21 | How was Samuel called from the grave? | 1 Sam 28:7 | Nicholson | 8021
How can a witch bring out a soul from the Hades? That too, it was the soul of one of the greatest prophet of God. Is it possible for any such witch to do the same thing today? These are the most important questions raised in our mind when we read this passage. In MY NOTE above I have focused on these issues without being biased by the widely prevalent orthodox and traditional views.
22 | How was Samuel called from the grave? | 1 Sam 28:7 | Nicholson | 8247
Alleluia, for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth. (Rev.19: 6) The LORD hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all. Psa.103:19 But God also has certain principles laid down in His government of His whole creation. He normally does not interfere with the “way of all the earth,” (Josh.23: 14, 1Kings 2: 2)except in very rare cases due to the fervent prayers of His people. The system of God’s government is revealed to a little extent in verses Job 1: 6, 2: 1, Dan.10: 13,20, etc. I have also given some details about this in my original note on this topic. 23 | What is the meaning of Alleluia | 1 Sam 28:7 | Nicholson | 42710
The word "Alleluia" occurs many times in the Psalms and it has been translated "Praise the LORD" In the New Testament this word occurs only in the 19th chapter of the Book of Revelation. Here it occurs four times, and it occurs when God's original purpose for creating man (to reign with Him) was fulfilled. |

24 | How was Samuel raised from the grave? | 1 Sam 28:12 | Nicholson | 5538
How was Samuel raised or called-up from among the dead? When we read Ezek.28 and Isa.14: 12-17 we can understand certain things about Satan. Before the beginning of the present age of man, there was a time when Satan was created and anointed to rule over the whole earth. We do not know how long was the duration of that rule. But there was a time when Satan was disqualified because of his pride. Later man (Adam) was created to rule over the earth in place of Satan. (Gen.1: 26-28) But due to the deception of Satan, man also became disqualified to rule. So Satan, the incumbent ruler, though disqualified, continues to rule till man is prepared to take up the scepter and rule as a consort queen along-with the Lord Jesus Christ. (2Cor.4: 4, Eph.2: 2, John 12: 31, Luke 4: 5,6) This principle of God’s government can be seen clearly in the case of Saul and David. Though Saul was disqualified in 1Sam.15 and David was chosen and anointed in 1Sam.16, we find that Saul continued to rule till 2Sam.1. Satan being the ruler of the earth had the Keys of Hades and of Death till that time when our Lord Jesus Christ experienced Death and also entered in the Hades (the place occupied by all the dead). But it was impossible that Hades should hold him. (Acts 2: 24) Then from the time of the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ the Keys of Hades and of Death are in His hands as we read in Rev.1: 18. So, during the days of Saul in 1Sam.28, Satan could empower the witch to bring up Samuel. But at present such things are impossible. |

26 | What was the answer? | 1 Sam 28:12 | Nicholson | 80254
The realm of all the dead is called SHEOL in the Old Testament. It is called HADES in the New Testament. The government of the whole earth including the realm of the dead was in complete control of Satan and his angels (demons). The Lord Jesus Christ, at the time of His death on the cross, entered the realm of the dead. He tasted death for every man. (Heb.2: 9,14,15) But it was not possible that He should be held by death. (Acts 2:24) After the death of our Lord, the power of Satan over the realm of the dead ended. And Satan's power over the whole earth will also come to an end very soon. (Rev.11: 15) So during the days of the Old Testament, Satan and the demons could bring back the soul of Samuel. |

27 | What was the answer? | 1 Sam 28:12 | Nicholson | 80785
From Isa.12 and Ezek.28 we can understand that before the creation of man, God was ruling over the earth through angelic beings. The chief of them was Satan. But when Satan was disqualified, God created man in His own image and likeness to replace Satan. Man also became disqualified because of his fall. But God did not reject man. God made a plan of restoring the fallen man back to the original purpose for which he was created. But till man is restored to rule alongwith the Man Christ, Satan continues to hold the sceptre. But day is fast approaching, when Satan will be cast into hell, and man alongwith the Man Christ will take the sceptre and start ruling over the whole earth. Man consists of SPIRIT, SOUL and BODY. At the time of death these three are separated from each other. The spirit goes to the Father, the soul enters the sheol/hades, the body returns to the dust. At resurrection, before judgement, (saved and unsaved) the spirit, soul and body are reunited. We get back the spirit from the father, the soul returns from sheol/hades and a new body (it will be a glorious body for the saved individuals) is given by God. This is clearly seen at the time of the death of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Luke 23:46, Acts 2:24,27, Matt.27:59,60) For more details, please see TIME CHART on my web page http://personal.vsnl.com/nicholson/godslove/timechart |

