361 | Why angels are not forgiven? | 2 Pet 2:4 | Pastor Glenn | 86493
Thank you Emmaus, As Mommapbs said, these are good things to ponder. As we consider them in light of scripture, I think that we may gain more insight into related scriptures. As the old time hyme says "We will understand it better by and by." 1Co 13:9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. 1Co 13:10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. 1Co 13:11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 1Co 13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. 363 | Why angels are not forgiven? | 2 Pet 2:4 | Pastor Glenn | 86468
Mommapbs, This is an excellent question. I do not think that the bible gives a direct answer. However, to add to Scribes good answer, I will try to give my opinion based on scripture also. 1. Notice that man is saved from sin by the death of Christ on the cross. But, we still do not escape physical death. Our physical bodies die with our corruption, while our spirit lives on without corruption. Revelation 14:13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them. 2. The cross does not save our corrupted physical bodies. 1Co 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. 3. The angels were created spirits only, they had no other nature. While they are temporarily transformed into physical beings, they can not die physically. Luke 20:36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection. 4. The sinning angels' corruption is contained in their spiritual essence. They have no alternate essence to contain their corruption. 1Co 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. 5. Christ cannot die spiritually, as is required to die for spirit beings. 1Peter 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: 6. Even if Christ could die spiritually, He would be required to become “part of” , as well as, die for each angel separately, since they were created separately, as opposed to our human family tree from Adam. Christ became part of our human family tree (this was required). Hebrews 10:10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. 7. Especially in my opinion: God’s mercy was not extended to angels that sinned , since they were in heaven with no room for doubt. Their sin of pride and rebellion amounted to attempting to rob a bank in the very presence of the Judge, jury, and police. Could they ever truly repent without biding their time while seeking an opportunity to rebel again a few million years or so later? I invite anyone to feel free to shoot down my statements. I could easily be wrong. Pastor Glenn |

364 | Prove all things hold fast to the good.. | 1 Cor 15:1 | Pastor Glenn | 86272
Goodnewsminister, Luke 12 4"I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more. 5But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after the killing of the body, has power to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him. You said: “Yes, fear Him, God, Who IS ABLE, to DESTROY [not preserve alive, but to utterly destroy] BOTH soul [hum? I thought it was IMMORTAL? Guess not!] and body in HELL!" If the soul is not immortal then how will anyone be TRULY resurrected? Will a new copy be made of us? This would be difficult to explain to identical twins that have the exact same DNA. How do you reconcile this with scripture without first recognizing the immortal soul in scripture? Jesus said that when God said that He IS (not “was”) the "God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob" He was implying that God is not the God of the dead, but of the living. But by your interpretation they do not presently exist. This would make Christ’s statement meaningless. You said: "Yes, God is ABLE to DO what you have been misTaught namely, He CAN and WILL DESTORY, not preserve alive, BOTH soul and body in HELL! The Greek word used here is Gehenna, the Jews to whom our Lord was speaking knew where this place was, as it was a reference to the Valley of Hinnom just outside of Jerusalem's walls where the dead carcasses of condemn criminals and the trash of the city was thrown and to which fire and brimstone were added to keep the flames burning and whatever the fire did not DESTROY, the maggot ate for food. “ No. The Jews recognized the need to bury the dead. The dead represented a higher level of uncleanness. The land bought for Judas was used for unknown graves: Mat 27:7 And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter's field, to bury strangers in. Mat 27:8 Wherefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day. You said: “They well knew that this represented UTTER and EVERLASTING DESTRUCTION, as the one's thrown there were UNFIT for a memorial tomb, symbolic of their not being worthy of a burial tomb because they were thought to be unworthy of a resurrection." Wrong, this did not just "represent" everlasting destruction, it IS everlasting destruction. Destroy is as in everlasting torment: Mat 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: How can the ordinary fire of a trash heap hurt the devil and his angels’ spirits. And by your misinterpretation, what is the point in casting people into the lake of “everlasting” fire: Rev 20:13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. Rev 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. Rev 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Mar 9:43 And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Mar 9:44 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. Mar 9:45 And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Mar 9:46 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. Mar 9:47 And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: Mar 9:48 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. How is it that “death and hell” were both cast into the lake of fire? This is not our “churches” misinterpretation. But rather, these are many scriptures teach the immortal soul and everlasting torment that you fail to explain. Pastor Glenn |

