? Is the law so abrogated as that we may now, at our pleasure, murder, lie, and steal? Would that all who for excuse argue that the law is abolished, and so try to evade their responsibility as to setting aside a proportion of their income for God, could be thus quickly convinced! Have we not already seen that Christ came to fulfill the law -- to confirm it to the least iota? Matthew 5:17-18, and fulfilling is the perfecting, not the destruction, of anything. Hence the payment of tithes and offerings applicable to the support of the ministry, and to other religious and charitable works, is clearly the duty of Christians, unless it can be shown that Christ repealed God's law previously promulgated. And this, as Leslie writes (Divine Right of Tithes, Toronto edition, p. 81): "He never did, but rather confirmed it by approving the tithe payments of the Pharisees, and by ordaining that they who preach the Gospel should live of the Gospel. Some would have the Gospel merely eleemosynary -- nothing due, but all freewill offerings. But was this so in the Temple? I trow not: for though there were freewill offerings, there were also tithes and other offerings, the withholding of which was counted as robbery. Moreover, if the ministers of the Temple were sure of at least a tenth, whilst the ministers of the Gospel are not sure of a hundredth part of some men's incomes, where is the truth or appropriateness of the apostle's comparison?" Besides, what was it that the Lord ordained? That every man should give just what he pleased? This men could do without any ordinance being issued to that end. That which leaves every man perfectly at his own liberty is no law at all; and if every an were left thus to act, Christ ordained what amounted to nothing. [The Rev. Richard Duke, of Stirling, Ontario, an earnest advocate of tithe-paying, in support of his conviction that the tithe law is binding upon Christians, argues thus: 1. It is a principle in jurisprudence that when the reasons which originated a law continue to operate, and there is no explicit repeal of the law, the law remains in force. And this principle appears to have the lucidity and force of an axiom . . . 2. That which passed away was the symbolical and figurative. Tithing was neither one nor the other, but a duty issuing from the moral law, which is of perpetual force. 3. True, there is no formal re-enactment of the law of the tithe. But why should such a formal re-enactment be looked for? The law had not become obsolete; it was not indifferently observed. On the contrary it was conspicuously honored in the observance. Similarly there is no formal re-enactment of the Sabbath law; but Christians recognize the law respecting the seventh of time, and by a parity of reasoning should recognize the law respecting the tenth of substance. "I also agree, your view of tithing is not a true teaching." |

368 | Are some sins greater than others? | Romans | inmyheart | 65853
The law was a comprehensive whole made up of civil, moral, and ceremonial requirements. To break it at one point was to break it in its totality. Since man cannot measure up to the law's lofty demands, it brings him face to face with his sin. In marked contrast to the law, grace is God's unmerited favor. Through Christ, God provides for man what he could not provide for himself. Jesus came to pay a debt He didn't owe because man owed a debt he couldn't pay. Whether it was the Old Testament of law or the New Testament of grace, God has spoken. That in itself is an astounding and humbling reality. God was not obligated to speak. He was not our debtor. Man surely did not deserve a word from heaven. After all, we were sinful, disobedient, and at enmity with God. God has spoken with finality through His Son. It is a completed and perfect message. Nothing has to be added and nothing has to be changed. It simply has to be understood and obeyed. Matthew 22:36-40, "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law? "Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." |

369 | Did God create "EVIL"? | Rom 5:12 | inmyheart | 65847
zerotheory God had existed in eternity; time itself has been created by him. This means that before the creation of the universe, God had existed alone. And since Scripture teaches that there is no evil in God, the question arises as to "the source and origin of evil." We cannot say that God himself, although there is no evil in him, committed evil; Scripture denies this possibility. James 1:16-17 tells us, "Don't be deceived, my dear brothers. Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows." If God is the source of "every good and perfect gift, "and gift,"does not change," it means that he does not perform anything other than that which is good. An answer consistent with the biblical data would be that God had created creatures with the ability to choose, although he possessed complete control over even their wills, and that it was good for him to have done so. But these creatures by God's good sovereign decree, decided to make choices that were contrary to the goodness of God and therefore resulted in evil. We must insist, contrary to the "free will" of humanism, that God did not merely "permit" evil, but he decreed it; otherwise, it could not have originated. Now, the Bible says that if there is no moral law, there would be no sin. Therefore, sin is a transgression of the moral law. Since the moral law states that which is good, evil is thus a deviation from objective goodness, and is therefore not really a thing in itself. What follows from this is that goodness can exist without evil, but evil cannot exist without objective goodness. If evil, as it seems,is an "ought not," then it cannot exist without an "ought." It is possible for there to be an objective standard of goodness without any deviation from it, but it is not possible for there to be a deviation from goodness if the goodness itself is undefined or non-existent. For example, it is conceivable to have a speed limit without anyone violating it, but it is impossible to violate the speed limit if there is no such thing. Likewise, it is only possible for there to be evil if there is good, but it is possible for there to be good without the existence of evil. God does not need Satan to define him. Evil indeed exists, but not as a thing in itself; rather, it is a deviation from the good. This does not mean that evil is an illusion, as some non-Christian systems of thought assert, but that it does not have independent and objective existence, as is the case with goodness. In brief, goodness is defined by the word of God, and evil is in turn defined by (the deviation from) goodness. What God says is good, is good; what deviates or contradicts what he says is evil. Did this help you? God bless! P.S. My first post is from my files, and was not fitted to this window, let's see if this second post will fit, if not, you get the message. Praise God. |

