401 | "a thorn in the side"? or Not? | 1 John 2:2 | GeorJoy | 100646
I like the way you put it. And, would you not say that "our" mission which we have apparently accepted, or we would not be doing what we are at this very moment, is likewise to make known the consequences should one not accept the Lord and Savior? I'm sorry my dear brother, but I simply can not, (NOT tell) the WHOLE TRUTH and nothing but the TRUTH. It seems to me that everyone desires to preach on the rewards and no one, the wages. I simply can not understand!! I consider myself a "Conservative." There are Conservatives, and there are Liberals. It appears to me that everyone is either ULTRA Conservative or ULTRA Liberal. I am neither. I tend to be conservative, but am liberal on occasion. When it comes to the Word, I am neither conservative, nor liberal. What I am is factual, for I do not have the choice to pick and choose. If one can not preach and teach the "WHOLE WORD," then one would be wiser to keep the mouth shut... I am not coming down on anyone, for we each are endowed with our own gifts. Can the hand tell the foot what it should or should not do, and how to do it? No. It would seem that where we Christians today are concerned, a large majority of the time, the only members of the body that associate with one another are the foot and mouth. It is good to teach, but we who choose this path should take care, for we will be held to account more so than the layman. You, my brother quote the Lords words in the book of Matthew. You are correct. You denote the parable of the wheat and the tares. Would you not agree that the Church today is being choked out by the tares and their desire to appease them? I assert the following; “When I say to the wicked, O wicked man, you will surely die, and you do not speak out to dissuade him from his ways, that wicked man will die for his sin, and I will hold you accountable for his blood. But if you do warn the wicked man to turn from his ways and he does not do so, he will die for his sin, but you will have saved yourself.” I am just another member of the body. Perhaps I am the foot. It tends to occasionally smell. It is only too often found in the mouth, but without it, where would the body be? In Christ George |

Ed, your thoughts and frustration are mine... When I go to church today and look on the pulpit and surrounding area, the first word that comes to mind is "performance." There is rarely if ever an "altar call." I am constantly searching for a church that does more than just "feed the flock." If only the flock were as fat Spiritually as "we" are physically!!! Our Lord didn't come for the sake of the saved. He came for the sake of the sinner. Once again, what you have written has already been written. In Christ George |

Thank you. I make no claim to either know or understand it all where the Word is concerned. However, I do have all the answers! Or, I should say that, at the very least, as everyone else, in this country does, I have "access" to them. And I firmly believe that the Holy Spirit will guide me when it comes to the interpretation thereof. There is much in the Word that needs interpreting. Likewise there is much that needs no interpreting. Our sinful nature blinds us to the differentiation. Wisdom dictates that in its entirety, the Word interprets itself. The following is as plain as the nose on the face. Yet those who refuse to see will not see even that far. Eze 33:8 When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. Eze 33:9 Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul. This is one of many passages which need no interpretation. Yet in their sinful nature, there are many who will totally change the meaning thereof by “so called” interpretation. How much plainer can it be? Exhorter, In Christ George |

Mommapbs, how “You” or I see it is of no consequence. How it is, is of great consequence. Perhaps you would disagree, this would depend heavily upon your experience and surroundings, but what I see in today’s society is what Ezekiel was told to say to his countrymen in the 33rd chapter of his book. In addition, I see a Church today that is so concerned with the feelings of others (loving their neighbor, as some would call it,) that they simply never knew, or have forgotten what is in front of them when they open their bible. Or, perhaps they are following that bible too closely… Not “The” Bible, (the KJV,) “that bible.” You know. The one that promotes political correctness and if it feels good, do it; one of the many “so called bibles” that twist scripture. The greatest commandment is to love your neighbor, yet what does the word love mean in today’s society? How many Christians can give a correct definition of the word love. If one loves another, will they not correct the other? How many Christians today discipline a child in a biblical manor? Thank God, many do, but Lord help, because just as many or more are turning to the secular “time out” method of discipline. Does the bible not say “Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die.?” I know what you may be thinking… But a true Christian is NOT going to beat a child till he dies. If this is blunt, don’t blame me. Take it up with the one who wrote it. Shame seems no longer shame in this society. Look at our last president and the example that he set. “The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.” Are we not all children in the eyes of our God? Who among us is an adult? Who among us has the unmitigated gall to teach the word in its unleavened purity. Thank God, a few, but they are very few and very far in between. I am not a preacher or teacher. I hope to be a teacher in a bible college when I receive my degree at this late point in life. I am still in the process of perfecting my calling, whatever it may be, but you have just described what often happens to me. I had never been able to put it into words. What has happened this very day on this very forum. The Spirit has, and does regularly show me answers to questions that I have yet to formulate. The Spirit showed me through my studies that though people generally don’t like it, I am an exhorter, and that (though I was beginning to believe that it was a curse,) this is one of the gifts of the spirit. I know that there are many rough edges left on this stone, but that one day they will all be smoothed out, and that one day I will be placed in the church where Jesus is truly the foundation. 407 | "a thorn in the side"? or Not? | 1 John 2:2 | GeorJoy | 100681
Let me answer this question with a number of questions. (1) In the first place, has the church ever saved anyone? (2) Did the Apostles conform to the times? Technology is good, but simplicity is better. It is so simple that even a babe (or an old person) can understand it. (3) If it takes conforming to the ways of the world to get them in to the church, what has the church become? Worldly? Has the salt not lost its savor? (4) What is the duty of the church? Surely this day and time, anyone who wants a bible can acquire one. I should think pew bibles could be an invitation for acquirement. Tell your church to leave them where they are, and forget them. Let the congregation know that they are there for those who haven’t one of their own. Chances are that they’ll be all gone in a few years anyway. Exhorting In Christ George |

