441 | Can we loose our salvation | Bible general Archive 1 | Pastor Glenn | 67371
New Creature, This is an excellent assembly of scripture. Of course the question is always whether a person was truly saved before he falls away. A better question is: How do we know that we are truly saved ourselves? 1 John 3 Sin and the Child of God 4 Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. 5And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin. 6Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him. 7Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. 8He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. 9Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God. The Imperative of Love (1) 10 In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother. 11For this is the message that you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another, 12not as Cain who was of the wicked one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his works were evil and his brother's righteous. 13Do not marvel, my brethren, if the world hates you. 14We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love his brother[3] abides in death. 15Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. The Outworking of Love 16 By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 17But whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? 18My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth. 19And by this we know[4] that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him. 20For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things. 21Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward God. 22And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. 23And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us[5] commandment. The Spirit of Truth and the Spirit of Error 24 Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us. I wanted to put only vs14 here but it was all just too good to cut out. But you already know this since your are a New Creature. God Bless, Pastor Glenn |

444 | What is people sin? | Luke 15:7 | Pastor Glenn | 67359
confusing, I am glad to attempt to explain these things according to the bible. You seem to think that it would have been better that God had not created man. Man is a victim, not of God against Satan, but of man's own rebellion against God. Man is a victim of his own selfishness. God created man for His very honourable purposes: Hebrews 2:6But one testified in a certain place, saying: "What is man that You are mindful of him, Or the son of man that You take care of him? 7You have made him a little lower than the angels; You have crowned him with glory and honor, And set him over the works of Your hands. 8You have put all things in subjection under his feet." For in that He put all in subjection under him, He left nothing that is not put under him. But now we do not yet see all things put under him. 9But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone. 10 For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. 11For both He who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified are all of one, for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren, After becoming a Man Himself, it is God's plan to bring us into His family for all eternity! It is helpful to look to the end of the story: Revelation 21:1 Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. 2Then I, John,[1] saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. 4And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away." 5Then He who sat on the throne said, "Behold, I make all things new." And He said to me,[2] "Write, for these words are true and faithful." 6And He said to me, "It is done![3] I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. 7He who overcomes shall inherit all things,[4] and I will be his God and he shall be My son. Pastor Glenn |

445 | Is anything in the bible proven untrue | Ps 119:160 | Pastor Glenn | 67304
Excellent Retxar! Romans 3:4 Certainly not! Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar. As it is written: "That You may be justified in Your words, And may overcome when You are judged."[Psalm 51:4] |

446 | What is people sin? | Luke 15:7 | Pastor Glenn | 67268
confusing, God created Lucifer (Satan) as a spirit like Himself. The angels had a choice, but no Savior from the bad choice. When man sinned due to Satan's temptation, he made a choice that by God's justice required swift death sentence. Unlike the angels that sinned, we have a savior. Satan's temptation helps to force us to choose Jesus or Satan before we die. Without pain and suffering, we would not see a need to choose Jesus Christ. God cares very much and does everything to help us make the right choice: Luke 15:1 Then all the tax collectors and the sinners drew near to Him to hear Him. 2And the Pharisees and scribes complained, saying, "This Man receives sinners and eats with them." 3So He spoke this parable to them, saying: 4"What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? 5And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. 6And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, "Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!' 7I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance. 447 | Why does Jesus have 2 genealogies? | Rom 1:18 | Pastor Glenn | 67243
ateo, Were you once a Christian? Jesus Christ is God. The bible is the true word from the one true God. Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. 20For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man--and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things. There is no excuse. Pastor Glenn |

448 | offspring of Adam and Eve | Gen 4:17 | Pastor Glenn | 66939
Freebyrd, We must realize that Cain's generation was living to be over 900 years old. We also must realize that the bible does not say how many children in all that Adam had. I am sure that after migrating to the land of Nod that Cain met many relatives that he did not know. Notice that Adam was 130 when Seth was born. There could have been thousands of nephews, nieces, grand, great grand, and great great grand nieces by then that Cain never saw before. Notice also that Cain built a city and named it after his son Enoch. Well if people left home and built cities then that implies that his people were multiplying over hundreds of years. Just imagine if Thomas Jefferson were still alive and having children for over two hundred years! Wouldn't there be a huge town full of Jefferson’s today? :-) Pastor Glenn |

