2 | Providing with Life Assurance-Biblical? | Bible general Archive 2 | gracefull | 94636
Hi Harry...Read Numbers 27 and see if that helps. Number's 27 addresses the process for which the inheritance of a deceased man should be distributed. These verses indicate that a man should leave an inheritance for his family. This inheritance is HIS accumilated wealth. Life insurance was not available back then but men gathered for their children. And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a man die, and have no son, then ye shall cause his inheritance to pass unto his daughter. Notice the verse does not say IF he has an inheritance..men were expected to have an inheritance. God bless |

3 | GOD TURNED HIS BACK ON JESUS WHEN JESUS | Bible general Archive 2 | gracefull | 94784
Hi Ray... And in this statement lies the mystery! That God could become sin for us and be forsaken...Not whether He was forsaken or not. "I see a holy God who was numbered with the transgressors and for a brief moment (see Isaiah 54:7) felt the forsaking that a man would feel. But He remained the Son of Man, even the Man crying out "My (God), My God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?" Matthew 27:46." God bless |

4 | Providing with Life Assurance-Biblical? | Bible general Archive 2 | gracefull | 95476
Harry, I will write this post as if you are a Christian brother, If not, I pray you soon will be. The same Word given to him can also set you free. After presenting scripture and planting seed of the Word, let the Holy Spirit do the work. If you love him pray for him. I suggest you read Colossians Chapter 1..this is an excellent prayer for others.. Two things to remember.. Roman's 14:4 Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand. He belongs to God..God loves him more than you ever could...trust God's love for him to keep him. This will set YOU free. John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. Unless the Holy Spirit reveals the truth which is God's heart and will revealed through scripture one cannot see. Let the Holy Spirit do His job, and you love and pray for your brother. God bless |

Dear brother, Thank you for that testimony. I thought you probably were a bother in Christ, but am glad you shared your testimony. My admonishment was one spoken from experience. Often we observe the walk of others and desire to 'correct' them. Testimony: A year ago a dear sister shared with me that she had presented to the Lord in prayer the desire she believed He had placed on her heart for employment. She was so specific and the substance was so specific I doubted. She said she believed God would lead her to this 'perfect'(for her) job. My internal response was doubt, but the Holy Spirit checked me and warned me not to interfere. I said a word of hope and asked what this sister was doing as far as searching for this job. She said she was praying about it. My response (burned into my mind now as a reminder) was, 'Someone is not going to come knocking on your door offering you a job'. We then changed the subject. 2 months later a lady called her. She neither knew this lady or the company she was owner of. This lady told her that she had an opening and that someone had recommended her for the position. This lady had called several people she knew in various churches in the area asking for recomendations, and my sister was recomended. She had no qualifications or previous experience in this field. She was hired on the first interview. God had not only given this sister the job He had placed on her heart, He had sent the job TO HER. God has rminded me several times since then that I should 'mind my own business' when it comes to someone's personal walk. Now the exception to this is someone who would tell me God told them to do something I know is in conflict with the Word. I said all that to say this Harry..The issue of life insurance is for most of us not a lack of faith. But we do not know what God may be teaching this brother. His dependance on life insurance may actually HINDER his faith in what God wants to do in his life. That is why I said to let your concern go through prayer for him and recognizing he belongs to God. God very well may be using him to teach you something. John chapter 14 is a wonderful chapter. In it Jesus reveals the depth of our personal relationship with him. How He wll abide with us and IN US through the Holy Spirit. Sometimes we want to hold onto others like parents who do not want to let the children grow up. But if they are born again Spirit filled believers they have GOD INSIDE...We just have to learn to hear and trust. John 14:16-18 16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. 18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. "God does not want quantity, but quality. It is not for me to say God will not save someone by Grace, but that would mean the person has to uphold the Law" The beauty of such a diverse group for Bible study is a boundless opportunity to openly discuss scripture and share understanding in hopes that someone, incuding self, will learn and grow. It is surprising to see how diverse the 'Christian' community is in their beliefs though. I was truly amazed when I first came to the forum..As for quality..after we are saved by grace, we are to be maturing to the image of Christ..(Romans 12:1-21 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.)but if God were looking for quality to save...we would all have been miserably lost. God bless |