365 | How does this scripture fit your message | 1 Cor 15:1 | Pastor Glenn | 86134
Goodnewsminister, How does this scripture fit into your message? Luke 12 4"I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more. 5But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after the killing of the body, has power to throw you into hell. 366 | Prove all things hold fast to the good.. | 1 Cor 15:1 | Pastor Glenn | 86038
Goodnewsminister, While most of us agree that the Good News Gospel is the best, but it is incomplete without also proclaiming the consequences (hell fire). For many of the wicked Jesus spoke of the sign of the prophet Jonah: Matthew 12:39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: Matthew 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. Matthew 12:41 The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here. Matthew 16:4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed. Remember Jonah's message: Jonah 3:4 And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown. Where was the Good News? God revealed the Good news to their hearts as they repented: Jonah 3:5 So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them. 6 For word came unto the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he laid his robe from him, and covered him with sackcloth, and sat in ashes. 7 And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water: 8 But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily unto God: yea, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands. 9 Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not? 10 And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not. Goodnewsminister, if there are no consequences for sin, then how do you explain these scriptures concerning the fear of the Lord? Psalm 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do His commandments. His praise endures forever. Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction. Proverbs 9:10 "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. The consequences (hell) cannot be left out of the message. 47And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire-- 48where "Their worm does not die And the fire is not quenched. [Isaiah 66:24] Jeremiah 23 16Thus says the LORD of hosts: "Do not listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you. They make you worthless; They speak a vision of their own heart, Not from the mouth of the LORD. 17They continually say to those who despise Me, "The LORD has said, "You shall have peace"'; And to everyone who walks according to the dictates of his own heart, they say, "No evil shall come upon you."' 367 | she brought forth her children? | Is 66:12 | Pastor Glenn | 85632
jbw, Very good answer from Scribe. “This whole chapter is one to meditate on often. It is an example of the type of passages in the prophets that are the foundation for the scriptures in the New Testament. This prophecy is all about the conversion of the Gentiles through the Man Child that would be born in Israel, the relationship of Jerusalem to the church, both in it’s origins and it’s heritage, and the coming of judgment upon those that rejected the Lord, with the glorification of the church before their eyes. This chapter covers big picture thinking concerning the plan of God from the birth of Christ, the beginning of the church which came about as it were in a day with Pentecost and the future creation of a new heaven and earth. The beginning of the chapter is all about how that God is not pleased with the legal works of the Jew but is seeking the humble repentant heart of faith instead, and will accept such a heart whether found in Jew or Gentile.” I think that Isaiah 54 might be a companion to this chapter to meditate on. What I like about these kinds of scripture is how they add enormous credibility to the scriptures against the skeptics that try to say that the scriptures were made up by men. While the Jews were hostile towards the Gospel message of Jesus Christ, they had no reason to embed the Gospel of “salvation to the Gentiles” throughout the Hebrew scriptures. So the presence of "hostile witnesses" is very important to tying the old testament together with the new testament. Therefore, the only explaination is that the entire Christian bible of 66 books, written by over 40 secretaries over a time span of over 1400 years, was motivated not by men, but by the single mind of God! 368 | The "short " ending of Mark? | Mark 16:8 | Pastor Glenn | 85440
JRM, The accepted key verse of the entire book of Mark is: 10:45 For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. Christ's servanthood had been accomplished and Mark had shown this. While this was the first Gospel written, the full story was well known from the testimony of many living witnesses, including these same women of Mark 16. First Corinthians has the full resurrection story and was already written even before this gospel: 1Co 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 1Co 15:4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: 1Co 15:5 And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: 1Co 15:6 After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. 1Co 15:7 After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. 1Co 15:8 And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. 1Co 15:9 For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. Writing books was not cheap or easy even for a hand written copy. Paul shows how much he valued the books and parchments: 2Ti 4:11 Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry. 2Ti 4:12 And Tychicus have I sent to Ephesus. 2Ti 4:13 The cloke that I left at Troas with Carpus, when thou comest, bring with thee, and the books, but especially the parchments. This also shows that Mark was around a long time. There was plenty time to publish an update of his Gospel and there is nothing wrong with that, so I would not discredit the long version. As for the snake handlers, they should do some rethinking whether or not they accept the long version of Mark. However, they still have similar scripture in Luke 10. Pastor Glenn |