449 | Double fulfilment of prophecy? | Matt 2:18 | Pastor Glenn | 66935
Is Matthew holding to the same rules of biblical interpretation in this scripture that we often use today when determining prophecy fulfilment? Are there rules and methods that we can learn from and apply to other prophecy scriptures today? Or is this simply an example of inspiration from God to show this fulfilment? Jeremiah 31:15 Thus says the LORD: "A voice was heard in Ramah, Lamentation and bitter weeping, Rachel weeping for her children, Refusing to be comforted for her children, Because they are no more." Matthew 2:18 "A voice was heard in Ramah, Lamentation, weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, Refusing to be comforted, Because they are no more."[2:18 Jeremiah 31:15] Pastor Glenn |

Searcher, Wow, youare right. That is so thorough. You are a treasure to this forum because you treasure the word of God. Acts 17:11 These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so. 451 | Aborted babies saved? | 1 Cor 7:14 | Pastor Glenn | 66738
jo par, We see many things only in part. When it comes to mercy, justice, and righteousness, I already know that He is saving far more people than you or I would. The Lord is totally just and righteous and His mercy endures forever: Psalm 19:9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. In the end, even the angels of God will declare His righteous judgements. They are not "yes" men. They are truly watching and recognizing how wonderful God is and how He is working every detail of life, as well as, His knowledge of the past, present and future to save us from sin. But some people just keep making the choice for Satan time after time: Revelation 16:5And I heard the angel of the waters saying: "You are righteous, O Lord,[2] The One who is and who was and who is to be,[3] Because You have judged these things. 6For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, And You have given them blood to drink. For[4] it is their just due." 7And I heard another from[5] the altar saying, "Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are Your judgments." Pastor Glenn |

Their parents were previously baren: Genesis 17:17 Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed, and said in his heart, "Shall a child be born to a man who is one hundred years old? And shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child?" 18And Abraham said to God, "Oh, that Ishmael might live before You!" 19Then God said: "No, Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac; I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his descendants after him. |

453 | Homosexuality and Christianity? | Leviticus | Pastor Glenn | 66566
Defender, You said, “Why are homosexuals nt accepted - is it true that their sexuality is a result of their genes? Does God accept homosexuals? Can homosexuals be Christians? Answer: Because of Leviticus 18:22 chritains beleive that this small statement, is more truer than genetics and science, they beleive homosexuality is a choice that can be changed! But if god created us in his image, he created us the way we are, and god love all of his creations! “ The bottom line for “heterosexuals” (let alone homosexuals) is that all sex acts is a choice. God did not create us in our present state. Our present state is with a “sin nature” that is the result of the “fall” of mankind. Sin nature gave us a selfish, lustful, and rebellious attitude to the things of God. Defender, the real question is whether we want to shed our sin nature by being “born again”. (Read John chapters 3 and 4) You said, “There have been 27'000 editions of the bible as far as i know, and in my beleive, each edition may have been altered to say what was the current moralistic view of the people, also there are a lot of words in the hebrew and greek that can not be fully translated into todays english! “ “The bible has many contradictions, so it would be worth while researching the bible, the torah and make up your own mind, then that is your beleive and yes you can call yourself christian and be homosexual if thats what you beleive in! I myself do beleive homosexuality is ok, mainly for the scientific prove that keeps unfolding, and for the fact that god created us in his image! “ If you do not believe the bible is accurate enough, then studying it is useless for you. But, I tell you that it is extremely accurate! Now the deeper question is whether we want to be saved from our sins and be changed by God from the inside out. He did it for me and He will do it for you if you invite Him to! Pastor Glenn |

454 | Called and sent by God or just "went"? | Acts 6:5 | Pastor Glenn | 66503
Excellent. Very well said EdB. Here is another scripture that I left out: Romans 10:14How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" Pastor Glenn |