Thank you dear brother. I am trying to be patient and prepair. This old sponge got hard through the years. Now the living water has softened it, and I so despirately need to spread that water. Patience is not one of my greater virtues, but time will tell. Through the Spirit, I have learned so much in so little time. Primarily, I have learned to listen. I just don't want (not to hear) when that call is made. In Christ George |

409 | How do we preach the Gospel? | 1 John 2:2 | GeorJoy | 100684
What is "convincing evidence?" Why Must "One first show convincing evidence?" Did our Savior not show convincing evidence? How much more than walking on water, feeding multitudes, healing the lepers, raising the dead and then rising from the dead, does it take to be considered "convincing evidence?" It is a because of a lack of knowledge that one DEMANDS "convincing evidence." They have knowledge. They have learning, you may say. The word says they are "Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth." The evidence of the Word is in the Word itself. Exhorting in Christ George |

You state; "then using the Bible would perhaps produce little or no results." You make it sound as though under the circumstances you depict, the bible is useless, and that reasoning will take its place. I beg to differ! One dosen't beat someone over the head with the bible or try to shove it down their throat, yet the bible is THE essential tool. Please forgive me if I sound blunt, but your post reeks of “humanism.” Likewise, you contradict yourself from your first sentence. You start by stating; “Truly the Bible is God's Word.” Then you contradict this by stating “using the Bible would perhaps produce little or no results.” I don’t care what the circumstances are!!! SUCH A STATEMENT IS SPAWNED BY SOMETHING OTHER THAN THE HOLY SPIRIT!!! In your defense, I prefer to call it a simple lack of biblical knowledge. I could not force myself to read further than your first few sentences… That is all I needed to read. It is apparent from such a statement, and such a drawn out and wordy defense of your position, that you have little faith in the word of God, for such a statement shows either a lack of knowledge or a total lack of faith in the Gods word. Your note portrays an exceptionally bad case of what is referred to in 2Ti 3:7 I would strongly suggest dear brother, that before you make an attempt to convince others, you convince yourself. And that you realize that the “Living Water” commonly known as the Word, can not be replaced by yours or anyone else’s “reasoning… This is where today’s Church is falling far short of its calling… Perhaps you simply didn't think before you spoke, so I mean no discredit on you my brother but, have you ever read the passage pertaining to the removal of the mote in ones eye prior to their trying to remove the splinter from the eye of another, or perhaps what is said concerning the blind leading the blind? Your thanks dear Sister is not required. My thanks and prayers for those such as yourself, and those of all who serve our Lord and Master are. I ask for the prayers of all the saints who read these words that you, they, and I will have doors opened for the privilege of planting and nourishing His seed, without failure, that we will reconize and take advantage of even the slightest of opporitunities to serve, and glorify His mercifull and loving name, and that discouragement and failure will be non existant. Congrats my friend. This time you got me down to the word "impaled." My Jesus was NOT "impaled." You appear to be a learned person. Perhaps you missed the definition of this word in your learning. 1 : to join (coats of arms) on a heraldic shield divided vertically by a pale 2 a : to pierce with or as if with something pointed; especially : to torture or kill by fixing on a sharp stake b : to fix in an inescapable or helpless position. This is not how Christ died! Perhaps your learning is from others who have little or no faith in the "LIVING WORD OF GOD" I note that although you have a total of 20 posts on this forum, you have not taken the time to create a personal profile. Would you care to state your position as to where your belief or disbelief in God, His Son and His word is concern? In skimming your posts, I see the answer to my previous question. I see such a mindless confusion that there is no doubt that you are a JW. You probably won’t admit it, but I am sure dear brother that you have come to this forum because you are looking for truth. Deep down, you know that what you have been taught is incorrect. Or, at the very least, you have a doubt thereof. Open your mind and heart and He WILL come in. This forum will assist even the JW, if the person’s heart is open to truth, and allows assistance. If however you are a devout JW. You are probably here to spread your confusion. Keep in mind dear soul; Mat 18:6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. And if you don’t believe in the Word as the living word of God, keep this in mind; if I am wrong and you are right, what will I have lost. However, if I am right about the Word being God breathed, and you are wrong, you will loose your eternal soul. That’s strong language. But it is FACT… I'm not that familiar with JW. I will NOT be misled. I am only human and I know that even I can get confused and weak. What I have heard from JW is "HOGWASH." Forgive me, but diplomacy is not my strong point. George |

"Do not be excessively righteous and do not be overly wise. Why should you ruin yourself? Do not be excessively wicked and do not be a fool. Why should you die before your time? It is good that you grasp one thing and also not let go of the other; for the one who fears God comes forth with both of them." (Ecc 7:16-18) "Do not be excessively righteous and do not be overly wise. Why should you ruin yourself? Do not be excessively wicked and do not be a fool. Why should you die before your time? It is good that you grasp one thing and also not let go of the other; for the one who fears God comes forth with both of them." (Ecc 7:16-18)" ------------- ---------------- I was simply addressing your note. When one “rocks the boat” they are often labeled “self righteous” or what you called “excessively righteous.” When one trys to do as the word instructs and correct a brother, that ones shortcomings are frequently thrown back at him or her, thus causing a division in the church, and defeating the original purpose of the individual who “rocked the boat.” This is not to say that there are not those who are “self righteous. I once heard that Atheist were amoung the strongest believers. I don't remember why though. Personally, I have never met an Atheist, whom I felt truly "didn't believe in God." Doubtfull? Yes. Actual disbelief; No, for most Atheists aren't stupid. Even Satan himself believes. Yet there are those who say he dosen't exist either. I don't believe they, either are truly that STUPID. Perhaps I give such people more credit than they desirve... His Forever George |
