605 | angel do not marry, but falling angels. | Gen 6:4 | azurelaw | 199469
Dear rev eugene, Welcome to the forum. Could you please cite supporting scripture in reference to your notion that the sons of God are the fallen angels (if I understand you correctly)? "... the sons of God saw the daughters of men--By the former is meant the family of Seth, who were professedly religious; by the latter, the descendants of apostate Cain. Mixed marriages between parties of opposite principles and practice were necessarily sources of extensive corruption. The women, religious themselves, would as wives and mothers exert an influence fatal to the existence of religion in their household, and consequently the people of that later age sank to the lowest depravity." - Jamieson Faussett Brown Shalom Azure |

609 | How did God repopulate water creatures? | Gen 6:7 | azurelaw | 198345
Dear Readybunch, Welcome to the forum. In Gen chapter 6, there is no mention about the God destroying creatures in WATER, but flesh found on earth including birds. Can you show me the verse indicating water creatures are included? Shalom Azure |

610 | How did God repopulate water creatures? | Gen 6:7 | azurelaw | 198359
Dear Ready, Gen 1:2 The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the WATERS. Gen 1:9 Then God said, "Let the waters below the heavens be gathered into one place, and let the dry land appear"; and it was so. Gen 1:10 God called THE DRY LAND EARTH, and the gathering of the waters He called seas; and God saw that it was good. Gen 7:4 ...and I will blot out from the FACE OF THE LAND every living thing that I have made." Gen 7:34 Thus He blotted out every living thing that was upon the FACE OF THE LAND, from man to animals to creeping things and to birds of the sky... So, base on the scriptures above, it does not support that the creatures in water were destroyed. This is just my 2 cents. I am open to biblical correction. Shalom Azure |

611 | what is a cubit according to the bible? | Gen 6:15 | azurelaw | 202922
Dear Jessie, I think the below verse is helpful to you. Gen 6:15 (Amp version) And this is the way you are to make it: the length of the ark shall be 300 cubits, its breadth 50 cubits, and its height 30 cubits [that is, 450 ft. x 75 ft. x 45 ft.]. Shalom Azure |

612 | cubit | Gen 6:15 | azurelaw | 202928
Dear Jessie, You are welcome. But I am afraid I don't quite get your point. Was my answer helpful or you need more verses? Shalom Azure P.S. I certainly would not tell you to 'throw' the bible. :-) Have a great day! |

613 | cubit | Gen 6:15 | azurelaw | 202964
Dear Jessie, No need to apologize :-) As far as I know, the Bible did not specifically tell us what a cubit is. What I understand it is a standard of measure used in the ancient time by employing the length of the fore-arm starting from the elbow joint to the middle-finger tip as what user isa26 stated. (Other forum users please correct me if I am wrong). You may also google on the net (e.g. wikipedia) for other scholarly research. Shalom Azure |

614 | repopulation of animals after the flood | Gen 7:8 | azurelaw | 202933
Dear circlejh, Gen 7:8 Of clean animals and animals that are not clean and birds and everything that creeps on the ground, Gen 7:9 there went into the ark to Noah by twos, male and female, as God had commanded Noah. The Bible did not specifically mention the type of animals, like dinosaurs. It is certain that the animals that were repopulated after the flood were from those that entered the ark. Our brother Hank had the below recommendation before: "An excellent Christ-focused creation ministry where science and the Bible are fully integrated is Institute for Creation Research: icr.org. ... I recommend icr.org without reservation -- serious scientists with Ph.D's in their "heads" and Christ in their hearts." Shalom Azure |

615 | What was the first animal out of the ark | Gen 8:7 | azurelaw | 201711
Dear QuestionSeeker, Is it a homework assignment? Anyway, here's the verse: Gen 8:7 and he sent out a raven, and it flew here and there until the water was dried up from the earth. Shalom Azure |

616 | Would God destroy the world again? | Gen 8:21 | azurelaw | 214618
Dear Johnramz, Context is important. Gen 8:21 refers to the flood (the means of destroying the ancient world) God used to destroy the people in Noah's time. Therefore, it does not contradict 2 Peter 3:10 which talks about the 2nd coming of Christ. Shalom Azure |

617 | Is procreation a command or a blessing | Gen 9:1 | azurelaw | 198878
Recently I have a brief discussion a with sister in Christ where she asked what consitutes to the validity of marriage? Is it justify for a divorce if the spouse is impotence? Her reasoning is that God wants us to be fruitful and husband and wife become one flesh under marriage. If either one party is impotence, how can it validate the marriage relationship and also fulfill the purpose of procreation? My question : Is being fruitful (to reproduce) a command or a blessing? I did a search and found that God had not said to Adam and Eve be fruitful but to other creatures made before them. (Gen 1:22, 1:28). The word used is "blessed". Only until Noah's time God BLESSED them to be fruitful (Gen 9:1). I appreciate your thoughts. Shalom Azure |

618 | Is procreation a command or a blessing | Gen 9:1 | azurelaw | 198887
Dear Cheri, Thanks for your response. Our discussion has nothing to do with her situation or mine. This sister is a single, devoted christian. She raised the issue for the reason of that she has encountered with people (christians or non-christians) struggling with the issue of divorce. She strongly feels that part of the reason people are so resentful to Christianity is that christians hold a very conservative position (only accept divorce under adultery) on the issue and appear to be unloving towards the suffering party of a couple by disregarding factors such as impotence, unable to fulfill the vow, staying together could obviously bring them more hurt and destruction ... Finally, she asked what constitute to marriage. If a man and a woman chose to live together, commit solely to each other, not having any children at all and civil responsibilities not affected, ect. what is the need for signing that paper? We did not have enough time to finish our conversation as we were having a quick breakfast (about 15 min) last Sunday. I do not fully agree with what she briefly said. I hope I could be well prepared and find the chance for a longer talk with her. Shalom Azure |

619 | Is procreation a command or a blessing | Gen 9:1 | azurelaw | 198910
Dear Nick, Thank you for pointing me to that. I was just too sleepy and did not read my Chinese Bible carefully enough last night (my time). You are right - God SAID to Adam and Eve to be fruitful. Shalom Azure |

620 | First rain and first rainbow | Gen 9:13 | azurelaw | 183095
Gen 2:5 Now no shrub of the field was yet in the earth, and no plant of the field had yet sprouted, for the LORD God had not sent rain upon the earth, and there was no man to cultivate the ground. Gen 2:6 But a mist used to rise from the earth and water the whole surface of the ground Had it never rained between the creation of Adam and the floods? How was the land outside of Eden nurtured? Was it the first time rainbow (we know that it is caused by the reflection and refraction of the rays of the sun shining on the falling rain or tiny water drops, I have seen rainbow - even a double-rainbow by the side of a waterfall on a sunny day) appeared after the flood but never before? Or it did, but God only made it a covenant with Noah after the flood? Shalom Azure |