369 | The "short " ending of Mark? | Mark 16:8 | Pastor Glenn | 85329
JRM, I wanted to address your points. 1) how can this gospel account be read in harmony with the others (as historical accounts)? Verses 9-20 of Mark 16 are bracketed in NU-Text as not original. They are lacking in Codex Sinaiticus and Codex Vaticanus, although nearly all the other manuscripts of Mark contain them. (NU-Text These variations from the traditional text generally represent the Alexandrian or Egyptian type of text, as found in the twenty-sixth edition of the Nestle-Aland Greek New Testament (N) and the United Bible Societies' third edition (U), hence the acronym, "NU-Text".) The above information is from my study bible. (Life Application Bible, Tyndale) I admit that there are definite differences between the four Gospel accounts. But, these differences enhance the truth of the heart of the story: Jesus rose from the grave and showed Himself alive to many witnesses. If the accounts were too much alike the skeptics would say "collusion"! 2) in terms of the message the gospel contains (as a narrative), why would so many copies end with the bleak ending? "bleak"??? The man who was called the Messiah, Christ, the Holy one of Israel had just risen from the dead! What do you see as bleak? 3) what do you make of the textual authority of the longer versions? (After all, we hold the "original autographs" to be authoritative, no?) As long as we are made aware of the longer and shorter versions we can have a better view of the entire story. We still do not know whether the original secretary returned to finish the job or what. I also like to see italic words that were not in original so that we are free to compare the meaning of verses after praying. Notice also how Nicodemus (John 3) did not understand the concept of being born again after studying and memorizing the scriptures all his life from the original Hebrew documents. Scripture also speaks of those that are dull of hearing and seeing. We must deal with the glaring imperfections in our hearts before we can really understand God's word. John 3:9 Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be? John 3:10 Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things? John 3:11 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness. John 3:12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things? Matthew 13:15 For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. Acts 28:27 For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. Hebrews 5:11 Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing. There is more manuscript support for the New Testament than for any other body of ancient literature. Over five thousand Greek, eight thousand Latin, and many more manuscripts in other languages attest to the integrity of the new testament. Pastor Glenn |

370 | Why the God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob? | Gen 50:24 | Pastor Glenn | 85233
beva, I like Jesus' answer as He biblically proves the doctrine of resurrection of the dead: Mark 12 26But concerning the dead, that they rise, have you not read in the book of Moses, in the burning bush passage, how God spoke to him, saying, "I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'?[3] 27He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living. You are therefore greatly mistaken." |

371 | Creation Account: Mythical or Not? | Gen 1:27 | Pastor Glenn | 85226
Hank, You are expressing very wise reasoning as you expressed the subtle dangers of "mythical" interpretations. You Conclude: "... We cannot know whether there was any such thing as a serpent who beguiled Eve, or that Eve even existed. We have no historical proof of Eden or the fall of Adam and Eve. Without any reliable account of the fall, therefore, the doctrine of original sin falls apart and with it the idea that we need a savior, thus making Christ's death on the cross superfluous. ..... So which is it? The account of creation is real, factual, historical, true -- or it is mythical, allegorical, fictitious. Does it make more sense to take God at His word and to believe that what He says is the way it is, or to invent ways of explaining away the things we don't understand or feel uncomfortable with or just flatly refuse to believe or accept? " I wanted to point out that "details" such as the subtleness of the serpent are easily ignored while using the mindset of a "mythical" Garden of Eden. We need to see the dangers of the subtleness of sin and the unacceptable doubt that a non-literal Garden of Eden story brings also. We are warned of this by many scriptures: Proverbs 7:10 And, behold, there met him a woman with the attire of an harlot, and subtil of heart. Matthew 26:4 And consulted that they might take Jesus by subtilty, and kill him. Acts 7:19 The same dealt subtilly with our kindred, and evil entreated our fathers, so that they cast out their young children, to the end they might not live. Acts 13:10 And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord? 2 Corinthians 11:3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. 372 | Studying O.T. is creating problems. | Genesis | Pastor Glenn | 84911
More clean animals were needed for sacrifice so more were saved. God did not say "ONLY" two, that would have indeed been a contradiction. "Two" is included in "seven", so this is not at all a contradiction. Gen 7 2You shall take with you seven each of every clean animal, a male and his female; two each of animals that are unclean, a male and his female; 3also seven each of birds of the air, male and female, to keep the species alive on the face of all the earth. Gen 8 20 Then Noah built an altar to the LORD, and took of every clean animal and of every clean bird, and offered burnt offerings on the altar. The question of who bought the field is not a problem either. It is well understood how others can perform tasks for someone else acting as their agent, especially if they are disabled or dead. Mat 27 5Then he threw down the pieces of silver in the temple and departed, and went and hanged himself. 6But the chief priests took the silver pieces and said, "It is not lawful to put them into the treasury, because they are the price of blood." 7And they consulted together and bought with them the potter's field, to bury strangers in. 8Therefore that field has been called the Field of Blood to this day. 9Then was fulfilled what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet, saying, "And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the value of Him who was priced, whom they of the children of Israel priced, 10and gave them for the potter's field, as the LORD directed me."[Jeremiah 32:6-9] Acts 1 16"Men and brethren, this Scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus; 17for he was numbered with us and obtained a part in this ministry." 18(Now this man purchased a field with the wages of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst open in the middle and all his entrails gushed out. 19And it became known to all those dwelling in Jerusalem; so that field is called in their own language, Akel Dama, that is, Field of Blood.) 20"For it is written in the Book of Psalms: "Let his dwelling place be desolate, And let no one live in it';[Psalm 69:25] The question is really of whoses name went on the deed to the property. Who would doubt that it was Judas' name on the deed. Pastor Glenn |

