1 | Is Jesus being called God or a God? | Not Specified | Noveta | 129632
I have been talking to a Jehovah's Witnesses. We were discussing Hebrews 1. I was trying to point out the diety of Christ in Hebrews 1-9. As you know parts of this scripture reference the Psalms 45. My questions is: If the Psalms is addressing the king. Is the Psalms calling the king God. as in Hebrews. The Jehovah's Witnesses, say even though the king is being called a god doesn't mean he is the One True God as it in in Hebrews. He says that Jesus is being referenced as a God but not the one True God. Saying that God in this context means a God. And he goes on to say how can God, Your God ..be one in the same? |

4 | One God, One Jesus Christ | Not Specified | Noveta | 130213
I found this question in the post. It was not answered.. Or I did not see one. Can I please get a response for this? Do you ridicule the apostle Paul? 1 Cor 8:5,6 states: "For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as indeed there are many "gods" and many "lords"), yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live." There is only one God (with a capital G) the Father Jehovah. |

6 | A well balanced church | Not Specified | Noveta | 132847
I have been searching for a well balanced church for years. Right now I am attending a baptist church. I have studied many religions and I am trying to stay with a church that believes in essential Christian doctrine, like the trinity, bodily resurrection ..etc. I thought I found a church, in fact, I still think this church is a good church. But what if the pastor supports another pastor that you know does not believe in essential Christian doctrine. Should this be something that I concern myself with. No man is perfect, not even a pastor. I know the bible has rules for a church leader. Right? The pastor he is supporting is a word of faith pastor who clearly doesn't believe in the trinity. |

7 | Jesus in the flesh | Not Specified | Noveta | 132848
I have a question, regarding the following scripture: 1 John 1Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world. What is meant by Jesus coming in the flesh. Does it mean, Jesus in human form? Many religions, teachers, leaders, people believe this but they have different views as to what he came as and what he left as. |

11 | What is considered an Idol | Not Specified | Noveta | 140556
This scripture says clearly In Exodus 20:3-5, God gives Israel this command: "You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God." How do you justify wearing a cross? It clearly says do not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the either beneath or in the waers below. If I wear a cross I know in my heart I am not wearing it as an idol. And the is the point I try to make, even though this is a symbol that is in the form of something in heaven, I am not idolizing it. Meaning I am not placing it before God. However, I have to continuously explain myself to people who don't understand, which is okay. I just want to make sure I am correct. To me it is a symbol that reminds me what Christ has done for me. But some people feel I am going against God's commandment and it causes confusion. To me it welcomes communication and my chance to explain God's grace and his plan for our salvation. Is that any other scripture that says people have created heavenly symbols and it was okay with GOD. |

12 | GOD gives Jesus the power to save? | Not Specified | Noveta | 151494
I was reading some commentaries on the bible and it stated "He is the only man who is now the Mediator between God and mankind (1 Tim. 2:5). It is Jesus Christ to whom God has given the power to “save to the uttermost” all who call upon his name, because he ever lives to make intercession for us (Heb. 7:25)." I believe that Jesus is GOD. For the most part I have many scriptures that support it. However, I sometimes run across some that I need explanation. For example the above one says GOD gave the power to save. Is this a correct commentary to say GOD gave Jesus. Since Jesus is GOD how is he given the power to save? I thought he always had that power. There were just many prophecies that need to be fulfilled before it was "actualized". Noveta |

13 | Sons of God | Not Specified | Noveta | 159769
I do aplogize, I know this question has been asked before. But I am torn by two interpretations of the same scripture. Genesis 6. Who are the sons of God? While it makes perfect sense they are talking about angels because of the chapters in Job 1:6 and Job 2:1, and Job 38:4. Then there is also support in the new II Peter 2:4. However in Job they are not talking about fallen angels. But ofcourse they are not fallen in Genesis until they commited the sin? But then there is interpretation that tries to approach the scripture with logic. Saying to read chapters 4 and 5 of Genesis, they must be talking about Seth and Cain. Seth being the sons of God and the daughters of men being from Cain. Then there is the idea that spirits don't have sex and do not marry. I know in Matthew when Jesus mentions this is not talking about sex, but sex is the gift (or suppose to be ) that is after marriage? Which using reason, that makes sense to me. |

14 | John 10:31 | Not Specified | Noveta | 163011
Hello everyone, I am have tried to search before asking this question, but am not successful. I am reading the book of John and in Chapter 10. I would like someone to explain to me what does it mean to blaspheme. From what I have found, if you disrespect or break any of the laws of the ten commandments or if you have disrespected the Holy spirit? However in John 10:31 they are accusing Jesus to blaspheme because he is saying he is God and he is God's son correct? . 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. 30 I and my Father are one. 31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him. 32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me? 33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God. 34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? 35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken; 36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God? 37 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. 38 But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him. Also, I do not understand Jesus response, "Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? 35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken" What does he mean, written in your law,Ye are gods? God bless Novie |

16 | Jesus or Immanuel | Not Specified | Noveta | 164475
This verse Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. Isaiah 7:14 But Jesus name is not Immanuel. I have asked this question before and someone told me that you go by the meaning of Immanuel not the name itself. Is there a book that is easy to read that will allow me to understand the historical background of Hebrew scripture and history. To me this goes beyond Bible interpretation. Because if any new Christian reads the Bible would say Isaiah mentions Immanuel? I have been told there is historical evidence that Jesus existed, but I have never really searched for it myself. People are asking me this questions, how do I respond, if I have never researched it myself. |

17 | Sick for 38 years | Not Specified | Noveta | 177203
One of the things that is a Christian's biggest challenge is proving that the bible is embedded in real history. That it really happen, but some of the stories seem so hard to believe or shall i say prove. I believe in the bible and I believe it is the word of GOD, I want to beable to support every aspect of it correctly or as best I can to any non-believer. For example, John 5 says "1Afterward Jesus returned to Jerusalem for one of the Jewish holy days. 2Inside the city, near the Sheep Gate, was the pool of Bethesda,[a] with five covered porches. 3Crowds of sick people--blind, lame, or paralyzed--lay on the porches.[b] 5One of the men lying there had been sick for thirty-eight years. 6When Jesus saw him and knew how long he had been ill, he asked him, "Would you like to get well?" How can some be lying there 38 years? That doesn't seem like reality. How can you explain that to someone? God Bless and thanks in advance for your comments. |

20 | After his own kind | Bible general Archive 3 | Noveta | 160714
I have read most of the comments that stemmed from my question. Your statement is the reason why I can't believe that there were "fallen angels" and human woman having children. From what I can understand we have free will right, so if these angels did such a thing what would stop it from happening again. Also if the angels mixed with the women, why in the following verses it states the men became wicked. If you read the entire story in context it makes more sense to me that these great "giants" were godly men that mixed with ungodly women and became evil. GOD was not pleased and then destroyed them. I am trying to learn how to intepret the Bible. I have been told that you interpret scripture against scripture. But just because you use a phrase in one book of the Bible (for instance Job uses the sons of God to mean angels) doesn't necessarily mean the same phrase is used the same way in another part of the bible. You have to read the context and compare context with context. If one scripture is referring to something in context and it also refering to the same thing "in context" then yes it would mean the samething. (correct?). Another example would be when I first read Gen 5:24 I did not understand what was meant by "And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him". It was not until I read Heb 11:5 that I understood by faith he did not see death. |