6 | Is marriage when you sign a paper ? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 68700
Pris, Marriage is certainly a committment between two people BEFORE God, but the question that comes to mind, as Emmaus is also asking..Does your fiance want to keep your 'marriage' a secret? Or is he simply afraid of the legal implications? Your level of committment may be much greater than his..and time and actions show the character of a person, not words. Without the legal obligation you are looking at 'blind faith'. In our culture this would be very blind faith because our culture is imoral and committments are relative (I will stay married o you only as long as it is pleasing to me). His committment to you will only be as strong as his committment to God, and without the legal binding agreement, he can walk away with no responsibility. Our judicial system is no longer based on moral law therefore without being legally marrried he can walk away leaving you with baby, and with a lot of shame. Am I clear? In the old days the laws were established for men by God's law..In our country God's law does not rule, and we are subject to the laws of our land. If he does not legally marry you, he is free to go and leave you uncared for. Emmaus is probably correct..this man is trying to manipulate you and use you, or else he has serious committment issues, otherwise it would not be an issue. Until you marry and allow him to become your 'head' talk to your current spiritual head (authority) which is your father and if not your father..your pastor. God bless, |

7 | making wine.Did Jesus make a mistake. | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 68975
John, I really have no intentions of joining this discussion in length, however I would like to ask you about your statemnt that it takes a great deal of alcohol to become addicted..Having family history with alcoholism, what I have learned is that in most cases of alcoholism there is a chemical imbalance and with a single drink the alcohol becomes a very strong compulsion. The awareness and then the acknowledgement of the alcholic is necessary to even begin to take steps to break the addiction. It becomes a mental as well as a physical addiction as the disease progresses. When an alcoholic stops drinking..say 20 years...and starts back, the progression of the disease has not stopped and the drinker is as addicted as if he had never stopped. I do agree that alcohol cannot be blamed for the pain and heartache, but the person must be held accountable. Accountability is the main force behind sobriety and often the only thing that brings the alcoholic to recovery. Forgiveness is the only thing that brings healing for all the pain an aloholic causes. Often that takes looking at alcoholism for what it really is, a horrific bondage that the bound needs deliverance from. Many do not know the power of God can break that bondage. Having watched several family members suffering this hellish torment and finally breaking free helps me understand because they have shared the terrible guilt that gripped them and instead of causing them to go free, this guilt pushed them deeper into the pit of hopelessness. I think what helped me forgive from my heart the pain of alcoholism was this scripture... We wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities...and also Jesus on the cross looking down on the same croud that was blindly screaming for his death and said 'Father forgive them for they know not what they do". Satan blinds the world and it takes the Holy Spirit and God's love to look at those who have caused us such horrific pain and say sincerely 'Father, forgive them...set them free.' But when we realize that there is a demonic spirit that pushes them to sin and denomic spirit that pushes us to not forgive from the heart. From the heart.. |

8 | Should we lift our hands in praise and | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 70351
I believe this is a matter between the believer and the Holy Spirit. And I do believe the Holy Spirit not only approves lifting of hands but unctions believers to do so. It should not be a 'custom' or a 'doctrine' but a personal matter of worship, praise, and prayer between the believer and their God.
9 | Praying to Mary isn't worship? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 71096
Hello Steve aka Indiana Jones: May I make a observation. If scripture teaches us how to pray and who to pray to, why would we want to deviate from God' s manual? Here is the problem I see in this...Not that Jesus would be 'offended' but that believers would be placing their faith in vain? I also see one problem with your example on intercession. If I ask you to pray for me or with me, I have some reason to believe you will, but we have no reason to believe Mary either will or can interceed for us. What is the problem with just doing it the way God and Jesus instructed? it seem to me that that is they only way to know He hears us, because He said He would. Jesus paid the awesome price to set us free to walk in His righteousness and His justification and "come boldly to the throne of grace to find mercy and help in the time of need". |

11 | Praying to Mary isn't worship? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 71384
Hi Steve, I did not say 'the Bible and God are one'...I said the word and God are one. Based on John 1:1-3 The difference being the book the words are recorded in and the words themselves being the revealed truth of God. The book is not God but the words are Spirit and life.... God bless! |

12 | Praying to Mary isn't worship? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 71622
Hi Steve aka Indy.. I certainly was not intending to sound argumentative. I apologize if it sounded that way. But I was concerned because there are many who do not acknowledge the word of God as absolute authority. And there are those who religiously protect their 'book' displaying it prominently and keeping it dusted off and puting their faith in that like an idol. I was relatively sure I knew what you meant but one must not asume. Thanks for taking the time to clarify your statement for the many who may pass this way. God bless!! |

