42 | Back to you about Mormon husband | Bible general Archive 1 | dat | 71768
Dear EdB Here are some answers to your questions from your previous e-mail. My husband truly loves the jesus he believes to be the savior. To make a long story short, my husband never felt loved until he went to a Mormon church and they accepted him and loved him. I think this is why he feels so strongly about his religion. Without Mormonism, he might of been dead by now due to the wild lifestyle he was living. Anyway, he said that I have a lifetime to try to convert him. However, he has an answer for everything I try to talk to him about. Unfortunately, he knows the bible better than me and I can't find certain passages to show him. When I do find a passage I want him to look at, he thinks I'm taking it out of context, but I show him what is before and after the passage and he just doesn't see the truth. I asked him to pray and ask for the one and only true holy spirt of God to speak to him and to pray that no other spirit can speak to him. He said he has done this and has asked jesus into his heart, but this hasn't really happened. Is there a way for him to pray to find the real Jesus? It says, seek and ye shall find, but if he doesn't truly believe it, would it still work? I believe that HE THINKS HE IS really asking to have the spirit reveal things to him, but it hasn't changed him. Any thoughts on this? PS. I am in the process of reading Reasoning The Scriptures With Mormons and have read many other books too. I have written my husband several letters as well, but nothing has helped. Am I wasting my time? One last thing, I read in a book and I think in the bible too that a wife is to try to win her husband to God by example, not by words. Could this be a problem? Remember, he does go with me to church when he doesn't have to go to his church (every once in awhile) and he will sometimes go with me to Wednesday night bible studies with me too. Thanks! dat |

43 | Brother's harsh letter - re: Mormon | Bible general Archive 1 | dat | 71952
Dear EdB After sending my brother a letter (in love) about his attitude towards my Mormon husband, he sent me a reply. The worst thing I said in my letter to my brother was that my husband was behaving in a more Christian manner than my brother is and that he should try to love and witness to him. My brother's reply spewed venomous insults and hurtful answers. He said that I need to repent because I haven't yet. I know divorcing my first husband was wrong (not matter how he treated me) and for marrying my new husband who isn't a Christian. I have asked for forgiveness. However, my brother thinks that the only way for me to repent is to divorce my current husband. I know God isn't pleased that I married him, but I don't think God would want me to get divorced again...besides, I love my husband. My brother thinks that since my husband is in a "cult" (belongs to Satan), and that the two become one flesh, that I am of the devil as well. He said that I am either stupid/insane and don't know true love and that being married to my husband is committing adultery. He also said that I may not be saved since I did this stuff. What do you or anyone out there think of this? Please reply as soon as possible. Thanks! dat |

44 | Trinity explanation made easy??????????? | Bible general Archive 1 | dat | 73306
Does anyone have an easy way to explain the trinity to someone who thinks it is 2 or 3 separate individuals? (Example: God is an individual man, Jesus is an individual man, and the Spirit is a spirit). I have a hard time trying to explain it to someone who thinks they are individual. dat
45 | Did Jesus go to Hell? | Bible general Archive 1 | dat | 73304
Did Jesus go into Hell after he died? If so, why (what for) or what did he do there? I heard someone say he went to preach to the lost souls. That doesn't sound right to me. dat
46 | Trinity explanation made easy??????????? | Bible general Archive 1 | dat | 73312
I did try to look up this information in "search", but didn't find any help with an easy explanation of the trinity to try to explain to someone since it is even hard for me to understand. Also, I tried to look up if Jesus went into Hell or not, but it didn't really explain it. SORRY!

