22 | Jesus didn't know what to say | Mark 9:6 | brenda_L | 174939
It wasn't Jesus who didn't know what to say. It was Peter. 5Peter said to Jesus, "Rabbi, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah." 6(He [Peter] did not know what to say, they [Peter, James and John] were so frightened.) |

24 | Didn't those people hear the voices too? | Acts 2:2 | brenda_L | 162289
They didn't hear voices. There was a sound (as of a rushing mighty wind) "there came 'a sound' from heaven 'as of a rushing mighty wind', and it filled all the house where they were sitting."( Acts 2:2 King James Version) It must have been an amazing scene, to those you witnessed it, and hard for them to believe. "They were all amazed, and were in doubt," (verse 12) To some they appeared drunk (verse 13). |

25 | Why didnt Saul help steven in theCrucifx | Acts 9:4 | brenda_L | 162287
It was Acts 7:54-60 when Stephen was stoned. Saul persecuted the church at that time, and had not yet been converted (he would later be called Paul instead of Saul). Saul's conversion happens in Acts 9 (you should read that chapter), when the Lord appears to him and said "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?" |

27 | Christians/Catholics same? | Rom 3:28 | brenda_L | 162104
Catholics believe in God, yes...but they also believe people need to keep the commandments and do good works to 'get to Heaven'. Scripture cleary says that we (those who put their faith in Jesus) are 'justified by faith apart from observing the law'. Romans 3:21 starts off with "21. But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify." In the Old Testament the blood of animals was needed...and it was only a temporary solution. They needed to sacrafice constantly. But Jesus Died on the cross, shed HIS BLOOD for our sins...canceling the Old Testament part where animal's blood was needed. And this he only needed to do once...not over and over again. Jesus is THE LAMB of God. |

28 | Christians/Catholics same? | Rom 3:28 | brenda_L | 162135
no, of course not. When I mentioned commandments I was referring to the 10 Commandments. And there is no way anyone can keep all of them. Where is it written where it says something about just breaking one of them you are guilty of breaking them all? And isn't God's greatest commandment Love? Love in Christ, BL |

29 | Christians/Catholics same? | Rom 3:28 | brenda_L | 162141
Since I was raised Catholic, I am going by how I was brought up. We believed in God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. We believed Jesus died on the cross for us for our sins. But we were also told if you were a 'good' person you'd get into Heaven, and follow the 10 commandments. ALL those things would 'save you'. I'm just going by what I learned as a Catholic. Sad to say this, but I still have flash-backs of the nuns (it was terrible...the Catholic School). We sat in Church for 30 minutes, once a week...reciting things from a lil hym-type booklet. Never did we read the bible together, at church...or were explained things. Things were just read out to us. It was like a ritual. We sat, we stood, we knelt and stood again...we said Amen...we said the Our Father. And what was I thinking the entire time? I couldn't wait to get out of there and hang out with friends. But I did what was required of me...church once a week. And if we did anything wrong there was always confession, and the priest would forgive you. If it's stated somewhere that Catholics believe in salvation by faith ALONE, apart from works, I've never seen it or heard about it while I was a Catholic ..and it was definately never taught to us. Are you a Catholic? "Indeed He is THE LAMB of God as Catholics well know and profess each time they worship when they pray aloud in unison" I don't ever remember a time saying it and actually understanding it or meaning it. We just said what we were suppose to say, at the right time. |

32 | Christians/Catholics same? | Rom 3:28 | brenda_L | 162189
Your info on your page here...you say you are Catholic Christian. I've never heard of that before. We were just Catholic here. The nuns in our school...I remember being pulled out of my chair by my right ear...and I was only in the second grade. My sister (who was 11 years older than me) had worse memories. She was spanked with a ruler or put in a closet. Then it was just considered being strict. Now, I'm sure, it would be called Child Abuse. Not fond memories at all. I've never felt close to God in the Catholic church. Sad indeed... |

33 | What is Paul's belief about Suffering? | Rom 5:3 | brenda_L | 163711

34 | Questions friend has asked | Rom 8:29 | brenda_L | 162105
If someone makes a prediction and it's wrong then they are called a false prophet. 1 John 4:1 says: 1Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. How do you test them? If something they says goes against the word of God or if what they predict doesn't happen they are not from God. You see quite a few people predicting the end of the world, when Jesus will return. What does scripture say? Mark 13:32 "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father." (read all of Mark 13) |

35 | why satan wasn't dealt with right away? | Rom 16:20 | brenda_L | 164273
My husband asked me something I didn't know how to answer. I was hoping someone here might be able to help. When satan and the angels were thrown out of heaven, why didn't God deal with them then? Why wait? Why just throw him out of heaven and not into hell? This was the question he asked me...and I didn't know what to say. I remember reading scripture of how he was thrown down...about how he wanted to be like God and take over, but I don't remember ever reading anything about anything else (?). IS there anything in the bible saying why he was 'just' thrown down and not dealt with RIGHT AWAY? Or anything else that might help answer this question? Or any thoughts on this? I don't know what to tell him (hubby). |
