482 | Roman guard myth? | Matt 28:11 | Norrie | 122355
I wasn't losing posts tho that has happened before, I just had none of those symbols but it was saying I was so post wouldn't go thru. Yesterday I had same verse from every translation on Gateway to show different meanings and it said those symbols were there. There were a few from copy and pasting but I got rid of them all, then it still said they were there and there wasn't...today I didn't go above the home keys period. I think any symbol on keyboard should be allowed. There are many good links tht can't be posted because of this too. I've always had that beef here. :)
483 | Only church members can be baptized? | Mark | Norrie | 64401
It's hard but not impossible to find a way to get baptized w/o church membership. I'd been a christian for about 7-8 yrs before I got baptized. No church would baptize me because I didn't want to join their church. I was praying about getting baptized. I went w/my aunt on a retreat and they did baptisms there, it was a non-denom place. They were going to use a creek but ended using a swimming pool that had been covered all winter...:)
484 | Unlawful to pick the heads of grain? | Mark 2:24 | Norrie | 16906
I heard my pastor preach on this one time. Seems it was just one of those man made rules the Pharisees were so famous for making, kinda like the one where you can't spit on the soil on the sabbath because that would be irrigation but you can spit on a rock. He had a list of ridiculous rules but I forget most of them. :)
485 | Blasphemy against Holy Spirit | Mark 3:30 | Norrie | 118990
I was just reading about this same topic on another forum. Accd to them, the greatest blasphemy is for a Christian to turn back away from Christ. I'd think if you did that, that would be the ultimate sin. Here's their discussion: -I have always believed, that a Jew or Gentile that is truly "born-again" and receives the Holy Spirit, is saved for eternity, but there does seem to be this exception. Once a Christian we all will continue to sin and struggle against the evil one, but Jesus hears our prayers and we have that armour of the Holy Spirit. If a true "falling away" from the faith occurs, it could be the one "unpardonable sin" since this behaviour would truly blashpheme the Holy Spirit. The scary thing is that these people will be lost forever based on the following doctrine, which makes sense since the Bible says nothing about being continually "reborn" over and over, and it wouldn 't since it would mock Jesus. It is hard to comprehend this as a Christian. I believe you can only be "born-again" once, which means the second death could come for those few that indeed "fall away". Very sad. Hebrews 6 4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, 5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, 6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. Luke 8 12 Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. 13 They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. 14 And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. 15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience. Hi Hank, I guess I should post your response to those guys and really get them going. :) Too bad ya'll can't all get together and thrash that out. :) If you want a link, let me know. :) |

487 | Blasphemy against Holy Spirit | Mark 3:30 | Norrie | 119003
I always heard pagans on these different forums say they were a Christian and turned away. These guys were discussing Christians who became Jews, that seems unconceivable either way. But if someone was a Christian and then said I reject being a Christian, that does seem worse than just rejecting to begin with to me. I guess I still struggle w/once saved, always saved because it seems so many have said I reject that once accepted and it seems that that is the only way you can become unsaved. Falling back into your sin is bad but as long as you don't flat out say I reject, seems you could always repent but otherwise, I'd think you are doomed. But what do I know? :) |

488 | Blasphemy against Holy Spirit | Mark 3:30 | Norrie | 119007
"Therefore, the fatal sin is the denial of the Holy Spirit's testimony to Jesus as Savior and Lord." What about the number of times someone rejects but ultimately does accept. I know before I accepted, I would say I was pretty blasphemous but I got saved later on. I would think that now if I decided I was wrong, this bull, I was taken, there is no Jesus/Holy Spirit, then it seems I'd be condemning myself for sure then. Say some christians may do this when the time comes for taking marks... |

489 | Blasphemy against Holy Spirit | Mark 3:30 | Norrie | 119055
Here's what Brett said-don't you love this double foruming: Norrie, I am not dogmatic about my interpretation, but I think Hank's scriptures quotes back up my point. If Hank is right, then I'm right. How can you blaspheme something you don't have or even understand? When you accept Jesus, He gives you the Holy Spirit for comfort and to be "taught all things". This would imply spiritual ignorance for those without the Holy Spirit. Why would any "non-believer" speak against "blaspheme" the Holy Spirit? To what end...for what purpose? Makes no sense. The non-believer is quite good at cursing God or saying J.C. at the drop of a hat...all forgivable. Have you EVER heard ANYONE in your life speak against the Holy Spirit? Of course not. That is because I believe it is an ACT...the one described in Hebrews 6:4. Whether or not Hank is right, or we're both right, is moot if we are believers. There is however a good 3rd possibility when you look up the meaning of blasphemy. It could also apply to those who exalt themselves as or above God...see #1b SYLLABICATION: blas·phe·my NOUN: Inflected forms: pl. blas·phe·mies 1a. A contemptuous or profane act, utterance, or writing concerning God or a sacred entity. b. The act of claiming for oneself the attributes and rights of God. 2. An irreverent or impious act, attitude, or utterance in regard to something considered inviolable or sacrosanct. Hank implies I have made up my mind and I'm finding scripture to back it up...on the contrary. I believe all 3 views mentioned have scriptural merit. Now look at Hanks verse Matt 12:31-32...then mine Hebrews 6:4-6. Notice there is NO repentance or forgiveness in both verses. They are a perfect fit! Matthew 12 31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. 32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come. And there you have it...accepted Christ...fell away...condemned to hell...CANNOT repent...obviously will never be forgiven.....UNFORGIVABLE SIN!!!!! I am openminded, but I believe my interpetation has scripural merit. |