49 | Mormonism - Cult or Satanic Cult? | Bible general Archive 1 | dat | 77324
Mormonism is a cult, but would it be considered a Satanic cult? I know they believe the wrong things, but they don't "worship" Satan. Other religions are wrong, but people don't consider them to be Satanic in nature. I'd appreciate any comments. Thanks! dat
50 | Mormonism - Cult or Satanic Cult | Bible general Archive 1 | dat | 77357
Mormonism - Cult or Satanic Cult PJC I know that if we aren't Christ's, we are Satan's. However, I meant something different. I am not a Mormon, but my husband is. My brother refuses to even talk to him because he thinks he is in a Satanic cult. My husband doesn't worship Satan. The thing I'm getting at is that I think my brother should try to witness to him because Mormon's are wrong, not refuse to talk to him because he is in a "Satanic" cult. Other religions are wrong, yet he will talk to/witness to them. |

51 | Jesus married? Its not true! | Bible general Archive 1 | dat | 78573
Mormons believe that Jesus was married. Does anyone know who they are supposed to be talking about? I know Jesus wasn't married because I'm sure that if he was, somebody (a believer or a non-believer) would have documented such an important detail. dat
52 | How do I answer them? | Bible general Archive 1 | dat | 83981
Yes, we are saved by faith, but it also requires that we ask God into our hearts and repent of our sinful ways. It says that faith without works is dead. I believe that to mean that after you have accepted Jesus and asked him into your life, that you become saved. In turn, when you repent and start to follow in Jesus' footsteps, you will do good works because your "nature" will change. Just because you believe in your head doesn't mean you are saved and go to Heaven. It says in the bible that even the demons believe... However, they aren't going to Heaven. Continue in the word of God and you will see the differences between having faith and a relationship with God instead of just "head" knowledge. Dat
53 | salvation only or other topics taught? | Bible general Archive 1 | dat | 87770
Do certain denominations only teach about salvation and nothing else? dat
54 | Other topics taught besides salvation? | Bible general Archive 1 | dat | 87825
Dear Moran61 I guess my question was too general. The thing I was getting at is actually about whether or not certain denominations teach all different topics such as tolerance of sin vs hating the sin, but loving the sinner. I have posted past articles about myself - a born-again christian divorcing my husband over neglect and a few other things and then marring a Mormon (which I know was wrong and have asked God to forgive me). My brother and sister have cut me out of their lives. It has been 2 years now. They will only let me back into their lives if I divorce my current husband. However, I love him dearly and he has been going to bible study with me each week for the past year. They consider me a continuing "adulteress" since I sleep with my husband and didn't have a "good enough" reason to divorce my first husband. Neither of them is showing a Christian attitude. I thought you were supposed to hate the sin, but love the sinner. If anything, their attitude is putting my husband off of true Christianity. My siblings don't see it that way. I am trying to witness to my husband and I thought that they should try to do that also. I guess I'm venting a bit. I just don't understand how they can be this way. I swear they are doing this just to "punish" me. Is it time for me to just forget about them? I've been the only one trying to salvage our relationships. Any thoughts? dat |

55 | When or should we avoid unbelievers? | NT general Archive 1 | dat | 71200
Are we to totally stay away from "UNBELIEVERS" or are we to try to win them to Christ? And if we are to try to win them to Christ, are we to stop associating with them if we are not successful? Advice would be appreciated. dat

57 | Charity or a Door Mat? | NT general Archive 1 | dat | 104833
How long should you help someone who doesn't want to help themselves? My friend has been helping a single woman and her children for the last 2 years. The woman has promised to go to church on several occasions, but changes her mind at the last minute after people show up on her doorstep. She lives in an outlying area and this is over a 45 minute drive. My friend (through the church) has paid for prescriptions, food, Christmas presents for the children, given her clothes for herself and the family, given her furniture, cash, etc., but this woman has never come to our church or let anyone talk to her about the gospel. Her children are out of control and threw things at my friend and swore at her. Half of us think this woman has no intention of changing or wanting to change and is just using us for her own selfish reasons and the other half think we should be charitable. I believe in being charitable, but I think this goes beyond that, especially after 2 years of this. This Christmas, we wanted to meet her and her family (so far only a few people have met her and only for a short time). Anyway, she only wants to get the presents for the kids and not meet anyone else. What do you think?
58 | Version vs Version - Again | Gen 6:1 | dat | 114003
Dear Sir Pent I was referring to Genesis 6. One of them says something like the sons of God married to daughters of men, etc. However, the other version says the Nephilim (angles) married the daughters of men and another version says they were giants. In my mind I mainly just look at other versions and come to my own conclusions (which are usually like most christians). I was just wondering how I would approach my husband since he says I HAVE to stick to that exact version. |