455 | Called and sent by God or just "went"? | Acts 6:5 | Pastor Glenn | 66448
Called and sent by God or just "went"? Is it important to wait for the leading of the Holy Spirit before entering the ministry? Or is it enough to just be born again and study the scriptures or both? Are the Old Testament scriptures like Jeremiah 14:14 related only to the prophets of old or are they relavant to ministers today? Here are some related scriptures: Acts 6:3Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business; Acts 8:29Then the Spirit said to Philip, "Go near and overtake this chariot." Isaiah 6:5 So I said: "Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, The LORD of hosts." 6Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from the altar. 7And he touched my mouth with it, and said: "Behold, this has touched your lips; Your iniquity is taken away, And your sin purged." 8Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: "Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?" Then I said, "Here am I! Send me." Jer 14:13Then I said, "Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, the prophets say to them, "You shall not see the sword, nor shall you have famine, but I will give you assured peace in this place."' 14And the LORD said to me, "The prophets prophesy lies in My name. I have not sent them, commanded them, nor spoken to them; they prophesy to you a false vision, divination, a worthless thing, and the deceit of their heart. 15Therefore thus says the LORD concerning the prophets who prophesy in My name, whom I did not send, and who say, "Sword and famine shall not be in this land'--"By sword and famine those prophets shall be consumed! 456 | Did Jesus suffer in hell when he died? | Luke 23:46 | Pastor Glenn | 66376
justme, You are right, the bible should not be shoved at anyone, but why do you shove CRI books at me? I have not disagreed that WOF is false doctrine. I have kindly asked you to tell me about the book as to whether or not it covers the scripture of Mark 9:38-41. Instead of responding to my question you jumped in on my response that was addressed to Hank and call me "stuburn and ignorant". You said, "...Hank has a more elequent way of saying in one sentence what takes me a page to do. " Well, all the more reason to let Hank answer his own posts. Pastor Glenn |

457 | Did Jesus suffer in hell when he died? | Luke 23:46 | Pastor Glenn | 66375
Joe, You said, "...You are likening a Christian ministry to the Pharisees and to those who hate and oppose God. " No, I was likening CRI with Paul's christian ministry and how he was careful not to oppose God by speaking evil of the high priest. Please read Ray's post here if you do not understand: "...When the high priest Ananias commanded someone to stike Paul on the mouth, Paul was led to speak out against him, not knowing that he was God's high priest. So in a sense he was fighting aginst God and so he said, "I was not aware, brethren, that he was high priest; for it is written, "You shall not speak evil of a ruler of your people." So he pursued a different argument. ..." We all need to be careful of what spirit we are of: Luke 9:54And when His disciples James and John saw this, they said, "Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, just as Elijah did?" 55But He turned and rebuked them, and said, "You do not know what manner of spirit you are of. 56For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men's lives but to save them." And they went to another village. James 1:19 So then,[1] my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; 20for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God. Pastor Glenn |

458 | Did Jesus suffer in hell when he died? | Luke 23:46 | Pastor Glenn | 66366
justme, You said "...Perhaps being a pastor they might give you a bookand much materials! For me, at this point you are looking rather stuborn and ignorant. Two qualities that will retard your ministry and wind up limiting you on how to defend your faith against false teachers. You deceide for your self. I don't think I am making any headway with you on this. I would like you to see the truth crisp and clear. Perhaps you fail to see you have cloudy spiritual vision. I wont bother you to bring pearls up again. justme" "...stuborn and ignorant..."? Well, the only book that is really worth shoving at someone is the bible "pearls" itself. If you accept only those that agree with everything you say and every book that you like, then you have a problem. This is the "studybibleforum", not the "CRIforum". Pastor Glenn |

cwade, After reading your personal profile, I pray that more of us on this forum will grow up to have the same prayers for this forum as you do. Your profile ouses with love and meekness. Some measure whether other christians' growth by how well others follow their doctrine, but the scriptures say to measure it by our level of love and the fruit that we bare. (I like pasting related scriptures directly into my posts, rather than counting on the readers to have time to look them up): 1 John 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 9In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. 10In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. This scripture is very humbling when we start to get lifted up in pride. We can often stray by thinking that our religion, denomination, or great biblical knowledge sets us above everyone else. But I like what Paul said: Philippians 3 3For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh, 4though I also might have confidence in the flesh. If anyone else thinks he may have confidence in the flesh, I more so: 5circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of the Hebrews; concerning the law, a Pharisee; 6concerning zeal, persecuting the church; concerning the righteousness which is in the law, blameless. 7But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. 8Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ 9and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; 10that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, 11if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead. God Bless, Pastor Glenn |