371 | helping someone to believe? | John 3:16 | inmyheart | 65704
You pray for them. You've heard that some sow, some water, and some harvest? Only God knows how He wants to use you in winning this person to the Lord. For myself, when I was in the world the preaching of the cross was foolishness ( maybe you can agree with this also), as it is written in 1 Corinthians 1:18, but now that I'm a believer, it's the power of God, amen! One thing is certain, that God wants to demonstrate His Love through you to this lost and dying world. God Bless |

372 | Is believing the same as knowing? | Acts 15:11 | inmyheart | 65703
Romans 10:9-10 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that "God raised him from the dead," you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. Greetings, we confess the Word of God, that Jesus did die for our sins and God raised Him back from the dead, and because He is not dead, He lives. Jesus did not just die and now is living. God sent His only Son to be that ultimate sacrifice, to redeem us from our sin, He paid the debt that He did not owe, becauce we had a debt that we could not pay. In short, we must speak the whole truth, never compromise His Word. |

mommpabs, Greetings! I'm thinking of you with the following verses. Hebrews 10:39 But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved. 1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. 2 Corinthians 7:12-13, So even though I wrote to you, it was not on account of the one who did the wrong or of the injured party, but rather that before God you could see for yourselves how devoted to us you are. By all this we are ENCOURAGED. God bless you my friend!!! |

375 | How does Satan influence us? | John 13:27 | inmyheart | 65570
Rom 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, [which is] your reasonable service. Rom 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. And be not conformed to this world, meaning don't be squeezed or pressured into the mold of this world. We are to be transformed, or changed. And the way to be changed is to renew our mind. For us to get to our destiny and purpose in life, we have to transformed. The born-again experience has elevated us to a higher standard, and once we are elevated to that higher standard of living we are to renew our mind, and "bring our minds" up to that higher standard, so we can operate effectively. We want to make it to our destiny, one of the things we found out is that the enemy (satan) is after our souls. Our souls consist of our mind, will and emotions. In Matthew 6:25, we are not to worry, well one the the ways the enemy will attack you in through your mind, he will send a thought, and we are to cast those those thoughts down or out of our minds. In fact the bible instructs us on what to think about in Philippians 4:8-9. Well, this can go into a study, so I'll stop here. I pray that this has given you some information. Don't forget Jesus, is the author and finisher of our faith, we have the victory! God bless. P.S. Yes, to all of your ? |

376 | How does Satan communicate with us? | John 13:27 | inmyheart | 65557
Cheryl, Satan is the father of lies, he will use every situation to attack you. Here are a few verses to help you recognize some areas that liar uses. When these areas arise, we are to cast them down, or reject them, or not entertain them. 2Cr 10:4 (For the weapons of our warfare [are] not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 2Cr 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; 2Cr 10:6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. 377 | love...as himself (if no self-love?) | Eph 5:33 | inmyheart | 65467
How husbands walk in the light: loving their wives. The model for the husband's love is nothing less that the totally self-giving love of Jesus; "husbands are to set aside their natural selfishness" and care for their own wives as their would themselves. Self-love is found in Christ Jesus, when we surrender all. We are to lose our lives(no matter how good we thought we were), so we can find our life in Jesus. The paradox: finding life by losing it a. Jesus asks us to look beyond immediate gratification, because the immediate loss is worth the ultimate gain, even though the loss is completely repulsive to our flesh. b. This ultimate gain is given on that day when He will reward each according to his works; if we live life blind to this truth, we really will lose our own soul.(Matthew 16:25-27) |

Mae64, Well, Praise the Lord! Thank you for your praise report. Never let go of; "with God all things are possible." This may very well be the breaking point where God will deliver your son from his addiction, this is between your son and God. I have never seen God fail! Don't let that lying devil cast any doubts into your mind, expect your son to be proclaiming the Word of God on his release date and from there on. God bless you my friend, I hear the peace of God in your post. I leave this verse for you from Romans 8:31. I'm still agreeing with you in prayer! |

380 | tithing | Acts 13:39 | inmyheart | 65223
In the churches of Corinth and of Galatia, when on a certain occasion money was needed for the saints' (that is, apparently, the poor of the church of Jerusalem), the apostle Paul, with a founder's authority, directed or gave order: "Upon the first day of the week let each one of you lay by him in store, as he may prosper," I Corinthians 16:2. Here four things may be noticed about this method of raising a charitable fund: 1. It seems to be assumed that every one would give. 2. Givings were to be stored beforehand. 3. Giving was to have reference to prosperity. 4. Giving, or laying by, was to be exercised every Lord's day. And it should be observed that sometimes collections, enjoined by the apostle, were on behalf of Christians outside the churches in which the contributions were made. Other instructions upon giving, taught by Paul to his Galatian converts, seem to occur in connection with their support of the ministry, for he says: "Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things. Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap," Galatians 6:6-7 Give to your local body of believers, your church. God will lead you to the right one. God Bless |