373 | Studying O.T. is creating problems. | Genesis | Pastor Glenn | 84899
FreeThinker, I wanted to point out the vast time of 100 years between God's instructions of Gen 6 and Gen 7. Gen 5 32And Noah was five hundred years old, and Noah begot Shem, Ham, and Japheth. But it was only 7 days before the flood that God gave detailed instructions. Gen 7 6Noah was six hundred years old when the floodwaters were on the earth. This shows the poor judgement of the skeptics that see this as a contradiction. It should be expected that more detail be given a century later as the end was upon them. I am not looking for your reponse to this post as much as I am looking forward to your response to the book suggested by Mommapbs. I also wanted to suggest listening to a Real Player message from a former skeptic at the following link: http://www.johnankerberg.org/RealMedia/ja20000528-rd1.ram This site is also a very good resource for many bible questions: http://www.johnankerberg.org Hope this helps, Pastor Glenn |

374 | Pure joy in Heaven? | Rev 7:9 | Pastor Glenn | 84743
FreeThinker, Emmaus made a very interesting comment: "How do you know Jesus does not make Himself known to them at the moment of their death and let them make a decision? It is still through Jesus." The revelation of Jesus (the Gospel) in the Old Testament was vailed. But by faith Jesus did make Himself known. Job spoke of his Redeemer: Job 19 25 I know that my Redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand upon the earth. 26 And after my skin has been destroyed, yet [5] in [6] my flesh I will see God; 27 I myself will see him with my own eyes-I, and not another. How my heart yearns within me! He revealed Himself to Samuel: 1 Samuel 3 7 Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD : The word of the LORD had not yet been revealed to him. ... 10 The LORD came and stood there, calling as at the other times, "Samuel! Samuel!" Then Samuel said, "Speak, for your servant is listening." ... 21 The LORD continued to appear at Shiloh, and there he revealed himself to Samuel through his word. See also Romans 4 and Hebrews 11-12. It was not through proof that God made himself known, but through faithful reponse to His word. How could it be any other way? Didn't Adam and Eve have all the proof they needed, and also Lucifer? Criminals "know" that police exist, but the state of sin they have does not stop their criminal behavior. What is better, reponse to "proof" or reponse to "faith"? You remind me of Ateo. If you are he then I am still looking into your questions and plan to get back to you. Also, keep going to church. Try to find a knowledgable friend that will not mind answering your questions in person. Pastor Glenn |