13 | How do I pray for myself? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 71703
I recently received (and ordered one for all my children) a small booklet that might be a good place to start. It is titled "For The Family" by Sylvia Gunter. The web site to order this and other study guides is: www.thefathersbusiness.com Some of the table of contents reads Praying for the family Steps to powerful prayer Love check-up Clean hands, pure heart inventory Warfare prayer Bondage breaking prayer Praying for husband Praying for wife Praying for children What I like and the reason I recomend it is that it is not 'form'prayers, but addresses praying scripturally therefore in God's will, and addresses hinderances to prayer. When we pray God's word, we are praying in agreement with His will so we can pray confidently (in faith). This is a mini-booklet for a more extensive study guide also available on the site. God bless |

14 | How do I pray for myself? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 71738
Are thoughts of the heart and thoughts of the mind the same thing? The mind has to be renewed and we are transformed by the renewing of our minds...No all our thoughts are not Godly thoughts because the renewed mind is a process. Secondly the thoughts of the heart are those that proceed from the spirit of a man, not his mind. The mind is to be disciplined to obey God's word as we capture thoughts, but as long as there is an enemy, Satan, talking to us, we will hear in our minds what is not of God. but the Spirit led believer will recognize these and cast them down. Does God know our thoughts and answer them? Know-yes, answer as prayers? No because that would infringe on our will. We must decide what to do with the thoughts and if Jesus is our Lord, we will capture them with the truth of scripture as we grow. 1 Corinthians 10:4-6 You seem to be saying God talks to us and we talk to Him MIND TO MIND...However the comunication is Spirit to spirit. God bless God bless |

15 | How do I pray for myself? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 71740
P.S. I believe you are correct in seeing this as an instruction to 'Keep the comunication lines open at all times between us and God.' Another way to put it would be to practice the presence of God which is being aware that He is present with us by His Spirit at all times. But that is not merely a mental process. As you scripture in Ephesians says pray in the spirit with all kinds of prayers... We are Spirit Soul (mind, will and emotions-carnal) Body |

16 | Finding 'Act as though you have faith' | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 72316

17 | is the holy spirit here during the tribu | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 72530
2 Thessalonians 2:6-8 seems to be saying that He will not. And you know what restrains him now, so that in his time he will be revealed. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way. Then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming. If the 'lawless one' is the anitchrist, he is being restrained, and will not be released until the Holy Spirit (along with the church) is removed. Then Jesus will return and destroy him. Can we even begin to imagine a world without the Holy Spirit and believers? I thank God for His mercy.... |

18 | Was sin the reason for the man sickness? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 72953
In considering Matthew 9:4-6 Matthew Henry's commentary states.. 3. A good reason for that encouragement; Thy sins are firgiven thee. Now this may be considered,1. as an introduction to the cure of his bodily distemper; " Thy sins are pardoned andtherefore thou shalt be healed." Note. As sin is the cause of sickness, so the remission of sin is the comfort of recovery from sickness"; not but that sin may be pardoned, and yet the sickness removed; not but that the sickness may be removed, and yet the sin not be pardoned: but if we have the comfort of our reconciliation to God, with the comfort of our recovery from sickness, this makes it a mercy indeed to us as to Hezekiah, Isa. 38:17 |

19 | To whom do we belong? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 73364
Phillipians 3:9-15 Romans 3:22 Romans 4:11 Romans 9:30 Romans 10:6 Salvation is once...Jesus paid the price once and for all...sanctification is continuous. When we recognze we are righteous by faith not works, then we can progress forward to the realization that righteousness which is by faith is the liberating factor of grace. The process of sanctification is the process of transformation done by the the Holy Spirit and the word working in our lives. When one accepts the righteousness by faith one can begin the process of sanctification without fear, but instead with a heart of love and thankfulness. As long as we fear losing our salvation we will be sin conscious, but when we refocus on growing to His likeness leaving the past behind, and moving forward we become God in us conscious...relationship conscious. Repentance is not attempting to recrucify Christ, but should be a continual walking forward IN Christ. Romans 8:15 We have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear, but ye have received the Spirit of adoption whereby we cry, Abba, Father. God bless |

20 | God is everywhere? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 73723
Genesis 18:21 My understanding is God sent His angels to test Sodom to see if there was any chance of redemption. By sending them He gave them one last opportunity to turn, and instead they pressed forward with their perversion. Please note and consider also that God said "shall I hide this thing from my servant Abraham...for I have chosen him, so he may command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing righteousness and justice, so that the LORD may bring upon Abraham what He has spoken about him. Genesis 18:17-19 God had entered a covenant with Abraham and this was a test of that covenant. God agreed not to kill the righteous with the wicked. There is much more to this than meets the eye. God bless |
