81 | Anyone else-First Fruits? | 1 Thessalonians | Ric | 185
"First Fruits Rapture"? No, I have never heard of this term before. Frist fruits mean a few different things in the Bible; (Here are a few examples: EX 23:16; RO 8:23; 1CO 15:23; JAS 1:18; REV 14:4)........... As for "first fruits rapture", where you have heard that from, please ask the one (if you can) what was ment by that and post it here, I'll try my best to find out. |

82 | holy kiss | 1 Thess 5:26 | Ric | 137
The holy kiss (Rom 16:16; 1 Cor 16:20; 2 Cor 13:12; 1 Thess 5:26) was adopted as a formal greeting among believers. The holy kiss showed love and charity. I would not like to think of the opposite. .......... But, kisses were shown to be used in different ways in the Bible too, I'll list some of the negatives here: An act of worship toward heathen gods (1 Kings 19:18, 20; Job 31:27; Hos 13:2). To lure illicit love (Prov 7:13). Judas kissed Jesus to betray Him (Matt 26:48-49; Mark 14:44-45; Luke 22:47-48). ................... I hope this helps. |

83 | Reconcilitation between Paul and James | James 2:14 | Ric | 97
Careful study reveals that there is no disagreement between a Pauline statement like Eph 2:8-10 and the declaration of Jas 2:24. You need to read the passage as a whole (James 2:14-26), it divides itself into three sections: the proposition James 2:16-17; the argument James 2:18-25; and the concluding statement James 2:26. In short, real faith will bring out works proving our salvation, but one can not work for their salvation.
84 | to clarify my question... | James 2:14 | Ric | 107
For your question: ""can a distinction really be drawn on 1, works that substantiate faith and 2, works done with a intention to gain God's justification" and "is it the motive for the acts that counts at the end". ................. The answer would be that "works establish the proof of one's faith" and for the number 2 "works done with a intention to gain God's justification" will never, never happen...... Is 64:6 For all of us have become like one who is unclean, And all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment; And all of us wither like a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, take us away. 85 | Why was Abraham called the friend of God | James 2:23 | Ric | 1878
This is another way of saying that he was right with God. He acted as a friend of God should act and thus showed that he was in reality God's friend.
86 | Scripture please? | James 2:23 | Ric | 1938
I can't find a verse to answer your question, it's just a metaphor in Hebrew when one is called "friend of God" to be known as righteous in God's eyes.
87 | Interpretation of Bible teachings | James 5:14 | Ric | 108
Prayer is the more significant of the two ministries performed by the elders, for the overall emphasis of the paragraph belongs on prayer. There are a number of reasons for understanding the application of oil as medicinal rather than sacramental. The word "anoint" is not the usual word for sacramental or ritualistic anointing. Three different Greek words are translated "anoint" in the NT. Each expresses the same basic idea of rubbing or spreading oil, perfume, or ointment. It is a well-documented fact that oil was one of the most common medicines of biblical times (ISA 1:6 From the sole of your foot to the top of your head there is no soundness-- only wounds and welts and open sores, not cleansed or bandaged or soothed with oil.; LK 10:34 He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, took him to an inn and took care of him. [NIV]). |

88 | Good study guide for Revelation? | Revelation | Ric | 153
I just last year did a study on the book of Revelation, and I used a study guide called: "God's Word for the Biblically-Inept" which is a new series from Starburst Publishers. I found it very easy to use, but I think it left me asking more questions about the book of Revelation at the end of the study. I would recomend it for someone new to Bible study.
89 | Good study guide for Revelation? | Revelation | Ric | 1547
I agree that the "Scofield Reference Bible" is a great source to help one study complex books of the Bible! My studies are on a seminary level, so I have a good knowledge of the Bible (of course I still have a loooong way to go!). Funny you said "To get a good grasp on Revelation I would suggest a good grasp of the Book of Daniel", I am in a middle of a study of that book right now (also the book of James). God Bless! The more questions the better, thats the way I see it! Luke 11:9 "So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. (NIV) |

91 | Huh? | Revelation | Ric | 1625
The way I see it is that God want's us to fill our minds with His Word, so the more questions we have, the more we will ask, and the more we will find! God Bless! |

92 | Good study guide for Revelation? | Revelation | Ric | 1627
Hi Bill, I was saying that my studies are on a seminary level, I'm not attending any seminary right now. I have been in a self study for over four or five years now. I have gone to seminary book stores and other places like that (Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, Florida for one). I buy books that are recomended by pastors and seminary teachers and study, study, study. I still am a long way away from being even close to most seminary grads, but I am studying on their level. That's all I ment on studying on the seminary level, sorry if I mis-led you. God Bless! In God's Grace, Ric |

96 | SECOND CHANCE | Rev 7:1 | Ric | 90
Revelation 7:1 After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth, so that no wind should blow on the earth or on the sea or on any tree. 2 And I saw another angel ascending from the rising of the sun, having the seal of the living God; and he cried out with a loud voice to the four angels to whom it was granted to harm the earth and the sea, 3 saying, "Do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees, until we have sealed the bond-servants of our God on their foreheads." 4 And I heard the number of those who were sealed, one hundred and forty-four thousand sealed from every tribe of the sons of Israel: 5 from the tribe of Judah, twelve thousand were sealed, from the tribe of Reuben twelve thousand, from the tribe of Gad twelve thousand, 6 from the tribe of Asher twelve thousand, from the tribe of Naphtali twelve thousand, from the tribe of Manasseh twelve thousand, 7 from the tribe of Simeon twelve thousand, from the tribe of Levi twelve thousand, from the tribe of Issachar twelve thousand, 8 from the tribe of Zebulun twelve thousand, from the tribe of Joseph twelve thousand, from the tribe of Benjamin, twelve thousand were sealed. (NAS) These 144,000 "Triblation Saints" are still on Earth after the rapture. They have the seal fo God so they won't be harmed. |

97 | SECOND CHANCE | Rev 7:1 | Ric | 1332
It does refer to people still here on the Earth. And all through Scripture the word "saint" is given to all of God's people (i.e. Saved, Chosen, Born Again, etc...) God Bless. In God's Grace, Ric |