375 | By the bible, is nuclear winter possible | Gen 8:22 | Pastor Glenn | 84419
Hank, Your statement "Darwin's godless theory" is the key to man's acceptance of it. I am always glad to read your faithful words of acceptance of God's great wisdom. Man refuses to accept God's plan and promises: Isaiah 55 7 Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the LORD , and he will have mercy on him, and to our God, for he will freely pardon. 8 "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD . 9 "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. 376 | By the bible, is nuclear winter possible | Gen 8:22 | Pastor Glenn | 84397
Just Read Mark, Actually I simply asked a question: Is this a promise that "global warming", "nuclear winter" or other disasters will never have the devastation that some scientists predict? "Wow: what a frightening conversation. I do not think the Bible is to be read in this way." But Jesus said "...do not be troubled...": Mark 13 7But when you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be troubled; for such things must happen, but the end is not yet. 8For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and troubles.[1] These are the beginnings of sorrows. "What are you suggesting: that we don't need to fear nuclear proliferation, because the Bible says life will go on? " No, I am not suggesting that we don't need to fear nuclear proliferation, but "this scripture" does comfort us by promising a limit to the devastation. "Christians need to be active and engaged in these moral issues of our time -- not lulled to sleep. " I totally agree. "Perhaps the Genesis text is to assure us that, in taking action, this world can be made better than it is. " I disagree. It is always true that "in taking action, this world can be made better than it is.". However, Remember what has just taken place in this scripture context. The world had just been destroyed by the great flood due to man's violence. God then promises these limits on future destruction: Genesis 8:22 "While the earth remains, Seedtime and harvest, Cold and heat, Winter and summer, And day and night Shall not cease." "... we are called to be active, to serve, and to suffer for others." I agree with this also. Pastor Glenn |

377 | Why God only help Israeal people? | Gal 3:8 | Pastor Glenn | 83298
Figoyuen, This is a very good question. I see from your previous posts here that you are a new Christian. I will try to answer your question. May the Lord help me to give you understanding. God's plan to send Jesus the Christ (the Messiah) into the world required a man of faith to become the father of a Kingdom of Priests to lead the world to God: Exodus 19 5 Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine. 6 And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.' These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel." They were also required to birth the Messiah to save the world from their sins. God always had the whole world in mind for salvation. He wanted Israel to be the leaders through His personal agreements (covenant) with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (who was renamed to "Israel"). Genesis 28 12Then he dreamed, and behold, a ladder was set up on the earth, and its top reached to heaven; and there the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. 13And behold, the LORD stood above it and said: "I am the LORD God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie I will give to you and your descendants. 14Also your descendants shall be as the dust of the earth; you shall spread abroad to the west and the east, to the north and the south; and in you and in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed. 15Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you." Romans 4:9 Does this blessedness then come upon the circumcised only, or upon the uncircumcised also? For we say that faith was accounted to Abraham for righteousness. Romans 4:12 and the father of circumcision to those who not only are of the circumcision, but who also walk in the steps of the faith which our father Abraham had while still uncircumcised. Romans 4:13 For the promise that he would be the heir of the world was not to Abraham or to his seed through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. Romans 4:16 Therefore it is of faith that it might be according to grace, so that the promise might be sure to all the seed, not only to those who are of the law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all Galatians 3:7 Therefore know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham. Galatians 3:8 And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, "In you all the nations shall be blessed."[3:8 Genesis 12:3; 18:18; 22:18; 26:4; 28:14] Galatians 3:9 So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham. Galatians 3:14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. Hebrews 11:8 By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. Hebrews 11:17 By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, As Christians we are hiers to the promises with a better covenant through Jesus Christ: 1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; I hope these scriptures help, Pastor Glenn |

Piper, You asked: "Am I missing anything?" It is not easy to put God's plan of Salvation into a lengthy step by step list. Here are more key scriptures. Godly Sorrow: 2 Corinthians 7 8For even if I made you sorry with my letter, I do not regret it; though I did regret it. For I perceive that the same epistle made you sorry, though only for a while. 9Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that your sorrow led to repentance. For you were made sorry in a godly manner, that you might suffer loss from us in nothing. 10For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death. 11For observe this very thing, that you sorrowed in a godly manner: What diligence it produced in you, what clearing of yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what vehement desire, what zeal, what vindication! In all things you proved yourselves to be clear in this matter. Faith comes by hearing: Romans 10 8But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart"[5] (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11For the Scripture says, "Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame."[6] 12For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. 13For "whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved."[7] 14 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? 15And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace,[8] Who bring glad tidings of good things!"[9] 16But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, "LORD, who has believed our report?"[10] 17So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Pastor Glenn |

Piper, You asked: " Is repentence the 3rd or 4th thing you have to do to be saved. Does it come before or after baptism? " Repentance is the first thing you have to do to be saved and so comes before baptism: Mark 1:4 John came baptizing in the wilderness and preaching a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. Luke 3:3 And he went into all the region around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins, Luke 24:47 and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. Acts 2:38 Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
