481 | DOES THE BIBLE TALK ABOUT CHRISTMAS TREE | Judg 4:4 | Norrie | 23434
I've heard that same argument about the Christmas tree before too. But look at it this way, it describes it pretty well. :)
482 | Rapture question? | 1 Thess 4:17 | Norrie | 23423
If 10 people on the plane were God fearing Christians who have accepted Jesus as Savior, they would have been raptured too. Everybody else is too bad, so sad, they had their opportunities and blew them. Look at all that's going on now. People die every day, many tragicly, that is why it's important not to put off that decision, no telling when a plane might crash into you.
483 | What does baptism consist? | 1 John 5:6 | Norrie | 23276
Baptism is what you do in obedience to God's Word to acknowledge that you are a professing follower of Jesus Christ. It just signifies you being reborn, it doesn't cause it. :) Only if you accepted Jesus as Savior causes you to be reborn. A Bible teacher brought this up last week. You know how there's the ongoing discussion about sprinkling or immersion? He said don't let it cause a division between different denom, don't start a fight w/your different denom friends, but when Phillip met the enouch in the desert and talked w/him, when they came to a body of water, the enouch wanted to be baptized. Now if sprinkling was OK, they wouldn't have been crossing a desert w/o water so if sprinkling was acceptable, why'd they wait to get to a body of water? That just shows immersion is the way to baptize. :) |

484 | Ruth, Naomi | Ruth 1:20 | Norrie | 23267
I'd like to recommend Francine River's novella about Ruth. I forgot the name of it but it will be easy to find, even in a public library usually. She has one about Ruth, Rahab, Tamar and Bathsheba, very interesting reading.
485 | The Day of Eve's Creation | Gen 2:22 | Norrie | 23063
What? Eve was created on day 6 too. Gen 2 is about day 6.
486 | Are new worship songs scripturally OK? | Bible general Archive 1 | Norrie | 22362
That is true that many old songs are unscriptural too. I guess the unscriptural music w/unscriptural words really raise a red light tho. :)
487 | Are new worship songs scripturally OK? | Bible general Archive 1 | Norrie | 22359
Don't let the name throw you, it has all kinds of good discussions, check it out.

Check out this website, there are several excellent articles addressing that question, plus many other articles of interest too: http://hollywoodcalifornia.com/TruthAboutHell.htm |

489 | Is there middle ground? | Romans | Norrie | 22008
Our Thus Bible Study teacher said that he read a story saying that after a BG Cruasade where all those thoughsands are saved, when they do a followup, only about 2 percent actually are real.
490 | A "worse place" in hell for greater sin? | Bible general Archive 1 | Norrie | 21903
I just read a few emails about hell in another egroup. Here is a copy of email: Thanks for the website hollywoodcalifornia.com/TruthAboutHell.htm It definately agrees with the Biblical teaching about hell. I also recommend that every Christian read A Divine Revelation of Hell and also A Divine Revelation of Heaven by Mary K. Baxter. I have done Biblical research on what she wrote, and it is definately Bible based. Christ revealed to her the horrors of hell for 30 nights. This is the most detailed description of hell I have ever read. Hell is in the center of the earth. Then Christ revealed to her the glory of heaven for 10 nights. Heaven, the New Jerusalem city, is beyond the galaxies of space. This book is a tremendous blessing to read. |

491 | Women teaching or in authority | 1 Timothy | Norrie | 21832
I remember hearing about Mary M being a prostitue before JC Superstar. My aunt's name is Mary M and that was my confirmation name. :)
492 | meaning of Life | Bible general Archive 1 | Norrie | 21780
I don't know about you, but I prefer being God's daughter to just His friend. :) He is looking for children.
493 | Marriage to a Catholic? | Bible general Archive 1 | Norrie | 21753
I have no idea how things are now, but back in '73 when my brother, who was Cath, was going to marry a Bapt. girl, they couldn't get married Cath because she wasn't one. They got married in her church and my cousin, the priest, was there to bless it. Of course back then, if you were divorced, you couldn't get married Cath unless you had an annullment (available for right price), if you were Cath and didn't get married in the church, they didn't recognize your marriaqe (happened to my sister and her husband). I left the church after that, have no idea what they do now. |

494 | Does my Pastor have to live in my state? | Bible general Archive 1 | Norrie | 21636
I would suggest writing that preacher and asking him to recommend a local church in your area. Usually they know of churches that are associated w/them locally. Of course this would be easier to find in a city location than out in the sticks. :)
495 | Sin No More | Bible general Archive 1 | Norrie | 21591
Maybe He means don't lead a life of sin. It would be impossible to never sin but if you were living a life of sin, you leave that lifestyle behind.
496 | Women teaching or in authority | 1 Timothy | Norrie | 21566
Where in the Bible does it say that Mary Magdalene was the adultress caught in the act? Seems poor Mary gets all kinds of stories attributed to her that are just conjecture.
497 | On Harry Potter? | Bible general Archive 1 | Norrie | 21315
I believe that some of the cartoons and video games out are more demonic than those Potter books, like I said, I thought they were just stupid. Then too many of the cartoons today are almost pornographic too. I only let my daughter watch the old cartoons, nothing new. :)
498 | On Harry Potter? | Bible general Archive 1 | Norrie | 21314
That is what I'm saying too, find others ways of entertainment. There are too many good things to waste time on trash. I only read them so I could have a knowledgeable opinion. I thought stupid was an accurate accessment. :) I know witchcraft is nothing to play with, didn't I already relate my experiences w/ouija board? But these books were so far out, I didn't even think a moron could take them seriously, but maybe I'm overestimating morons. :) I didn't think they were in the same class as Dungeons and Dragons or other not so subtle things as that. Ed, you'd have to read this for yourself, first chapter and you'd think nobody could take this seriously, it's too stupid, but like I say, I give idiots more credit then they deserve. :) |

499 | On Harry Potter? | Bible general Archive 1 | Norrie | 21302
I have read a few of those books. I posted some articles about staying away from them on a forum and got sucj flack that I read them just to see what the noise was all about. This is my opinion. First of all, I don't see how a 6 yr old can read them by herself, she must be exceptionally smart or does your husband read them to her? There are many made up words too that are stupid to be exact. :) I thought the books were the silliest, most ridiculous stuff I've ever read. They made fairy tales seem true. I couldn't believe that they were anywhere believeable but the way kids believe some of this garbage they show today, it may possibly be. I've read too where this woman stole the idea for these books too from another woman who wrote them many years before. The boy was Larry Potter and there were Muggles and other likenesses. Seems a shame she should make a killing by plaguerism. I have a 9 yr old. I won't let her read those books now simply because of the stupid factor. There are plenty of books that can enrich your mind that are fiction too. I'll not have her filling her head w/garbage. There's too much good, postive things to read. Read Aesop's Fables, at least you get a good story w/a moral. :) |
