Don't forget repentance, that is a big factor. You have to turn your life around from sin, be reborn.
544 | What is eternal life? What is saved? | John 6:37 | Norrie | 15292
Tim, I know of a similar situation. A person on another forum had about the same story as your bil but he also was a musician and played w/many of the Christian artists too, claimed he was baptized in the spirit, was Christian all the way, but now is a pagan priest and a homosexual. I'd say that is a case of throwing away salvation. There are those that say, well, he was never REALLY saved, but how do we know? He claimed he was, he confessed it. But now he has a different confession and puts down Christianity every chance he gets. Then on other forums, you run across many people w/the same story who are rabid Christian haters now but claim to have been Christians at one time. I have run across some real loonies on other forums, make your blood curl.

Thank you very much! What you said made a lot of sense. I guess I never looked at it with that verse. :)
546 | jesus is man | John 10:29 | Norrie | 11165
Isa, this will be something to comtemplate, you'll have to use your imagination, I heard a sermon preached on this on how it could be. Remember what I said about the Trinity? There is one God, a Trinity, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The Heart of God is the Father; the face of the Father is unveiled by the Son/Word; the Voice of God is heard thru the Holy Spirit. Suppose before God created man, He and Jesus are together and God says I really want to make man, Jesus says but he'll fall, he will have to be redeemed, God says I know, but I really want to make man, Jesus says, OK, if you really want this, then let's do it, I'll pay the price. Jesus is/was/always will be God, He is part of the Trinity. He left His home in Heaven to come to earth as a mere man in order to pay the sin penalty for us because no man would be able to pay that price because a man would have to be sinless and that is impossible for man. So God the Son took on being a man to pay the price for our sin, He had no sin, He did this entirely for us! I know it's a hard concept to grasp, that God would become man for us, but He did! He was still God the Son, he just took on human body for us. I guess if anything, you might could say He left His divinity to become man, then He gained His divinity back when He rose from the death, when He defeated death, hell and the grave. Remember, this was the plan from the beginning of time, but there was no guarantee it would work, but it did, Satan was defeated and Jesus is Lord of all!!! |

547 | Bad Arguments Against Calvinism | John 15:16 | Norrie | 37861
We were talking about this in Sun School. What does election mean, what is predestination vs predetermined. I think that all are elected, it's like an invitation to a party, all are invited but all do not choose to come.
548 | Please explain John 19:27 | John 19:26 | Norrie | 107937
His brothers are mentioned several times, one being Matt 13:55.
549 | Who anointed Jesus' body? | John 19:40 | Norrie | 49913
I thought Jesus didn't get a proper anointing, that is why when the woman at Bethany anointed Him, He said leave her alone and that she'd be remembered for it.

552 | Col. 2:16 and Sabbath Keeping | Acts | Norrie | 18878
Why was this under questions? Anyway, excellent answer. We've been debating that question on another group too and that is a major point! :)
553 | Communion question? | Acts 1:1 | Norrie | 94482
Maybe they want to be sure nonchristians don't participate and that way they know.
554 | Is there a difference in being baptized | Acts 2:38 | Norrie | 32933
A man dies and goes to Heaven. Of course, St. Peter meets him at the Pearly Gates. St. Peter says, "Here's how it works. You need 100 points to make it into heaven. You tell me all the good things you've done, and I give you a certain number of points for each item, depending on how good it was. When you reach 100 points, you get in." "Okay," the man says, "I was married to the same woman for 50 years and never cheated on her, even in my heart." "That's wonderful," says St. Peter, "that's worth three points!" "Three points?" he says, slightly concerned. "Well, I attended church all my life and supported its ministry with my tithe and service." "Terrific!" says St. Peter. "That's certainly worth a point." "One point!?!" he moans, now really getting worried. "Well, I started a soup kitchen in my city and worked in a shelter for homeless veterans." "Fantastic, that's good for two more points," he says. "Two points!" the man cries. "At this rate the only way I get into Heaven is by the grace of God!" St. Peter nods and says, "Bingo! 100 points! Come on in my son!" |

Funny, I remember learning that as I went to Cath school...oh yeah, that's right, they keep changing what they believe all the time now so they don't even know any more. :) I remember all of a sudden, there was no more purgatory, no more praying to Mary, etc. Then I went to a funeral which just happened to be the former church of my cousin, the priest. I took a collection of phamplets from there as evidence that they still have their novenas to Mary, still had indelgences, etc. Nat. I lost them now tho. But the point it, they say one thing but actually do another, it's called good PR. |

I've always wondered why the Cath. who truly are saved would want to stay there knowing the lies and apostasy the RCC has fostered thruout the ages. I know many saved Cath too, but how can they stay there after they understand the Bible?
557 | difference Christian and catholic | Acts 11:26 | Norrie | 50977
Revelation knowledge that Jesus was the Son of God, that's what the Church is built on. Jesus is the Head of the Church, not Peter or any other Pope. They are head of a particular denomination, but Jesus heads His own Church.
558 | difference Christian and catholic | Acts 11:26 | Norrie | 51224
But I do understand the Cath faith. I was born and raised a Cath, I went to Cath school, Daddy's first cousin is a priest, Mama had a great uncle who was an archbishop. I was a good Cath until priest started telling us in religion class about Bible is a myth, just to compete w/mythology. I was already feeling effects of Vat II at the time and questioning what I was taught. By the time I was 20, I had decided it was all a crock, RCC was a crock, there was no Jesus, Bible was a crock and was a heathen until I got saved another decade later. But I never knew about salvation as taught in the Bible and that's a lot of religion classes you go to every school day not to know a word. I knew all about mortal sin and veniel sin and indelgences and all the rituals, but Jesus was unreachable, that's why you had to ask Mary or saints to talk to him, after all, he can't be bothered w/likes of us! All RCC is is a lot of traditions of men and I suggest anyone who actually has met the real Jesus to find a better place because you are not going to change their minds. |

Accd to that, then since it was to the apostles He said that, then there is no forgiveness after they died. Also, were the people who are referred to as the church in Acts part of the RCC-I don't think so!

I always was taught the pope is infallible when speaking from the Chair of Peter. Even if he was thinking of saying one thing, when he spoke from the Chair, it came out correct. The popes were speaking from the Chair when they cannonized someone. So back when I was still at St. Monica's, they came out w/St Christopher didn't really exist so therefore he is not a saint. That got me thinking, if pope speaks from chair and declared him a saint, what's wrong w/this picture??? |