Hank, what you say makes sense but on the other hand, I just have hard time reconciling all the pagans I've met online that claim to have been at one time Bible-beliving, spirit filled christians and turned away. We are saved thru faith, they believed they were, can they all have been mistaken about whether they were or weren't? And if they believe that they were saved but turned from their faith and flat out rejected, how can I know that I am strong in my faith? Would a better question be can one really believe they are truly saved and yet not have their name in the Book of Life? How can you truly know? There are people living like hell who truly believe they are saved because they walked the aisle and were baptized but they are def. showing no fruit, esp if they are sitting in jail. So how can you truly know if you really believe one thing but are believing wrongly? It sure seems complicated to me...
491 | Blasphemy against Holy Spirit | Mark 3:30 | Norrie | 119057
Sorry, Brett and Hank, I see Brett is now here so I won't have to double forum. :) But I do get confused by the pagans I've met online who really believe they were Bible believing Christians and just later decided they were wrong. I know Jesus said that about you did works in My Name but I never knew you, if you think you are saved and doing works in His Name but aren't, it seems such a waste...how can you know you're not one of these??? |

492 | Adam's rejection not blasphemy? | Mark 3:30 | Norrie | 119074
Maybe Adam's sin was more stupidity than outright rebellion???
493 | Blasphemy against Holy Spirit | Mark 3:30 | Norrie | 119075
Peter was more scared than actually making conscious effort to really reject, maybe that was the difference between Peter and those that say I truly reject all teaching I've had of Christ...but Jesus isn't Holy Spirit either so...Paul wasn't an example of someone who believed in Him, then left too, he just didn't believe to begin with. I hope you're right but somehow I think they may be more like those who get turned over to their base instincts thing then, like in Romans 1.
494 | Blasphemy against Holy Spirit | Mark 3:30 | Norrie | 119114
The main one that I've always wondered about became a full fledged pagan and he used to be involved w/CCM music before, played backup with many famous artists. This person really renounced Christianity. I've met several like that but this was the one I mostly was involved with, had many discussions, were great antagonists. This wasn't a skeptic, this was a definate renouncer. I haven't had dealing w/them in a long time, just always wonder about them...how can so many who claimed to be saved turn like that...that sure is a lot who just gave lip service but I guess today anything is possible. I don't fool w/skeptics much anymore. I may just give them the gospel, if they reject it, I don't fool w/them. If they are on a forum I moderate, I usually ban them, I don't want their garbage polluting my playground. I figure it is our responsibility to tell them but if they don't want to listen, I'm not casting pearls and I will not put up w/them scoffing and ridiculing. If that's all they want to do, do it someplace else. |

I'm glad you came back. I guess as they are pointing out here, you didn't say anything about the Holy Spirit specifically, thank God! I grew up Cath. so thought I was a Christian because that's what we were taught, but I never really accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior because I never knew about that. I guess when I became a heathen afterwards, I was mostly rejecting the RCC and their teaching because I didn't really know the Jesus of the Bible at all. I'll go read your testimony and thank you. :) |

496 | Blasphemy against Holy Spirit | Mark 3:30 | Norrie | 119124
From Brett. Our Delphi forums are easier to get around on. :) Norrie, I jumped onto that other forum last night late. I don't like it...hard to navigate and post. John 10 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. Again I agree with Hank on John 10:27-29 above, but he is missing the point. Yes, no man can pluck you away from Christ. However, you can pluck yourself away, by "falling away" on your own. Once you do this, you can NEVER seek repentance again. To do so would mock Jesus. You may seek repentance, but he will rebuke and not forgive you......UNFORGIVABLE SIN....case closed. Notice Jesus says he will give eternal life IF the sheep that hear his voice do what??? FOLLOW HIM. If you fall away and the Holy Ghost leaves you, you are NOT following him anymore....again, the UNFORGIVABLE SIN!!! See Hebrews 6:4-6, Luke 8:12-14. It is apparent based on doctrine that you MUST follow Jesus after accepting him. If you don't, the Holy Spirit may leave you. Why would he leave unless He was blasphemed? Once He does leave, the unforgivable sin has occurred. It is "impossible" to reverse this as we see below: Hebrews 6 4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, 5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, 6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. I hope this better explains it.....You can post this on the other forum if you think it has merit. I wonder what Judah's thoughts on this are! I would think the premediatation factor. , this wasn't no spur of the moment thing, and Adam kinda got caught up in the moment to me but what do I know. :) I have read a good novel about that recently tho. If you like to read Christian novels, Chronticles of the Host by D Brian Shafer were really good. |

Herod was the one who had John jailed. What did Jesus have to do w/that? Herod was the king, not Jesus.
