181 | Does not tithing disqualify leadership? | Mal 3:10 | Jensen | 21950
Dear Mommapbs....Please consider this view... AM 4:5 Burn leavened bread as a thank offering and brag about your freewill offerings-- boast about them, you Israelites, for this is what you love to do," declares the Sovereign LORD. I would not worry too much about what other Christians, leaders or not, do about freewill offerings. If there is no hypocrisy on the part of the leader, if the leader does not tithe while encouraging others to do so, then why disqualify the leader? There are plenty of New Testament guidelines for leaders (cf. 1 and 2Timothy, Titus) but tithing is not one of them. You may want to consider... MT 7:3 "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, "Let me take the speck out of your eye," when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye." 182 | Does not tithing disqualify leadership? | Mal 3:10 | Jensen | 22041
You wrote to ask... "So here is the real issue at hand - should we be disqualified from leadership because we have given more to the Lord at ABC Ministry and less to the Lord at the local church?" ...and I would like to offer my view. I do not tithe. I give money (Time and Talent also) to bring people closer to our Lord; believers and non-believers alike. I know that when I expend my resources I am blessed beyond my understanding. It feels real good! And I learn so much about my own walk with our Lord that I wonder. Do I do this for others or for myself? I am a cheerful giver. And at the same time I have become a leader in my own right, by His image. If it were insisted that I pay the membership fee of a "local" church, I would most certainly be unable to do what I do with my remaining offering. Yet everyone agrees that I provide a good study of the first 11 chapters of the Bible from a scientific point of view. It is evangelistic but also serves to strenghten belief in the Bible as it is written. So what to do? :-) Am I called to church leadership? Hardly. Am I called to be a leader in His church. Cheerfully!! God Bless....Jensen |

184 | Can the church forgive sin? | Matt 6:14 | Jensen | 33160
Dear Lordlover...Here is a passage that may help. (Mat 6:14-15) Since we as individuals should, and therefore can, forgive someone their sins against us, by extension, I suppose a church, or group of believers can forgive a trespass corporately. Perhaps some church decree? God Bless….Jensen |

185 | What does Matthew 24: 28 mean? | Matt 24:28 | Jensen | 19602
Dear Heartfire...Another view.... When vultures come they come just at the right time. They will circle in the air untill just the right time, in this case waiting for when something is completly dead. When the Son of Man comes it will be just at the right time. When He comes it will be unmistakable (v.27), in God's own time (v.28). When He comes it will be just at the right time. Hope this helps :) God Bless...Jensen |

186 | Why is this event only in St. Matthew? | Matt 27:52 | Jensen | 33115
Dear Trykkleif...Welcome to the Forum :-)....While it is true for all the reasons you have received in reply that there is only one Biblical record of this miracle, I do recall reading from an extra-biblical account that the dead also were seen walking around in Rome and other cities as well. It was a "famous" historian. I forget the name however. So, in this case the Bible supports the extra-biblical account. (Now I will drive myself crazy going through all the resources in order to find that historian:)) When I find it I will try to send the source to you. God Bless....Jensen |

187 | Mark 1:6 ? | Mark 1:6 | Jensen | 19690
Dear Casiv...The verse seems pretty straight forward to me. A good description of John. Since you connect it to 2 Kings 1:8, I suppose you might easily say that John and Elijah had similarities. But I am afraid to answer since you may take us on another wild ride. As for 2 Kings 1:8; Does the fact that the 2 and the 1 and the 8 add up to 11, and therefore indicate disorder according to your earlier posts, mean that you want to make some unapparent point? God Bless....Jensen |

189 | Mark 1:6 ? | Mark 1:6 | Jensen | 20021
Dear Brother Casiv.... As a young earth creationist, your quoting Psalm 19:1 is the way the Lord has used you to soften my heart toward you. But I'm still not going for the number thing, and I will fight this teaching with gentleness and respect. God Bless....Jensen |