30 | WILL YOU KNOW YOUR LOVE ONES IN HEAVEN | Luke 16:19 | Nicholson | 4141
What we read in this portion of the Scripture is about what happens immediately after death. Here we all (saved or unsaved) will be able to recognise eachother. As we read in this portion, Lazar, rich man and Abraham are able to recognise each other. When our Lord returns (1Thess 4) only the saved persons will be there in His presence and will be able to recognise each other as we can understand in these words of Comfort in 1Thess 4. The unsaved will probably never remembered or seen at that time. At the judgement of the unsaved (Rev.20:11-15) the saved are not likely to be present at all. |

Yes, in heaven, ALL those who will be present in Heaven will recognise each other. Please see my answer too.
32 | where was good hell b4 Abrahams bossom? | Luke 16:19 | Nicholson | 4205
Before or after Abraham, all the dead go to "the plcae of the dead" known as SHEOL on the OT and HADES in the NT. Both these words are translated as HELL in many potions of the Scripture. This has led to lot of confusion. The unsaved will go to HELL only after the White Throne Judgement. The saved will go to HEAVEN on after the resurrection mentioned in 1Thess 4. Abraham's bossom is one section of the SHEOL/HADES, where the presence of our dear Lord will be experienced in a very real way. |

33 | WILL YOU KNOW YOUR LOVE ONES IN HEAVEN | Luke 16:19 | Nicholson | 4226
Yes I agree that we are likely to be present at the Great White Throne Judgement. But the promise of judging the World and the Angels, and the fulfilment of Rom.8:17, 2Tim.2:12, and all the promises for Overcomers in Rev.2 and 3 will be fully accomplished in the Millennial Kingdom, which is the 1000year period between 1Thess.4 and Rev.20. In this period the power glory and majesty of our Lord Jesus Christ is going to be manifested and all those who loved Him and followed Him sincerely will be His Joint Heirs or part of His Bride. |
||||||
34 | How will we judge the angels? | Luke 16:19 | Nicholson | 4645
It is correct that we may have a share in the judgement of the fallen angels also at the Great White Throne. During the Millennial kingdom the angels will be serving us when we will exercise authority over the earth with our Lord. |

35 | What is POURING of the Spirit? | Acts 2:17 | Nicholson | 5534
Is Acts 2:17, talking about the church age? No. First of all there is nothing called “THE CHURCH AGE” in the Scriptures. The Greek words AION, GENEA and OIKONOMIA have been most often wrongly translated and also wrongly understood. AION means AGE and GENEA means GENERATIONS and OIKONOMIA means DISPENSATION or STEWARDSHIP. Also the wrong understanding of the words AGES and DISPENSATIONS have led to wrong understanding of many portions of Scripture. This has also given rise to formation of many cult groups and wrong doctrines. Comparing Matt.12: 31,32 and Eph.1: 21 and the right translation of many other portions of Scripture shows clearly that God has revealed to man only about 2 ages. (1) The FIRST age, which is this present age of approximately 6000 years from ADAM to the GLORIOUS RETURN of our LORD JESUS CHRIST. (2) Then there will be the SECOND age of 1000 years, the coming Messianic Age of the glorious reign of our Lord Jesus Christ over the whole earth. The present AGE of 6000 years can be divided into 3 dispensations of 2000 years each. 1) Dispensation of the Gentiles from Adam to Jacob 2) Dispensation of the Jews from Jacob – Israel to the first coming of the Lord Jesus Christ 3) Dispensation of Church from the time of the setting aside of Israel to the rapture of the Church. Acts 2: 16 – 21 must be compared with other related portions like Joel 2: 27-32, Isa.32: 12-18, Isa.44: 1-8, Ezek.39: 28,29, Zech.12: 8 – 13: 1 These Scriptures show clearly that there will be a POURING of the Holy Spirit accompanied by signs, miracles and wonders at the time of our Lord’s return to regather and restore the people of Israel to the Promised Land. At that time the whole house of Israel will repent and return back to their Land and the promises given to them in Gen.12: 1-3 and Exo.19: 5,6 etc. will be fulfilled. This kind of POURING of the Spirit or the signs, miracles and wonders occurred during a few occasions in their history when these promises were about to be fulfilled. Those were the times of 1) Moses and Joshua, 2) Elijah and Elisha, 3) the Lord Jesus and His disciples. These things did not occur in a similar manner on any other occasion throughout the human history. THESE THINGS WILL NOT OCCUR DURING THE PRESENT DISPENSATION OF THE CHURCH. These things will take place only after the rapture of the Church when the People of Israel will repent and return to their Land in the presence of our Lord. |