190 | Does Mark 7:19 contradict Acts 15:29? | Mark 7:19 | Jensen | 19113
Please explain why Mark 7:19 is not in contradiction to Acts 15:29. Does the fact that one is said by Jesus and the other by an agreed upon letter make a difference? I do not think so. I already believe that the Bible has no contradictions. I just want to be equipped to answer this question since it was put to me some time ago(before I found this Forum) and I was at a loss to explain. I have searched this question on the Forum and it appears not to be answered in a straight forward manner. Please avoid smoke and mirrors. If you do not know, please, please do not guess:-) God Bless....Jensen |

193 | who was Simon of Cyrene | Mark 15:21 | Jensen | 41663
Dear Prayon...You Wrote.. "If simon was at first forced to become personally involved in the physical cross of Jesus, it appears later that he chose to take on the spiritual meaning of the cross for himself." I looked to confirm what you wrote but came up short. Could you possibly be confusing this Cyrene with another Simon? Clarification puposes only my friend. God Bless....Jensen |

194 | Humble birth | Luke 2:7 | Jensen | 26881
Hello SRN...There may be no significance beyond the historical fact. If you will permit me to offer an opinion....As you probably know, not everything in the Bible has to have a secret meaning, just waiting to be uncovered after 2000 years. There are no codes, no numerologies, no Gnostic secrets. Except in those secrets that we discover about ourselves, the Bible speaks plainly in large measure. We do not know for sure, from any source, where Jesus was born; stable or cave? The Bible says "manger" in the verses you gave. Our traditions have placed the birth in a stable....But not the facts! If we were certain, well then you might have a good question. I know people who have slept in their cars and trucks because the Inn was full. Holiday Inn of course.:) Sometimes a stable is just a stable. God Bless....Jensen |

195 | Can a believer lose his salvation? | Luke 8:13 | Jensen | 31967
Dear Vony...Welcome to the Forum:-) Your one word reply/answer should be backed up with Scriptural support. What would you answer to someone who asks you for proof of what you say? Assume it is a Christian who asks. You both agree that the Word of God is without error so there you must find your support. Happy hunting!!! God Bless....Jensen |

196 | desipel dont recognice JESUS ,before af | Luke 24:16 | Jensen | 41236
Dear true believer....Welcome to the Forum :-)....Your question is a little confusing to me. What scripture verses are you concerned with? There were the men on the road to Emmaus that "were kept from recognizing Him" that would be one answer. If you can be more specific you will receive a lot of help from others on the Forum. God Bless....Jensen |

198 | WILL FAMILY ACCEPT MORMON SPOUSE | Acts 1:1 | Jensen | 44390
Dear Brethren... The first Christians were not "socialist" for selling all they had. They expected the return of Jesus to be immeadiate and many did not want to leave the city. They had no way of providing for themselves and so we had "Charity" or Christian Love not socialism as it is understood. Socialism, like Communism, puts the state at the center of the universe, above man and a diminishing God. God Bless....Jensen |

199 | Why was Stephen Stoned? | Acts 6:14 | Jensen | 45550
Dear Sercher...Welcome to the Forum Acts 6:14 "For we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place and change the customs Moses handed down to us." The Law became obsolete for salvation purposes. Stephen preached that Jesus paid all with His death on the Cross. These Freedman preferred the Law. After all, they could and did add to it and could and did subtract from it and, therefore, to some degree control the people. God Bless....Jensen PS. The same goes on today in Christian churches. |

200 | Finding Mentoring Relationships? | Acts 18:26 | Jensen | 21208
Dear ONERICHWOMAN....Other mentoring relationships may be found between older and younger women, and also between women and children. Titus 2:3-5 "Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. 4 Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, 5 to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God." Prov 22:6 "Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it." I can not offer advice on your concordance search but you may want to invest in a Topical Analysis of the Bible. Mine is by Elwell and is published by Baker. God Bless....Jensen |