37 | Church Age? | Acts 2:17 | Nicholson | 5906
Last Days Whenever we read about “the Last Days,” we should see on what context this is mentioned. In Joel’s prophecy and in the whole book of Joel the theme is the Return and Restoration of the JEWS. So in all the connected references like Joel 2: 27-32, Isa.32: 12-18, Isa.44: 1-8, Ezek.39: 28,29, Zech.12: 8 – 13: 1 these Last Days would refer to the same general context. This present age of approximately 6000 years can be seen to consist of 3 dispensations of 2000 years each. The first dispensation is of the GENTILES, from Adam to Jacob. The second dispensation is of the JEWS, from Jacob to the first coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. The third dispensation is of the CHURCH, from the First to the Second Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (1Cor.10: 32) Here, “the Last Days” is connected with the second dispensation. It will coincide with the fulfillment of the promises of God to the JEWS. Gen.12: 2,3, Exo.19: 5,6 etc. These were about to be fulfilled at the First Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ through the ministry of our Lord in the Gospels and through the ministry of our Lord’s disciples in Acts. But the JEWS rejected the message of the Kingdom and also crucified their Messiah. Matt.23: 13, Matt.21: 43 and in Acts 13: 46, 18: 6, 28: 28 According to Daniel’s prophecy, at that time, the end of the dispensation of the JEWS was (1week of years – Dan.9: 25 – 27) short of only 7 years. The clock (of the JEWS) stopped short of 7 years and the next dispensation of the CHURCH started. After the end of this dispensation of the CHURCH, as soon as the Church is raptured, that clock will start again and run for 7years to complete the dispensation of the JEWS. At that time the promises to the JEWS will all be fulfilled. So we can see clearly that it was the Last Days for the JEWS during both the occasions i.e. during the First as well as the Second Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. |

38 | What is POURING of the Spirit? | Acts 2:17 | Nicholson | 8019
Most of the commentaries, Study Bibles and Bible Study Lessons will largely depend on the traditional interpretations of the Word of God. But in these last days it will be better for us to study the Word of God with an unbiased approach receives with meekness whatever God wants to reveal.
39 | What is POURING of the Spirit? | Acts 2:17 | Nicholson | 61398
Since the work of the Holy Spirit is often wrongly understood and wrongly taught, I have tried to explain it under three headings. 1) the INDWELLING, 2) the FILLING and 3) the POURING. Many cult groups have cropped up because of a wrong understanding of these things. A believer is sealed and INDWELT by the Holy Spirit from the time of his salvation. A believer must progressively be FILLED with the holy Spirit by yielding to the Word of God so that he can become worthy to enter into the coming glorious Kingdom of Christ. A believer should not look for a POURING of the Holy Spirit associated with signs, wonders and miracles which cannot exist today. The real POURING OUT of the Spirit will occur only in the mist of Israel when our Lord regathers and restores them to their land, on His glorious return. You will find a detailed discussion of these truths with all the Bible References in an article on my website noted below. 40 | Weekly Communion? | 1 Cor 11:25 | Nicholson | 4266
We are commanded to Partake in the Lord's Table TO REMEMBER THE LORD. It has to be done as often as possible. It was the custom of certain early disciples to come together to break bread on the First Day of the week as we read in Acts 20:7. It is therefore good to remember Him and adore Him through partaking in the Lord's Table on all Sundays. |
